* backlight: pm8941-wled: Move PM8941 WLED driver to backlightBjorn Andersson2015-08-251-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | The Qualcomm PM8941 WLED block is used for backlight and should therefor be in the backlight framework and not in the LED framework. This moves the driver and adapts to the backlight api instead. * backlight: Allow compile test of GPIO consumers if !GPIOLIBGeert Uytterhoeven2015-06-231-3/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The GPIO subsystem provides dummy GPIO consumer functions if GPIOLIB is not enabled. Hence drivers that depend on GPIOLIB, but use GPIO consumer functionality only, can still be compiled if GPIOLIB is not enabled. Relax the dependency on GPIOLIB if COMPILE_TEST is enabled, where appropriate. * backlight: add an AS3711 PMIC backlight driverGuennadi Liakhovetski2013-02-211-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is an initial commit of a backlight driver, using step-up DCDC power supplies on AS3711 PMIC. Only one mode has actually been tested, several further modes have been implemented "dry," but disabled to avoid accidental hardware damage. Anyone wishing to use any of those modes will have to modify the driver. Tested on sh73a0-based kzm9g board. Only one mode has been tested and is enabled. That mode copies the sample code from the manufacturer. Deviations from that code proved to be fatal for the hardware... |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The TPS65217 chip contains a boost converter and current sinks which can be used to drive LEDs for use as backlights. Expose this functionality via the backlight API. Tested on an AM335x based custom board with a single WLED string, using different values for ISEL and FDIM (though it would be hard to tell the difference except for the value in WLEDCTRL1). Both instantiation through the device tree and by passing platform data have been tested. Testing has been done with an Androidized 3.2 kernel from the rowboat project. The subsystem has been in development for over half a year now and many drivers have already been converted. It has been in linux-next for a couple of weeks and there have been no major issues so I think it is ready for inclusion in your tree." Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>: "Very much Ack on the new subsystem. It uses the interface declarations as the previously separate pwm drivers, so nothing changes for now in the drivers using it, although it enables us to change those more easily in the future if we want to. This work is also one of the missing pieces that are required to eventually build ARM kernels for multiple platforms, which is currently prohibited (amongs other things) by the fact that you cannot have more than one driver exporting the pwm functions." * backlight: add driver for DA9052/53 PMIC v1Ashish Jangam2012-04-051-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | DA9052/53 PMIC has capability to supply power for upto 3 banks of 6 white serial LEDS. It can also control intensity of independent banks and to drive these banks boost converter will provide up to 24V and forward current of max 50mA. This patch allows to control intensity of the individual WLEDs bank through DA9052/53 PMIC. This patch is functionally tested on Samsung SMDKV6410. * backlight: add support for Pandora backlightGrazvydas Ignotas2012-03-231-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add support for pandora (openpandora.org) backlight. It might look like all this could be done using pwm_bl.c instead, but there is a need of special programming sequence when turning on the LED driver chip or else it will misbehave. Doing this using pwm_bl.c would require to use some register programming and pwm functions from platform code, and ARM maintainers are allergic to driver-like code in /arch/arm nowadays. The PMIC PWM driver is currently missing too, so pwm_bl.c can't be used anyway. * backlight: new backlight driver for LP855x devicesKim, Milo2012-03-231-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | THis driver supports TI LP8550/LP8551/LP8552/LP8553/LP8556 backlight devices. The brightness can be controlled by the I2C or PWM input. The lp855x driver provides both modes. For the PWM control, pwm-specific functions can be defined in the platform data. And some information can be read via the sysfs(lp855x device attributes).
