* [PATCH] slab: remove kmem_cache_tChristoph Lameter2006-12-071-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Replace all uses of kmem_cache_t with struct kmem_cache. The patch was generated using the following script: #!/bin/sh # # Replace one string by another in all the kernel sources. # set -e for file in `find * -name "*.c" -o -name "*.h"|xargs grep -l $1`; do quilt add $file sed -e "1,\$s/$1/$2/g" $file >/tmp/$$ mv /tmp/$$ $file quilt refresh done The script was run like this sh replace kmem_cache_t "struct kmem_cache" Signed-off-by: Christoph Lameter <clameter@sgi.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] slab: remove SLAB_ATOMICChristoph Lameter2006-12-071-2/+2
| | | | | | | | SLAB_ATOMIC is an alias of GFP_ATOMIC Signed-off-by: Christoph Lameter <clameter@sgi.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* usbmon: don't call mon_dmapeek if DMA isn't being usedAlan Stern2006-09-273-6/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch (as755b) fixes a bug in usbmon. Rather than assuming all USB host controllers use DMA, the code will check the usb_bus data structure. If DMA isn't used, we don't want to try peeking into a non-existent DMA buffer! Signed-off-by: Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* usbcore: trim down usb_bus structureAlan Stern2006-09-271-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As part of the ongoing program to flatten out the HCD bus-glue layer, this patch (as771b) eliminates the hcpriv, release, and kref fields from struct usb_bus. hcpriv and release were not being used for anything worthwhile, and kref has been moved into the enclosing usb_hcd structure. Along with those changes, the patch gets rid of usb_bus_get and usb_bus_put, replacing them with usb_get_hcd and usb_put_hcd. The one interesting aspect is that the dev_set_drvdata call was removed from usb_put_hcd, where it clearly doesn't belong. This means the driver private data won't get reset to NULL. It shouldn't cause any problems, since the private data is undefined when no driver is bound. Signed-off-by: Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* USB: Make file operations structs in drivers/usb const.Luiz Fernando N. Capitulino2006-09-273-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | Making structs const prevents accidental bugs and with the proper debug options they're protected against corruption. Signed-off-by: Luiz Fernando N. Capitulino <lcapitulino@mandriva.com.br> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] inode_diet: Replace inode.u.generic_ip with inode.i_privateTheodore Ts'o2006-09-272-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The following patches reduce the size of the VFS inode structure by 28 bytes on a UP x86. (It would be more on an x86_64 system). This is a 10% reduction in the inode size on a UP kernel that is configured in a production mode (i.e., with no spinlock or other debugging functions enabled; if you want to save memory taken up by in-core inodes, the first thing you should do is disable the debugging options; they are responsible for a huge amount of bloat in the VFS inode structure). This patch: The filesystem or device-specific pointer in the inode is inside a union, which is pretty pointless given that all 30+ users of this field have been using the void pointer. Get rid of the union and rename it to i_private, with a comment to explain who is allowed to use the void pointer. This is just a cleanup, but it allows us to reuse the union 'u' for something something where the union will actually be used. * [PATCH] USB: remove empty destructor from drivers/usb/mon/mon_text.cChristoph Lameter2006-07-121-6/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Remove destructor and call kmem_cache_create with NULL for the destructor. * [PATCH] USB: implement error event in usbmonPete Zaitcev2006-06-213-4/+44
| | | | | | | Implement the "error" event in usbmon. Signed-off-by: Pete Zaitcev <zaitcev@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] USB: update usbmon, fix glued linesPete Zaitcev2006-06-215-7/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This update contains one bug fix: some lines can come out truncated, because of the safety cutoff. This happened because I forgot to update the size when status packets began to be printed. The rest is: - Comments updates - Allow snooping with pkmap on x86_64, which is cache-coherent - Enlarge event buffers (certainly we can have a couple of pages) - Add event counter First touch upon usbmon for 2.6.18. * [PATCH] USB: convert a bunch of USB semaphores to mutexesArjan van de Ven2006-03-203-20/+22
| | | | | | | | the patch below converts a bunch of semaphores-used-as-mutex in the USB code to mutexes Signed-off-by: Arjan van de Ven <arjan@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] USB: Let usbmon collect less garbagePete Zaitcev2006-01-041-13/+6
| | | | | | | | | | Alan Stern pointed out that (in 2.6 kernel) one successful submission results in one callback, even for ISO-out transfers. Thus, the silly check can be removed from usbmon. This reduces the amount of garbage printed in case of ISO and Interrupt transfers. Signed-off-by: Pete Zaitcev <zaitcev@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] USB: convert usbmon to use usb notifiersGreg Kroah-Hartman2005-10-281-2/+21
| | | | | | This also removes 2 usbmon callbacks. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] USB: Usbmon setup DMA patchPete Zaitcev2005-09-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Alan Stern sent me this patch. It goes on top of the patch the adds mon_dmapeek: http://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/gregkh/gregkh-2.6/gregkh-04-usb/usb-usbmon-dma-areas.patch Please be warned about ordering requirements or the build may fail. Actually, mon_dmapeek is generic enough to support SETUP packets too. * [PATCH] usbmon in 2.6.13: peeking into DMA areasPete Zaitcev2005-09-084-19/+77
| | | | | | | | | | This code looks at urb->transfer_dma, maps the page and takes the data. I am looking for volunteers to contribute architectures other than i386 or to develop an architecure-neutral API for it (or point me that it was done already). * [PATCH] USB: ub documentation updatePete Zaitcev2005-08-042-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | The patch which went in was correct, but not quite what I had in mind. Here is a patch to update that a little bit. Original patch is at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=4749f32da939d4e4160541b2cadc22492bb507ec Signed-off-by: Pete Zaitcev <zaitcev@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] USB: Patch to make usbmon to print control setup packetsPete Zaitcev2005-07-121-5/+43
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Make usbmon to print Setup packets of Control transfers. This is useful when debugging enumeration issues. This is a change to the trace format which is not fully compatible. A parser has to look at the data length word now. If that word is a character like 's', read setup packet before proceeding with data. I decided not to bump the API tag for this because not many such parsers exist at this point. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
