* net_sched: Add qdisc __NET_XMIT_BYPASS flagJarek Poplawski2008-08-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> noticed that it would be nice to handle NET_XMIT_BYPASS by NET_XMIT_SUCCESS with an internal qdisc flag __NET_XMIT_BYPASS and to remove the mapping from dev_queue_xmit(). David Miller <davem@davemloft.net> spotted a serious bug in the first version of this patch. Signed-off-by: Jarek Poplawski <jarkao2@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* net_sched: Add qdisc __NET_XMIT_STOLEN flagJarek Poplawski2008-08-041-3/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> noticed: "The other problem that affects all qdiscs supporting actions is TC_ACT_QUEUED/TC_ACT_STOLEN getting mapped to NET_XMIT_SUCCESS even though the packet is not queued, corrupting upper qdiscs' qlen counters." and later explained: "The reason why it translates it at all seems to be to not increase the drops counter. Within a single qdisc this could be avoided by other means easily, upper qdiscs would still increase the counter when we return anything besides NET_XMIT_SUCCESS though. This means we need a new NET_XMIT return value to indicate this to the upper qdiscs. So I'd suggest to introduce NET_XMIT_STOLEN, return that to upper qdiscs and translate it to NET_XMIT_SUCCESS in dev_queue_xmit, similar to NET_XMIT_BYPASS." David Miller <davem@davemloft.net> noticed: "Maybe these NET_XMIT_* values being passed around should be a set of bits. They could be composed of base meanings, combined with specific attributes. So you could say "NET_XMIT_DROP | __NET_XMIT_NO_DROP_COUNT" The attributes get masked out by the top-level ->enqueue() caller, such that the base meanings are the only thing that make their way up into the stack. If it's only about communication within the qdisc tree, let's simply code it that way." This patch is trying to realize these ideas. * pkt_sched: Remove 'dev' member of struct Qdisc.David S. Miller2008-07-081-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | It can be obtained via the netdev_queue. So create a helper routine, qdisc_dev(), to make the transformations nicer looking. Now, qdisc_alloc() now no longer needs a net_device pointer argument. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* netdev: Create netdev_queue abstraction.David S. Miller2008-07-081-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A netdev_queue is an entity managed by a qdisc. Currently there is one RX and one TX queue, and a netdev_queue merely contains a backpointer to the net_device. The Qdisc struct is augmented with a netdev_queue pointer as well. Eventually the 'dev' Qdisc member will go away and we will have the resulting hierarchy: net_device --> netdev_queue --> Qdisc Also, qdisc_alloc() and qdisc_create_dflt() now take a netdev_queue pointer argument. * net-sched: change tcf_destroy_chain() to clear start of filter listPatrick McHardy2008-07-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Pass double tcf_proto pointers to tcf_destroy_chain() to make it clear the start of the filter list for more consistency. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* netlink: Improve returned error codesThomas Graf2008-06-031-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | Make nlmsg_trim(), nlmsg_cancel(), genlmsg_cancel(), and nla_nest_cancel() void functions. Return -EMSGSIZE instead of -1 if the provided message buffer is not big enough. Signed-off-by: Thomas Graf <tgraf@suug.ch> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* [NET_SCHED]: Propagate nla_parse return valuePatrick McHardy2008-01-281-2/+12
| | | | | | | | nla_parse() returns more detailed errno codes, propagate them back on error. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [NET_SCHED]: Convert packet schedulers from rtnetlink to new netlink APIPatrick McHardy2008-01-281-36/+49
| | | | | | | | | | | Convert packet schedulers to use the netlink API. Unfortunately a gradual conversion is not possible without breaking compilation in the middle or adding lots of casts, so this patch converts them all in one step. The patch has been mostly generated automatically with some minor edits to at least allow seperate conversion of classifiers and actions. * [PKT_SCHED] dsmark: handle cloned and non-linear skb'sStephen Hemminger2008-01-281-4/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | Make dsmark work properly with non-linear and cloned skb's Before modifying the header, it needs to check that skb header is writeable. Note: this makes the assumption, that if it queues a good skb then a good skb will come out of the embedded qdisc. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@vyatta.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [PKT_SCHED] dsmark: Use hweight32() instead of convoluted loop.David S. Miller2008-01-281-12/+3

* [NET]: Move Qdisc_class_ops and Qdisc_ops in appropriate sections.Eric Dumazet2008-01-281-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | Qdisc_class_ops are const, and Qdisc_ops are mostly read. Using "const" and "__read_mostly" qualifiers helps to reduce false sharing. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <dada1@cosmosbay.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [NET_SCHED]: Kill CONFIG_NET_CLS_POLICEPatrick McHardy2007-07-151-12/+1
| | | | | | | | | | The NET_CLS_ACT option is now a full replacement for NET_CLS_POLICE, remove the old code. The config option will be kept around to select the equivalent NET_CLS_ACT options for a short time to allow easier upgrades. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. * [NET]: cleanup extra semicolonsStephen Hemminger2007-04-251-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | Spring cleaning time... There seems to be a lot of places in the network code that have extra bogus semicolons after conditionals. Most commonly is a bogus semicolon after: switch() { } Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [NET_SCHED]: Unline tcf_destroyPatrick McHardy2007-04-251-7/+1

* [SK_BUFF]: Introduce ipv6_hdr(), remove skb->nh.ipv6hArnaldo Carvalho de Melo2007-04-251-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | Now the skb->nh union has just one member, .raw, i.e. it is just like the skb->mac union, strange, no? I'm just leaving it like that till the transport layer is done with, when we'll rename skb->mac.raw to skb->mac_header (or ->mac_header_offset?), ditto for ->{h,nh}. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
