* qlogic: Move the QLogic driversJeff Kirsher2011-08-101-835/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Moves the QLogic drivers into drivers/net/ethernet/qlogic/ and the necessary Kconfig and Makefile changes. * ethtool: cosmetic: Use ethtool ethtool_cmd_speed APIDavid Decotigny2011-04-291-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This updates the network drivers so that they don't access the ethtool_cmd::speed field directly, but use ethtool_cmd_speed() instead. For most of the drivers, these changes are purely cosmetic and don't fix any problem, such as for those 1GbE/10GbE drivers that indirectly call their own ethtool get_settings()/mii_ethtool_gset(). The changes are meant to enforce code consistency and provide robustness with future larger throughputs, at the expense of a few CPU cycles for each ethtool operation. All drivers compiled with make allyesconfig ion x86_64 have been updated. Tested: make allyesconfig on x86_64 + e1000e/bnx2x work Signed-off-by: David Decotigny <decot@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* ethtool: Use full 32 bit speed range in ethtool's set_settingsDavid Decotigny2011-04-291-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | This makes sure the ethtool's set_settings() callback of network drivers don't ignore the 16 most significant bits when ethtool calls their set_settings(). All drivers compiled with make allyesconfig on x86_64 have been updated. Signed-off-by: David Decotigny <decot@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* net: fix ethtool->set_flags not intended -EINVAL return valueStanislaw Gruszka2011-03-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After commit d5dbda23804156ae6f35025ade5307a49d1db6d7 "ethtool: Add support for vlan accleration.", drivers that have NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_TX, and/or NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_RX feature, but do not allow enable/disable vlan acceleration via ethtool set_flags, always return -EINVAL from that function. Fix by returning -EINVAL only if requested features do not match current settings and can not be changed by driver. Change any driver that define ethtool->set_flags to use ethtool_invalid_flags() to avoid similar problems in the future (also on drivers that do not have the problem). Tested with modified (to reproduce this bug) myri10ge driver. Cc: stable@kernel.org # 2.6.37+ Signed-off-by: Stanislaw Gruszka <sgruszka@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. | | | | | | | | | | | | | o Enable/disable LRO in device based on NETIF_F_LRO flag, instead of using driver private flag. o Disable LRO, if rx csum offloading is off. | | | | | | | | | | Kernel default tx csum function (ethtool_op_get_tx_csum) doesn't show correct csum status. * netxen: remove low level tx lockDhananjay Phadke2008-03-251-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | o eliminate tx lock in netxen adapter struct, instead pound on netdev tx lock appropriately. o remove old "concurrent transmit" code that unnecessarily drops and reacquires tx lock in hard_xmit_frame(), this is already serialized the netdev xmit lock. o reduce scope of tx lock in tx cleanup. tx cleanup operates on different section of the ring than transmitting cpus and is guarded by producer and consumer indices. This fixes a race caused by rx softirq preemption on realtime kernels.
