* arm, pm, vmpressure: add missing slab.h includesTejun Heo2014-02-031-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | arch/arm/mach-tegra/pm.c, kernel/power/console.c and mm/vmpressure.c were somehow getting slab.h indirectly through cgroup.h which in turn was getting it indirectly through xattr.h. A scheduled cgroup change drops xattr.h inclusion from cgroup.h and breaks compilation of these three files. Add explicit slab.h includes to the three files. A pending cgroup patch depends on this change and it'd be great if this can be routed through cgroup/for-3.14-fixes branch. * PM: make VT switching to the suspend console optional v3Jesse Barnes2013-02-201-0/+116
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | KMS drivers can potentially restore the display configuration without userspace help. Such drivers can can call a new funciton, pm_vt_switch_required(false) if they support this feature. In that case, the PM layer won't VT switch to the suspend console at suspend time and then back to the original VT on resume, but rather leave things alone for a nicer looking suspend and resume sequence. v2: make a function so we can handle multiple drivers (Alan) v3: use a list to track device requests (Rafael) v4: Squash in build fix from Jesse for CONFIG_VT_CONSOLE_SLEEP=n v5: Squash in patch from Wu Fengguang to add a few missing static qualifiers. v6: Add missing EXPORT_SYMBOL. * PM / VT: Cleanup #if defined uglyness and fix compile errorH Hartley Sweeten2011-10-161-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce the config option CONFIG_VT_CONSOLE_SLEEP in order to cleanup the #if defined ugliness for the vt suspend support functions. Note that CONFIG_VT_CONSOLE is already dependant on CONFIG_VT. The function pm_set_vt_switch is actually dependant on CONFIG_VT and not CONFIG_PM_SLEEP. This fixes a compile error when CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is not set: drivers/tty/vt/vt_ioctl.c:1794: error: redefinition of 'pm_set_vt_switch' include/linux/suspend.h:17: error: previous definition of 'pm_set_vt_switch' was here Also, remove the incorrect path from the comment in console.c. * vt: introduce and use vt_kmsg_redirect() functionBernhard Walle2009-12-151-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The kernel offers with TIOCL_GETKMSGREDIRECT ioctl() the possibility to redirect the kernel messages to a specific console. However, since it's not possible to switch to the kernel message console after a panic(), it would be nice if the kernel would print the panic message on the current console. This patch series adds a new interface to access the global kmsg_redirect variable by a function to be able to use it in code where CONFIG_VT_CONSOLE is not set (kernel/panic.c). This patch: Instead of using and exporting a global value kmsg_redirect, introduce a function vt_kmsg_redirect() that both can set and return the console where messages are printed. Change all users of kmsg_redirect (the VT code itself and kernel/power.c) to the new interface. The main advantage is that vt_kmsg_redirect() can also be used when CONFIG_VT_CONSOLE is not set. * PM/gxfb: add hook to PM console layer that allows disabling of suspend VT switchAndres Salomon2008-04-281-1/+26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Prior to suspend, we allocate and switch to a new VT; after suspend, we switch back to the original VT. This can be slow, and is completely unnecessary if the framebuffer we're using can restore video properly. This adds a hook that allows drivers to select whether or not to do this vt switch, and changes the gxfb driver to call this hook. It also adds a module param to gxfb to allow controlling of the vt switch (defaulting to no switch). (Note: I'm not convinced that console_sem is the best way to protect this, but we should probably have some form of locking..) * [PATCH] swsusp: fix suspend when console is in VT_AUTO+KD_GRAPHICS modeAndrew Johnson2007-03-161-1/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When the console is in VT_AUTO+KD_GRAPHICS mode, switching to the SUSPEND_CONSOLE fails, resulting in vt_waitactive() waiting indefinitely or until the task is interrupted. This patch tests if a console switch can occur in set_console() and returns early if a console switch is not possible. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
