* net: Don't export sysctls to unprivileged usersEric W. Biederman2012-11-181-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | In preparation for supporting the creation of network namespaces by unprivileged users, modify all of the per net sysctl exports and refuse to allow them to unprivileged users. This makes it safe for unprivileged users in general to access per net sysctls, and allows sysctls to be exported to unprivileged users on an individual basis as they are deemed safe. * ipv6: unify conntrack reassembly expire code with standard oneAmerigo Wang2012-09-191-44/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Two years ago, Shan Wei tried to fix this: http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/43905/ The problem is that RFC2460 requires an ICMP Time Exceeded -- Fragment Reassembly Time Exceeded message should be sent to the source of that fragment, if the defragmentation times out. " If insufficient fragments are received to complete reassembly of a packet within 60 seconds of the reception of the first-arriving fragment of that packet, reassembly of that packet must be abandoned and all the fragments that have been received for that packet must be discarded. If the first fragment (i.e., the one with a Fragment Offset of zero) has been received, an ICMP Time Exceeded -- Fragment Reassembly Time Exceeded message should be sent to the source of that fragment. " As Herbert suggested, we could actually use the standard IPv6 reassembly code which follows RFC2460. With this patch applied, I can see ICMP Time Exceeded sent from the receiver when the sender sent out 3/4 fragmented IPv6 UDP packet. * net: Kill register_sysctl_rotableEric W. Biederman2012-04-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | register_sysctl_rotable never caught on as an interesting way to register sysctls. My take on the situation is that what we want are sysctls that we can only see in the initial network namespace. What we have implemented with register_sysctl_rotable are sysctls that we can see in all of the network namespaces and can only change in the initial network namespace. That is a very silly way to go. Just register the network sysctls in the initial network namespace and we don't have any weird special cases to deal with. The sysctls affected are: /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ipfrag_secret_interval /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ipfrag_max_dist /proc/sys/net/ipv6/ip6frag_secret_interval /proc/sys/net/ipv6/mld_max_msf I really don't expect anyone will miss them if they can't read them in a child user namespace. * include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo2010-03-301-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | dev can be NULL in ip[6]_frag_reasm for skb's coming from RAW sockets. Quagga's OSPFD sends fragmented packets on a RAW socket, when netfilter conntrack reassembles them on the OUTPUT path you hit this code path. You can test it with something like "hping2 -0 -d 2000 -f AA.BB.CC.DD" With help from Jarek Poplawski. Signed-off-by: Jorge Boncompte [DTI2] <jorge@dti2.net> Signed-off-by: David S. | | | | | | | | | | | | | I want to compile out proc_* and sysctl_* handlers totally and stub them to NULL depending on config options, however usage of & will prevent this, since taking adress of NULL pointer will break compilation. So, drop & in front of every ->proc_handler and every ->strategy handler, it was never needed in fact. Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * net: convert BUG_TRAP to generic WARN_ONIlpo Järvinen2008-07-251-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Removes legacy reinvent-the-wheel type thing. The generic machinery integrates much better to automated debugging aids such as kerneloops.org (and others), and is unambiguous due to better naming. Non-intuively BUG_TRAP() is actually equal to WARN_ON() rather than BUG_ON() though some might actually be promoted to BUG_ON() but I left that to future. I could make at least one BUILD_BUG_ON conversion. Signed-off-by: Ilpo Järvinen <ilpo.jarvinen@helsinki.fi> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

| * inet fragments: fix race between inet_frag_find and inet_frag_secret_rebuildPavel Emelyanov2008-06-271-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The problem is that while we work w/o the inet_frags.lock even read-locked the secret rebuild timer may occur (on another CPU, since BHs are still disabled in the inet_frag_find) and change the rnd seed for ipv4/6 fragments. It was caused by my patch fd9e63544cac30a34c951f0ec958038f0529e244 ([INET]: Omit double hash calculations in xxx_frag_intern) late in the 2.6.24 kernel, so this should probably be queued to -stable.
