* mac80211: fix TX sequence numbersJohannes Berg2008-07-141-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch makes mac80211 assign proper sequence numbers to QoS-data frames. It also removes the old sequence number code because we noticed that only the driver or hardware can assign sequence numbers to non-QoS-data and especially management frames in a race-free manner because beacons aren't passed through mac80211's TX path. This patch also adds temporary code to the rt2x00 drivers to not break them completely, that code will have to be reworked for proper sequence numbers on beacons. It also moves sequence number assignment down in the TX path so no sequence numbers are assigned to frames that are dropped. * mac80211: revamp beacon configurationJohannes Berg2008-07-141-28/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch changes mac80211's beacon configuration handling to never pass skbs to the driver directly but rather always require the driver to use ieee80211_beacon_get(). Additionally, it introduces "change flags" on the config_interface() call to enable drivers to figure out what is changing. Finally, it removes the beacon_update() driver callback in favour of having IBSS beacon delivered by ieee80211_beacon_get() as well. | * b43: Fix PIO skb clobberMichael Buesch2008-06-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This fixes a clobber of the skb that was introduced by the tx_control->cb conversion patches. This bug causes a crash when the skb destructor is invoked. That happens on skb_orphan or skb_kfree. Signed-off-by: Michael Buesch <mb@bu3sch.de> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
| * b43: Add debugfs firmware debugging knobMichael Buesch2008-06-273-0/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This adds a firmware debugging knob to debugfs. With this knob it's possible to enable advanced runtime firmware checks. For now it only implements one sanity check for the mac-suspend. In future there'll probably be more. If CONFIG_B43_DEBUG is disabled, these checks will collapse to nothing. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This adds a simple firmware watchdog for the opensource firmware. This will check every 15 seconds, if the firmware zeroed out the watchdog register. | * ssb, b43, b43legacy, b44: Rewrite SSB DMA APIMichael Buesch2008-06-271-30/+35
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is a rewrite of the DMA API for SSB devices. This is needed, because the old (non-existing) "API" made too many bad assumptions on the API of the host-bus (PCI). This introduces an almost complete SSB-DMA-API that maps to the lowlevel bus-API based on the bustype. Signed-off-by: Michael Buesch <mb@bu3sch.de> Signed-off-by: John W. Use b43-fwdump from the b43-tools repository to dump microcode registers. * | mac80211: move TX info into skb->cbJohannes Berg2008-05-218-98/+90
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch converts mac80211 and all drivers to have transmit information and status in skb->cb rather than allocating extra memory for it and copying all the data around. To make it fit, a union is used where only data that is necessary for all steps is kept outside of the union. A number of fixes were done by Ivo, as well as the rt2x00 part of this patch. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch modifies struct ieee80211_tx_control to give band info and the rate index (instead of rate pointers) to drivers. This mostly serves to reduce the TX control structure size to make it fit into skb->cb so that the fragmentation code can put it there and we can think about passing it to drivers that way in the future. * | b43: Rewrite LO calibration algorithmMichael Buesch2008-05-078-686/+396
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch distributes the Local Oscillator calibration bursts over time, so that calibration only happens when it's actually needed. Currently we periodically perform a recalibration of the whole table. The table is huge and this takes lots of time. Additionally only small bits of the table are actually needed at a given time. So instead of maintaining a huge table with all possible calibration values, we create dynamic calibration settings that a) We only calibrate when they are actually needed. b) Are cached for some time until they expire. So a recalibration might happen if we need a calibration setting that's not cached, or if the active calibration setting expires. Currently the expire timeout is set to 30 seconds. We may raise that in future. This patch reduces overall memory consumption by nuking the huge static calibration tables. This patch has been tested on several 4306, 4311 and 4318 flavours. * | mac80211: Replace ieee80211_tx_control->key_idx with ieee80211_key_confIvo van Doorn2008-05-071-1/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The hw_key_idx inside the ieee80211_key_conf structure does not provide all the information drivers might need to perform hardware encryption. This is in particular true for rt2x00 who needs to know the key algorithm and whether it is a shared or pairwise key. By passing the ieee80211_key_conf pointer it assures us that drivers can make full use of all information that it should know about a particular key. Additionally this patch updates all drivers to grab the hw_key_idx from the ieee80211_key_conf structure. v2: Removed bogus u16 cast v3: Add warning about ieee80211_tx_control pointers v4: Update warning about ieee80211_tx_control pointers Signed-off-by: Ivo van Doorn <IvDoorn@gmail.com> Acked-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W.
