| * pcmcia: pcmcia_config_loop() improvement by passing vccDominik Brodowski2008-08-231-22/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | By passing the current Vcc setting to the pcmcia_config_loop callback function, we can remove pcmcia_get_configuration_info() calls from many drivers. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * pcmcia: pcmcia_config_loop() default CIS entry handlingDominik Brodowski2008-08-231-10/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Many drivers use the default CIS entry within their pcmcia_config_loop() callback function. Therefore, factor the default CIS entry handling out. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * pcmcia: pcmcia_config_loop() ConfigIndex unificationDominik Brodowski2008-08-231-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Almost all drivers set p_dev->conf.ConfigIndex to cfg->index in the pcmcia_config_loop() callback function. Therefore, factor it out. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * pcmcia: use pcmcia_loop_config in net pcmcia driversDominik Brodowski2008-08-231-90/+85

* | pcmcia: Fix up legacy driver IRQsAlan Cox2008-09-241-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The PCMCIA layer obsoleted asking for per device private IRQS some years ago and all the drivers by inspection correctly use dev_id and handle shared interrupts [they get em anyway in most PCI bridged PCMCIA/Cardbus] so can be adjusted. This gets rid of the various bugs reported where there is spewage about conflicting irq types and sometimes the driver won't load. (Note I don't have all of these devices to test each one beyond by inspection) Signed-off-by: Alan Cox <alan@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
* | orinoco: Invoke firmware download in main driverDavid Kilroy2008-08-221-145/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Firmware download is enabled for Agere in orinoco_cs. Symbol firmware download has been moved out of spectrum_cs into orinoco_cs. Firmware download is not enabled for Intersil. Symbol based firmware is restricted to only download on spectrum_cs based cards. The firmware names are hardcoded for each firmware type. * | orinoco: Make firmware download logic more genericDavid Kilroy2008-08-221-9/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Ensure PDA read is terminated. Prevent invalid programming blocks from causing reads outside the firmware image Turn off aux stuff when finished. Option to program in limited block sizes (controlled by macro). Option to read PDA from EEPROM. Signed-off-by: David Kilroy <kilroyd@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: John W. * | orinoco: Move firmware download functionality into new moduleDavid Kilroy2008-08-221-273/+1
|/ | | | | | | | Move the functionality from spectrum_cs to hermes_dld in preparation for making it more generic and usable by other orinoco drivers. Signed-off-by: David Kilroy <kilroyd@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
* [NET]: Nuke SET_MODULE_OWNER macro.Ralf Baechle2007-10-101-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | It's been a useless no-op for long enough in 2.6 so I figured it's time to remove it. The number of people that could object because they're maintaining unified 2.4 and 2.6 drivers is probably rather small. * Network: convert network devices to use struct device instead of class_deviceGreg Kroah-Hartman2007-02-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | This lets the network core have the ability to handle suspend/resume issues, if it wants to. Thanks to Frederik Deweerdt <frederik.deweerdt@gmail.com> for the arm driver fixes. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: conf.ConfigBase and conf.Present consolidationDominik Brodowski2006-12-041-15/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | struct pcmcia_device *p_dev->conf.ConfigBase and .Present are set in almost all PCMICA driver right at the beginning, using the same calls but slightly different implementations. Unfiy this in the PCMCIA core. Includes a small bugfix ("drivers/net/pcmcia/xirc2ps_cs.c: remove unused label") from and Signed-off-by Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de> Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] spectrum_cs: Fix firmware uploading errorsRichard Purdie2006-08-241-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | spectrum_cs: Fix the logic so we error when the device is *not* present! This fixes firmware upload failures which prevent the driver from working (the bug is also present in 2.6.17). Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <rpurdie@rpsys.net> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jeff@garzik.org>
* [PATCH] release_firmware() fixesMagnus Damm2006-07-101-21/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Use release_firmware() to free requested resources. According to Documentation/firmware_class/README the request_firmware() call should be followed by a release_firmware(). Some drivers do not however free the firmware previously allocated with request_firmware(). This patch tries to fix this by making sure that release_firmware() is used as expected. * [PATCH] orinoco: simplify locking, fix error handling in PCMCIA resumePavel Roskin2006-05-051-4/+3
| | | | | | | | Don't use flags in the spinlocks - the PCMCIA resume functions may not be called under lock. Don't ignore any errors. Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
* [PATCH] orinoco: report more relevant data on startupPavel Roskin2006-05-051-13/+4
| | | | | | | | | Report only the first I/O window and IRQ, and also add the driver name. The second I/O window, Vpp and configuration index are not interesting to most users. They can be found by PCMCIA debug tools if needed. Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
* [PATCH] orinoco: unregister network device before releasing PCMCIA resourcesPavel Roskin2006-05-051-6/+3
| | | | | | | | | Hardware resources should not be made available to other devices while the network device is still registered. Also remove the related debug statements. Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
* [PATCH] orinoco replace hermes_write_words() with hermes_write_bytes()Pavel Roskin2006-04-241-4/+3
| | | | | | | | The new function can write an odd number of bytes, thus making padding unnecessary. Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>

* [PATCH] orinoco: remove underscores from little-endian field namesPavel Roskin2006-04-241-14/+14
| | | | | | | Sparse is much better at finding endianess issues than such visual cues. Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
* [PATCH] orinoco: remove PCMCIA audio support, it's useless for wireless cardsPavel Roskin2006-04-241-6/+0
| | | | | Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
* [PATCH] orinoco: Remove useless CIS validationPavel Roskin2006-04-241-3/+0
| | | | | | | | The PCMCIA drivers would never be loaded if the CIS were wrong. No other PCMCIA drivers validate CIS. Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: use bitfield instead of p_state and stateDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-23/+14
