* nfsd: Remove deprecated nfsctl system call and related code.NeilBrown2011-07-151-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As promised in feature-removal-schedule.txt it is time to remove the nfsctl system call. Userspace has perferred to not use this call throughout 2.6 and it has been excluded in the default configuration since 2.6.36 (9 months ago). So this patch removes all the code that was being compiled out. There are still references to sys_nfsctl in various arch systemcall tables and related code. These should be cleaned out too, probably in the next merge window. Signed-off-by: NeilBrown <neilb@suse.de> Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@redhat.com>
* nfsd: fix auth_domain reference leak on nlm operationsJ. Bruce Fields2011-03-241-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This was noticed by users who performed more than 2^32 lock operations and hence made this counter overflow (eventually leading to use-after-free's). Setting rq_client to NULL here means that it won't later get auth_domain_put() when it should be. Appears to have been introduced in 2.5.42 by "[PATCH] kNFSd: Move auth domain lookup into svcauth" which moved most of the rq_client handling to common svcauth code, but left behind this one line. * nfsd: remove pointless paths in file headersJ. Bruce Fields2009-12-151-2/+0
| | | | | | | | The new .h files have paths at the top that are now out of date. While we're here, just remove all of those from fs/nfsd; they never served any purpose. Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@citi.umich.edu>
* nfsd: Move private headers to source directoryBoaz Harrosh2009-12-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Lots of include/linux/nfsd/* headers are only used by nfsd module. Move them to the source directory Signed-off-by: Boaz Harrosh <bharrosh@panasas.com> Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@citi.umich.edu>
* nfsd: Source files #include cleanupsBoaz Harrosh2009-12-141-5/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Now that the headers are fixed and carry their own wait, all fs/nfsd/ source files can include a minimal set of headers. and still compile just fine. This patch should improve the compilation speed of the nfsd module. Signed-off-by: Boaz Harrosh <bharrosh@panasas.com> Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@citi.umich.edu>
* nfsd: make fs/nfsd/vfs.h for common includesJ. Bruce Fields2009-11-131-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | None of this stuff is used outside nfsd, so move it out of the common linux include directory. Actually, probably none of the stuff in include/linux/nfsd/nfsd.h really belongs there, so later we may remove that file entirely. Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@citi.umich.edu>
* nfsd: common grace period controlJ. Bruce Fields2008-10-031-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Rewrite grace period code to unify management of grace period across lockd and nfsd. The current code has lockd and nfsd cooperate to compute a grace period which is satisfactory to them both, and then individually enforce it. This creates a slight race condition, since the enforcement is not coordinated. It's also more complicated than necessary. Here instead we have lockd and nfsd each inform common code when they enter the grace period, and when they're ready to leave the grace period, and allow normal locking only after both of them are ready to leave. We also expect the locks_start_grace()/locks_end_grace() interface here to be simpler to build on for future cluster/high-availability work, which may require (for example) putting individual filesystems into grace, or enforcing grace periods across multiple cluster nodes. * lockd: dont return EAGAIN for a permanent errorMiklos Szeredi2008-07-251-4/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fix nlm_fopen() to return NLM_FAILED (or NLM_LCK_DENIED_NOLOCKS) instead of NLM_LCK_DENIED. The latter means the lock request failed because of a conflicting lock (i.e. a temporary error), which is wrong in this case. Also fix the client to return ENOLCK instead of EAGAIN if a blocking lock request returns with NLM_LOCK_DENIED. * nfsd: rename MAY_ flagsMiklos Szeredi2008-06-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Rename nfsd_permission() specific MAY_* flags to NFSD_MAY_* to make it clear, that these are not used outside nfsd, and to avoid name and number space conflicts with the VFS. [comment from hch: rename MAY_READ, MAY_WRITE and MAY_EXEC as well] Signed-off-by: Miklos Szeredi <mszeredi@suse.cz> Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@citi.umich.edu>
* knfsd: lockd: nfsd4: use same grace period for lockd and nfsd4Marc Eshel2007-07-171-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Both lockd and (in the nfsv4 case) nfsd enforce a "grace period" after reboot, during which clients may reclaim locks from the previous server instance, but may not acquire new locks. Currently the lockd and nfsd enforce grace periods of different lengths. This may cause problems when we reboot a server with both v2/v3 and v4 clients. For example, if the lockd grace period is shorter (as is likely the case), then a v3 client might acquire a new lock that conflicts with a lock already held (but not yet reclaimed) by a v4 client. This patch calculates a lease time that lockd and nfsd can both use. Signed-off-by: Marc Eshel <eshel@almaden.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: J. * [PATCH] knfsd: Allow lockd to drop replies as appropriateNeilBrown2006-10-171-6/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It is possible for the ->fopen callback from lockd into nfsd to find that an answer cannot be given straight away (an upcall is needed) and so the request has to be 'dropped', to be retried later. That error status is not currently propagated back. So: Change nlm_fopen to return nlm error codes (rather than a private protocol) and define a new nlm_drop_reply code. Cause nlm_drop_reply to cause the rpc request to get rpc_drop_reply when this error comes back. Cause svc_process to drop a request which returns a status of rpc_drop_reply. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
