* [AVR32] Define mmiowb()Haavard Skinnemoen2007-08-151-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Add empty definition of mmiowb() since some drivers need it. Uncached writes are strongly ordered on AVR32. They may be delayed if the dcache is busy doing a writeback, but AFAICT that's not what this macro is supposed to deal with, at least on UP systems. We might have to revisit this definition when a SMP-capable AVR32 CPU comes along, depending on how the busses and cache coherency stuff end up being implemented. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* [AVR32] Fix bogus pte_page() definitionHaavard Skinnemoen2007-08-151-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The current definition of pte_page() masks out valid bits from the physical address, causing vmalloc_to_page() to misbehave. This may lead to everything from mmap() silently accessing the wrong data to "invalid pte" errors dumped by the kernel. Also remove the now-unused definition of PTE_PHYS_MASK. Thanks to Matteo Vit for discovering this bug. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* [AVR32] Simplify pte_alloc_one{,_kernel}Haavard Skinnemoen2007-08-151-20/+2
| | | | | | | | There's really no need to retry an allocation with __GFP_REPEAT set. Also, use get_zeroed_page() and __GFP_ZERO to eliminate the extra call to clear_page() afterwards. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>

* arch: personality independent stack topPeter Zijlstra2007-07-191-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | New arch macro STACK_TOP_MAX it gives the larges valid stack address for the architecture in question. It differs from STACK_TOP in that it will not distinguish between personalities but will always return the largest possible address. This is used to create the initial stack on execve, which we will move down to the proper location once the binfmt code has figured out where that is. * [AVR32] Fix atomic_add_unless() and atomic_sub_unless()Haavard Skinnemoen2007-07-181-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | These functions depend on "result" being initalized to 0, but "result" is not included as an input constraint to the inline assembly block following its initialization, only as an output constraint. Thus gcc thinks it doesn't need to initialize it, so result ends up undefined if the "unless" condition is true. This fixes an oops in sunrpc where the faulty atomics caused rpciod_up() to not start the workqueue as it should. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>

* [AVR32] Remove optimization of unaligned word loadsHaavard Skinnemoen2007-07-181-23/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | If we let unaligned word loads bypass the generic unaligned handling, gcc may combine it with a swap.b instruction and turn it into a ldwsp instruction, which does not work with unaligned addresses. Revert the optimization to prevent the RNDIS driver from crashing. Hopefully we'll figure something out later (it may be better to do the optimization in gcc.) * [AVR32] Split SM device into PM, RTC, WDT and EICHaavard Skinnemoen2007-07-181-27/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Split the SM platform device into separate platform devices for PM, RTC, WDT and EIC. This is more correct according to the documentation and allows us to simplify the code a little. Also turn the EIC driver into a real platform driver. * [AVR32] faster avr32 unaligned accessDavid Brownell2007-07-181-9/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | Use a more conventional implementation for unaligned access, and include an AT32AP-specific optimization: the CPU will handle unaligned words. The result is always faster and smaller for 8, 16, and 32 bit values. For 64 bit quantities, it's presumably larger. * | Use common cpu_is_xxx() macros on AT91 and AVR32Haavard Skinnemoen2007-05-091-0/+33
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Several drivers shared between AT91 and AVR32 chips use cpu_is_xxx() to handle CPU-specific differences. Currently, such code needs to be inside #ifdef CONFIG_ARCH_AT91 because the macros don't exist on AVR32. By defining the same macros on both AT91 and AVR32, these #ifdefs can be eliminated. Since the macros will evaluate to a constant value for CPUs that aren't supported by the current architecture, any code that is only needed on AT91 will be optimized away on AVR32 and vice versa. * Clean up mostly unused IOSPACE macrosDavid Gibson2007-05-081-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Most architectures defined three macros, MK_IOSPACE_PFN(), GET_IOSPACE() and GET_PFN() in pgtable.h. However, the only callers of any of these macros are in Sparc specific code, either in arch/sparc, arch/sparc64 or drivers/sbus. * move die notifier handling to common codeChristoph Hellwig2007-05-081-23/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch moves the die notifier handling to common code. Previous various architectures had exactly the same code for it. Note that the new code is compiled unconditionally, this should be understood as an appel to the other architecture maintainer to implement support for it aswell (aka sprinkling a notify_die or two in the proper place) arm had a notifiy_die that did something totally different, I renamed it to arm_notify_die as part of the patch and made it static to the file it's declared and used at. avr32 used to pass slightly less information through this interface and I brought it into line with the other architectures. