* [ALSA] timer: check for incorrect device state in non-debug compiles, tooClemens Ladisch2007-07-201-9/+18
| | | | | | | | | Convert the snd_assert()s to simple if()s to prevent crashes when one of the timer instance ioctls is called before the file is bound to a timer device. Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>
* header cleaning: don't include smp_lock.h when not usedRandy Dunlap2007-05-081-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | Remove includes of <linux/smp_lock.h> where it is not used/needed. Suggested by Al Viro. Builds cleanly on x86_64, i386, alpha, ia64, powerpc, sparc, sparc64, and arm (all 59 defconfigs). * [PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 9Arjan van de Ven2007-02-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. * [ALSA] Remove useless reference to obsolete KERNELDRobert P. J. Day2007-02-091-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | Remove the final useless reference to the obsolete KERNELD feature. Signed-off-by: Robert P. J. Day <rpjday@mindspring.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>
* [ALSA] alsa core: convert to list_for_each_entry*Johannes Berg2007-02-091-52/+25
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch converts most uses of list_for_each to list_for_each_entry all across alsa. In some place apparently an item can be on a list with different pointers so of course that isn't compatible with list_for_each, I therefore didn't touch those places. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>
* [ALSA] system timer: remove unused snd_timer_system_private.timer fieldClemens Ladisch2006-09-231-1/+0
| | | | | | | Remove the snd_timer_system_private structure's timer field that was never used. Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>
* [ALSA] timer: fix timer reschedulingClemens Ladisch2006-09-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | When checking whether a hardware timer needs to be rescheduled, we have to compare against the previously scheduled interval and not against the actual interval between the last two interrupts. Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>
* [ALSA] system timer: clear correction value when timer stopsClemens Ladisch2006-09-231-0/+1
| | | | | | | Do not retain the old correction value when the timer was stopped. Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>
* [ALSA] system timer: accumulate correction for multiple lost ticksClemens Ladisch2006-09-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | When multiple timer interrupts arrive too late, correct for all delays instead of ignoring the earlier ones. Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>
* [ALSA] system timer: fix lost ticks correction adjustmentClemens Ladisch2006-09-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Fix the adjustment of the lost ticks correction variable in the case when the correction has been fully taken into account in the next timer expiration value. Subtracting the scheduled ticks value would result in an underflow. Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>
* [ALSA] Unregister device files at disconnectionTakashi Iwai2006-09-231-30/+22
| | | | | | | | | | | | Orignally proposed by Sam Revitch <sam.revitch@gmail.com>. Unregister device files at disconnection to avoid the futher accesses. Also, the dev_unregister callback is removed and replaced with the combination of disconnect + free. A new function snd_card_free_when_closed() is introduced, which is used in USB disconnect callback. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>
* [ALSA] Fix disconnection of proc interfaceTakashi Iwai2006-09-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | - Add the linked list to each proc entry to enable a single-shot disconnection (unregister) - Deprecate snd_info_unregister(), use snd_info_free_entry() - Removed NULL checks of snd_info_free_entry() Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>

* [ALSA] dynamic minors (3/6): store device-specific object pointers dynamicallyClemens Ladisch2006-01-031-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | Instead of storing the pointers to the device-specific structures in an array, put them into the struct snd_minor, and look them up dynamically. This makes the device type modules independent of the minor number encoding. Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de>
* [ALSA] dynamic minors (1/6): store device type in struct snd_minorClemens Ladisch2006-01-031-7/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Instead of a comment string, store the device type in the snd_minor structure. This makes snd_minor more flexible, and has the nice side effect that we don't need anymore to create a separate snd_minor template for registering a device but can pass the file_operations directly to snd_register_device(). Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de>

* [ALSA] timer: remove list_entry() type castsClemens Ladisch2005-11-041-21/+22
| | | | | | | | | Modules: Timer Midlevel The return value of list_entry() already has the type from the second argument, so we don't need to typecase it again. Signed-off-by: Clemens Ladisch <clemens@ladisch.de>
* [ALSA] timers: add module refcounting for global timersClemens Ladisch2005-11-041-3/+4
| | | | | | | | | | Modules: RTC timer driver,Timer Midlevel Add a module pointer to the timer structure and use it for refcounting instead of the card's module pointer to prevent the global timer modules (rtctimer and hpetimer) from being removed while in use. * [ALSA] Remove snd_runtime_check() macroTakashi Iwai2005-11-041-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | Remove snd_runtime_check() macro. This macro worsens the readability of codes. They should be either normal if() or removable asserts. Also, the assert displays stack-dump, instead of only the last caller pointer. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

* [PATCH] create a kstrdup library functionPaulo Marques2005-06-231-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch creates a new kstrdup library function and changes the "local" implementations in several places to use this function. Most of the changes come from the sound and net subsystems. The sound part had already been acknowledged by Takashi Iwai and the net part by David S. Miller. I left UML alone for now because I would need more time to read the code carefully before making changes there. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
