* net: dl2k: Use setup_timerVaishali Thakkar2015-05-311-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Use the timer API function setup_timer instead of structure field assignments to initialize a timer. A simplified version of the Coccinelle semantic patch that performs this transformation is as follows: @change@ expression e1, e2, e3, e4, a, b; @@ -init_timer(&e1); +setup_timer(&e1, a, b); ... when != a = e2 when != b = e3 -e1.data = b; ... when != a = e4 -e1.function = a; Signed-off-by: Vaishali Thakkar <vthakkar1994@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * net: get rid of SET_ETHTOOL_OPSWilfried Klaebe2014-05-131-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | net: get rid of SET_ETHTOOL_OPS Dave Miller mentioned he'd like to see SET_ETHTOOL_OPS gone. This does that. Mostly done via coccinelle script: @@ struct ethtool_ops *ops; struct net_device *dev; @@ - SET_ETHTOOL_OPS(dev, ops); + dev->ethtool_ops = ops; Compile tested only, but I'd seriously wonder if this broke anything. * net: dl2k: remove unnecessary pci_set_drvdata()Jingoo Han2013-10-211-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure. Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* drivers:net: Remove unnecessary OOM messages after netdev_alloc_skbJoe Perches2013-03-091-5/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Emitting netdev_alloc_skb and netdev_alloc_skb_ip_align OOM messages is unnecessary as there is already a dump_stack after allocation failures. Other trivial changes around these removals: Convert a few comparisons of pointer to 0 to !pointer. Change flow to remove unnecessary label. Remove now unused variable. Hoist assignment from if. * ethtool: fix drvinfo strings set in driversJiri Pirko2013-01-061-3/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | Use strlcpy where possible to ensure the string is \0 terminated. Use always sizeof(string) instead of 32, ETHTOOL_BUSINFO_LEN and custom defines. Use snprintf instead of sprint. Remove unnecessary inits of ->fw_version Remove unnecessary inits of drvinfo struct. Signed-off-by: Jiri Pirko <jiri@resnulli.us> Signed-off-by: David S. * dlink: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton2012-12-031-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. Remove use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit. In 'net' we added a bug fix to make iwlwifi report a more accurate skb->truesize but this conflicted with RX path changes that happened meanwhile in net-next. In e1000e a conflict arose in the validation code for settings of adapter->itr. 'net-next' had more sophisticated logic so that logic was used. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
| * dl2k: Clean up rio_ioctlJeff Mahoney2012-04-261-43/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The dl2k driver's rio_ioctl call has a few issues: - No permissions checking - Implements SIOCGMIIREG and SIOCGMIIREG using the SIOCDEVPRIVATE numbers - Has a few ioctls that may have been used for debugging at one point but have no place in the kernel proper. This patch removes all but the MII ioctls, renumbers them to use the standard ones, and adds the proper permission check for SIOCSMIIREG. We can also get rid of the dl2k-specific struct mii_data in favor of the generic struct mii_ioctl_data. Since we have the phyid on hand, we can add the SIOCGMIIPHY ioctl too. Most of the MII code for the driver could probably be converted to use the generic MII library but I don't have a device to test the results.
