* [PATCH] CONFIG_IA32Brian Gerst2005-10-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Add CONFIG_X86_32 for i386. This allows selecting options that only apply to 32-bit systems. (X86 && !X86_64) becomes X86_32 (X86 || X86_64) becomes X86 Signed-off-by: Brian Gerst <bgerst@didntduck.org> Cc: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

* [PATCH] detect soft lockupsIngo Molnar2005-09-071-0/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds a new kernel debug feature: CONFIG_DETECT_SOFTLOCKUP. When enabled then per-CPU watchdog threads are started, which try to run once per second. If they get delayed for more than 10 seconds then a callback from the timer interrupt detects this condition and prints out a warning message and a stack dump (once per lockup incident). The feature is otherwise non-intrusive, it doesnt try to unlock the box in any way, it only gets the debug info out, automatically, and on all CPUs affected by the lockup. * [PATCH] DEBUG_FS must depend on SYSFSAdrian Bunk2005-07-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_DEBUG_FS=y and CONFIG_SYSFS=n results in the following compile error: <-- snip --> ... LD vmlinux fs/built-in.o: In function `debugfs_init': inode.c:(.init.text+0x31be): undefined reference to `kernel_subsys' make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1 <-- snip --> Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] uml: split CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER from DEBUG_INFOPaolo 'Blaisorblade' Giarrusso2005-05-281-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | Until now, FRAME_POINTER was set = DEBUG_INFO for UML. Change it to be the default way, so that it can be enabled alone (for instance to get better backtraces on crashes). The call-trace dumper which uses the frame pointer is not yet in, I'm going to introduce it in a separate patch. * [PATCH] remove all kernel BUGsMatt Mackall2005-05-011-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | This patch eliminates all kernel BUGs, trims about 35k off the typical kernel, and makes the system slightly faster. Signed-off-by: Matt Mackall <mpm@selenic.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
