* x86: consolidate header guardsVegard Nossum2008-07-221-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch is the result of an automatic script that consolidates the format of all the headers in include/asm-x86/. The format: 1. No leading underscore. Names with leading underscores are reserved. 2. Pathname components are separated by two underscores. So we can distinguish between mm_types.h and mm/types.h. 3. Everything except letters and numbers are turned into single underscores. Signed-off-by: Vegard Nossum <vegard.nossum@gmail.com>
* x86: unify and correct the GDT_ENTRY() macroH. Peter Anvin2008-07-171-0/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Merge the GDT_ENTRY() macro between arch/x86/boot/pm.c and arch/x86/kernel/acpi/sleep.c and put the new one in <asm-x86/segment.h>. While we're at it, correct the bitmasks for the limit and flags. The new version relies on using ULL constants in order to cause type promotion rather than explicit casts; this avoids having to include <linux/types.h> in <asm-x86/segments.h>. Signed-off-by: H. * x86: move x86_64 gdt closer to i386Glauber Costa2008-07-081-11/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | i386 and x86_64 used two different schemes for maintaining the gdt. With this patch, x86_64 initial gdt table is defined in a .c file, same way as i386 is now. Also, we call it "gdt_page", and the descriptor, "early_gdt_descr". This way we achieve common naming, which can allow for more code integration. * x86: don't set up early exception handlers for external interruptsAndi Kleen2008-04-171-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | All of early setup runs with interrupts disabled, so there is no need to set up early exception handlers for vectors >= 32 This saves some minor text size. * x86: early_idt_handler improvements, 64-bitRoland McGrath2008-01-301-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | It's not too pretty, but I found this made the "PANIC: early exception" messages become much more reliably useful: 1. print the vector number, 2. print the %cs value, 3. handle error-code-pushing vs non-pushing vectors. * x86 setup: initialize LDTR and TR to make life easier to Intel VTH. Peter Anvin2008-01-301-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | Intel VT doesn't like to engage when the protected-mode state isn't fully initialized. Make life easier for it by initializing LDTR (to null) and TR (to a dummy hunk of low memory which will never actually be touched.) Signed-off-by: H. * x86: <asm/segment.h>: boot GDT entries are 32/64-independentH. Peter Anvin2008-01-301-16/+8
| | | | | | | | | The boot GDT entries are common between 32- and 64-bit mode, so move them to common code instead of having two identical copies. Signed-off-by: H. Peter Anvin <hpa@zytor.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>
* x86: remove arch specific segment headersGlauber de Oliveira Costa2008-01-301-2/+175
| | | | | | | | | This file puts the remainder of the arch specificic segment headers in segment.h. Signed-off-by: Glauber de Oliveira Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>
* x86: unify common parts of segment.hGlauber de Oliveira Costa2008-01-301-0/+16
| | | | | | | | | | Although segment handling in i386 and x86_64 are very different, there's a common part. Put them in segment.h instead of arch specific headers Signed-off-by: Glauber de Oliveira Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>
* x86: put get_kernel_rpl in a common locationGlauber de Oliveira Costa2008-01-301-0/+9
| | | | | | | | | This macro is useful for both i386 and x86_64, so put it in a common location, where both arches can grab it. Signed-off-by: Glauber de Oliveira Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>