| | | | | | | | | | Instead of the two status values struct pcmcia_device->p_state and state, use descriptive bitfields. Most value-checking in drivers was invalid, as the core now only calls the ->remove() (a.k.a. detach) function in case the attachement _and_ configuration was successful. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: add return value to _config() functionsDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-8/+7
| | | | | | | | Most of the driver initialization isn't done in the .probe function, but in the internal _config() functions. Make them return a value, so that .probe can properly report whether the probing of the device succeeded or not. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: remove dev_link_t and client_handle_t indirectionDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-43/+37
| | | | | | | dev_link_t * and client_handle_t both mean struct pcmcai_device * by now. Therefore, remove all such indirections. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: embed dev_link_t into struct pcmcia_deviceDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-12/+9
| | | | | | | | | Embed dev_link_t into struct pcmcia_device(), as they basically address the same entity. The actual contents of dev_link_t will be cleaned up step by step. This patch includes a bugfix from and signed-off-by Andrew Morton. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: remove unneeded Vcc pseudo settingDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-9/+7
| | | | | | | | | As we do not allow setting Vcc in the pcmcia core, and Vpp1 and Vpp2 can only be set to the same value, a lot of code can be streamlined. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: default suspend and resume handlingDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-7/+0
| | | | | | | | | | In all but one case, the suspend and resume functions of PCMCIA drivers contain mostly of calls to pcmcia_release_configuration() and pcmcia_request_configuration(). Therefore, move this code out of the drivers and into the core. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: convert remaining users of pcmcia_release_io and _irqDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-2/+1
| | | | | | | | Convert the remaining drivers which use pcmcia_release_io or pcmcia_release_irq, and remove the EXPORT of these symbols. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: add pcmcia_disable_deviceDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-7/+1
| | | | | | | | | | pcmcia_disable_device(struct pcmcia_device *p_dev) performs the necessary cleanups upon device or driver removal: it calls the appropriate pcmcia_release_* functions, and can replace (most) of the current drivers' _release() functions. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] s/;;/;/gAlexey Dobriyan2006-03-241-1/+1
| | | | | | Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: unify attach, EVENT_CARD_INSERTION handlers into one probe ↵Dominik Brodowski2006-01-061-53/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | callback Unify the EVENT_CARD_INSERTION and "attach" callbacks to one unified probe() callback. As all in-kernel drivers are changed to this new callback, there will be no temporary backwards-compatibility. Inside a probe() function, each driver _must_ set struct pcmcia_device *p_dev->instance and instance->handle correctly. With these patches, the basic driver interface for 16-bit PCMCIA drivers now has the classic four callbacks known also from other buses: int (*probe) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); void (*remove) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); int (*suspend) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); int (*resume) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: remove dev_list from driversDominik Brodowski2006-01-061-10/+1
| | | | | | | | The linked list of devices managed by each PCMCIA driver is, in very most cases, unused. Therefore, remove it from many drivers. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: unify detach, REMOVAL_EVENT handlers into one remove callbackDominik Brodowski2006-01-061-32/+5
| | | | | | | | Unify the "detach" and REMOVAL_EVENT handlers to one "remove" function. Old functionality is preserved, for the moment. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: new suspend coreDominik Brodowski2006-01-051-43/+53
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Move the suspend and resume methods out of the event handler, and into special functions. Also use these functions for pre- and post-reset, as almost all drivers already do, and the remaining ones can easily be converted. Bugfix to include/pcmcia/ds.c Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] orinoco: Annotate endianess of variables and structure members.Pavel Roskin2005-09-231-10/+10
| | | | | | | | | | Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Annotate endianess of variables and structure members. Don't reuse variables for both host-endian and little-endian data. Minor comment changes in affected structures. Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@pobox.com>
* [PATCH] orinoco: Remove unneeded forward declarations.Pavel Roskin2005-09-231-12/+3
| | | | | | | | | | Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Remove unneeded forward declarations. Also reorder struct pcmcia_driver initialization to keep attach and detach together. Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@pobox.com>
* [PATCH] orinoco: Remove inneeded system includes.Pavel Roskin2005-09-231-15/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Signed-off-by: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Remove inneeded system includes. Most system includes are not needed. In particular, the hardware backends don't need anything network related. Some includes have been moved from local headers to the C files where they are actually used. Includes that have to be in the local headers are no longer from the C sources. Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@pobox.com>
* [PATCH] orinoco: Update PCMCIA ID's.Pavel Roskin2005-09-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Author: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Date: Fri Sep 16 01:07:47 2005 -0400 Update PCMCIA ID's. Intel Pro/Wireless 2011 and 2011B have the same numeric ID, so use strings instead. Take all entries from *.conf for Orinoco, HostAP and linux-wlan-ng and adds them with minimal changes (e.g. we don't need a revision string after a string that identifies the chipset). Add comments with card names to all numeric entries. Note: the comments don't and cannot cover all cards, since the main reason of having numeric IDs is to cover cards that are often rebranded. * [PATCH] orinoco: Remove conditionals that are useless in the kernel drivers.Pavel Roskin2005-09-161-25/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Author: Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org> Date: Fri Sep 16 00:49:05 2005 -0400 Remove conditionals that are useless in the kernel drivers. Kernel drivers are never compiled against pcmcia-cs headers. Firmware is never embedded into spectrum_cs module.
