* [SCTP]: Include ulpevents in socket receive buffer accounting.Neil Horman2005-11-118-39/+54
| | | | | | | | | | | Also introduces a sysctl option to configure the receive buffer accounting policy to be either at socket or association level. Default is all the associations on the same socket share the receive buffer. * [SCTP]: Remove timeouts[] array from sctp_endpoint.Vladislav Yasevich2005-11-114-29/+25
| | | | | | | | | | The socket level timeout values are maintained in sctp_sock and association level timeouts are in sctp_association. So there is no need for ep->timeouts. * [SCTP]: Fix potential NULL pointer dereference in sctp_v4_get_saddrVladislav Yasevich2005-11-111-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | It is possible to get to sctp_v4_get_saddr() without a valid association. This happens when processing OOTB packets and the cached route entry is no longer valid. However, when responding to OOTB packets we already properly set the source address based on the information in the OOTB packet. So, if we we get to sctp_v4_get_saddr() without an association we can simply return. * | [NET]: Wider use of for_each_*cpu()John Hawkes2005-10-251-3/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | In 'net' change the explicit use of for-loops and NR_CPUS into the general for_each_cpu() or for_each_online_cpu() constructs, as appropriate. This widens the scope of potential future optimizations of the general constructs, as well as takes advantage of the existing optimizations of first_cpu() and next_cpu(), which is advantageous when the true CPU count is much smaller than NR_CPUS. * [PATCH] gfp flags annotations - part 1Al Viro2005-10-0811-45/+44
| | | | | | | | | | | | - added typedef unsigned int __nocast gfp_t; - replaced __nocast uses for gfp flags with gfp_t - it gives exactly the same warnings as far as sparse is concerned, doesn't change generated code (from gcc point of view we replaced unsigned int with typedef) and documents what's going on far better. * [IPV4]: Replace __in_dev_get with __in_dev_get_rcu/rtnlHerbert Xu2005-10-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The following patch renames __in_dev_get() to __in_dev_get_rtnl() and introduces __in_dev_get_rcu() to cover the second case. 1) RCU with refcnt should use in_dev_get(). 2) RCU without refcnt should use __in_dev_get_rcu(). 3) All others must hold RTNL and use __in_dev_get_rtnl(). There is one exception in net/ipv4/route.c which is in fact a pre-existing race condition. I've marked it as such so that we remember to fix it. This patch is based on suggestions and prior work by Suzanne Wood and Paul McKenney. Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* [CRYPTO]: crypto_free_tfm() callers no longer need to check for NULLJesper Juhl2005-09-012-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since the patch to add a NULL short-circuit to crypto_free_tfm() went in, there's no longer any need for callers of that function to check for NULL. This patch removes the redundant NULL checks and also a few similar checks for NULL before calls to kfree() that I ran into while doing the crypto_free_tfm bits. I've succesfuly compile tested this patch, and a kernel with the patch applied boots and runs just fine. When I posted the patch to LKML (and other lists/people on Cc) it drew the following comments : J. Bruce Fields commented "I've no problem with the auth_gss or nfsv4 bits.--b." Sridhar Samudrala said "sctp change looks fine." Herbert Xu signed off on the patch. So, I guess this is ready to be dropped into -mm and eventually mainline. * [NET]: use __read_mostly on kmem_cache_t , DEFINE_SNMP_STAT pointersEric Dumazet2005-08-291-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch puts mostly read only data in the right section (read_mostly), to help sharing of these data between CPUS without memory ping pongs. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove the "list" member of struct sk_buff, as it is entirely redundant. All SKB list removal callers know which list the SKB is on, so storing this in sk_buff does nothing other than taking up some space. * [SCTP]: Replace spin_lock_irqsave with spin_lock_bhHerbert Xu2005-06-181-6/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch replaces the spin_lock_irqsave call on the receive queue lock in SCTP with spin_lock_bh. Despite the proliferation of spin_lock_irqsave calls in this stack, it is only entered from the IPv4/IPv6 stack and user space. That is, it is never entered from hardirq context. The call in question is only called from recvmsg which means that IRQs aren't disabled. Therefore it is safe to replace it with spin_lock_bh. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
