* HID: fix return value of hidraw_report_event() when !CONFIG_HIDRAWJiri Kosina2012-04-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Commit b6787242f327 ("HID: hidraw: add proper error handling to raw event reporting") forgot to update the static inline version of hidraw_report_event() for the case when CONFIG_HIDRAW is unset. Fix that up. Reported-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
* HID: hidraw: add proper error handling to raw event reportingJiri Kosina2012-04-271-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | If kmemdup() in hidraw_report_event() fails, we are not propagating this fact properly. Let hidraw_report_event() and hid_report_raw_event() return an error value to the caller. Reported-by: Oliver Neukum <oneukum@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
* HID: Add Support for Setting and Getting Feature Reports from hidrawAlan Ott2011-02-111-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Per the HID Specification, Feature reports must be sent and received on the Configuration endpoint (EP 0) through the Set_Report/Get_Report interfaces. This patch adds two ioctls to hidraw to set and get feature reports to and from the device. Modifications were made to hidraw and usbhid. New hidraw ioctls: HIDIOCSFEATURE - Perform a Set_Report transfer of a Feature report. HIDIOCGFEATURE - Perform a Get_Report transfer of a Feature report. * HID: add phys and name ioctls to hidrawJiri Kosina2009-01-041-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | The hiddev interface provides ioctl() calls which can be used to obtain phys and raw name of the underlying device. Add the corresponding support also into hidraw. Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
* HID: export headers properlyMike Frysinger2008-04-221-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | I have people whining about using these headers in userspace, and they have __KERNEL__ markings which implies they're supposed to be exported. I also added the required linux/types.h include to hidraw.h since it uses the __u## kernel types. * HID: fix HIDIOCGRDESC memory access in hidrawJiri Kosina2007-10-151-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | Fix bogus copying of data into userspace when HIDIOCGRDESC is issued. HID-transport layer makes sure that dev->hid->rdesc is not larger than HID_MAX_DESCRIPTOR_SIZE. * HID: add hidraw interfaceJiri Kosina2007-10-141-0/+86
hidraw is an interface that is going to obsolete hiddev one day. Many userland applications are using libusb instead of using kernel-provided hiddev interface. This is caused by various reasons - the HID parser in kernel doesn't handle all the HID hardware on the planet properly, some devices might require its own specific quirks/drivers, etc. hiddev interface tries to do its best to parse all the received reports properly, and presents only parsed usages into userspace. This is however often not enough, and that's the reason why many userland applications just don't use hiddev at all, and rather use libusb to read raw USB events and process them on their own. Another drawback of hiddev is that it is USB-specific. hidraw interface provides userspace readers with really raw HID reports, no matter what the low-level transport layer is (USB/BT), and gives the userland applications all the freedom to process the HID reports in a way they wish to.