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add hooks to allow a paravirt implementation to track the lifetime of an mm. Paravirtualization requires three hooks, but only two are needed in common code. They are: arch_dup_mmap, which is called when a new mmap is created at fork arch_exit_mmap, which is called when the last process reference to an mm is dropped, which typically happens on exit and exec. The third hook is activate_mm, which is called from the arch-specific activate_mm() macro/function, and so doesn't need stub versions for other architectures. It's called when an mm is first used. | * [NET]: Adding SO_TIMESTAMPNS / SCM_TIMESTAMPNS supportEric Dumazet2007-04-251-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now that network timestamps use ktime_t infrastructure, we can add a new SOL_SOCKET sockopt SO_TIMESTAMPNS. This command is similar to SO_TIMESTAMP, but permits transmission of a 'timespec struct' instead of a 'timeval struct' control message. (nanosecond resolution instead of microsecond) Control message is labelled SCM_TIMESTAMPNS instead of SCM_TIMESTAMP A socket cannot mix SO_TIMESTAMP and SO_TIMESTAMPNS : the two modes are mutually exclusive. sock_recv_timestamp() became too big to be fully inlined so I added a __sock_recv_timestamp() helper function. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | gcc 4.1 doesn't seem to like const variables as inline assembly outputs. Drop support for reading 64-bit values using get_user() so that we can use an unsigned long to hold the result regardless of the actual size. This should be safe since many architectures, including i386, doesn't support reading 64-bit values with get_user(). Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* | avr32: remove unneeded cast in atomic.hMathieu Desnoyers2007-04-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This int cast is superfluous since system.h cmpxchg already casts it in (typeof(*(ptr))). * | [AVR32] Use memcpy/memset in memcpy_{from,to}_io and memset_ioHaavard Skinnemoen2007-04-271-14/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Using readb/writeb to implement these breaks NOR flash support. I can't see any reason why regular memcpy and memset shouldn't work. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* | [AVR32] Get rid of board_setup_fbmem()Haavard Skinnemoen2007-04-271-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since the core setup code takes care of both allocation and reservation of framebuffer memory, there's no need for this board- specific hook anymore. Replace it with two global variables, fbmem_start and fbmem_size, which can be used directly. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* | [AVR32] Simplify early handling of memory regionsHaavard Skinnemoen2007-04-271-8/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Use struct resource to specify both physical memory regions and reserved regions and push everything into the same framework, including kernel code/data and initrd memory. This allows us to get rid of many special cases in the bootmem initialization and will also make it easier to implement more robust handling of framebuffer memory later. * | [AVR32] Make I/O access macros work with external devicesHaavard Skinnemoen2007-04-272-152/+222
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fix the I/O access macros so that they work with externally connected devices accessed in little-endian mode over any bus width: * Use a set of macros to define I/O port- and memory operations borrowed from MIPS. * Allow subarchitecture to specify address- and data-mangling * Implement at32ap-specific port mangling (with build-time configurable bus width. Only one bus width at a time supported for now.) * Rewrite iowriteN and friends to use write[bwl] and friends (not the __raw counterparts.) This has been tested using pata_pcmcia to access a CompactFlash card connected to the EBI (16-bit bus width.) Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* | [AVR32] Clean up exception handling codeHaavard Skinnemoen2007-04-273-24/+45
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * Use generic BUG() handling * Remove some useless debug statements * Use a common function _exception() to send signals or oops when an exception can't be handled. This makes sure init doesn't enter an infinite exception loop as well. Borrowed from powerpc. * Add some basic exception tracing support to the page fault code. * Rework dump_stack(), show_regs() and friends and move everything into process.c * Print information about configuration options and chip type when oopsing Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* | [AVR32] Clean up cpu identification and add features bitmapHaavard Skinnemoen2007-04-271-0/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Clean up the cpu identification code, using definitions from <asm/sysreg.h> instead of hardcoded constants. Also, add a features bitmap to struct avr32_cpuinfo to allow other code to make decisions based upon what the running cpu is actually capable of. * | [AVR32] Put cpu in sleep 0 when idle.Hans-Christian Egtvedt2007-04-271-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch puts the CPU in sleep 0 when doing nothing, idle. This will turn of the CPU clock and thus save power. The CPU is waken again when an interrupt occurs. * | [AVR32] Change system timer from count-compare to Timer/Counter 0Hans-Christian Egtvedt2007-04-271-0/+112
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Due to limitation of the count-compare system timer (not able to count when CPU is in sleep), the system timer had to be changed to use a peripheral timer/counter. The old COUNT-COMPARE code is still present in time.c as weak functions. The new timer is added to the architecture directory. This patch sets up TC0 as system timer The new timer has been tested on AT32AP7000/ATSTK1000 at 100 Hz, 250 Hz, 300 Hz and 1000 Hz. For more details about the timer/counter see the datasheet for AT32AP700x available at http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/product_card.asp?part_id=3903 Signed-off-by: Hans-Christian Egtvedt <hcegtvedt@atmel.com> Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
