| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | deprecated We have some duplicate functionality between the zc0301 and gspca-zc3xx, the sn9c102 and gspca-sonixb + gspca-sonix, and et61x251 and gscpa-etoms drivers. The non gspca versions of these drivers not only show a lot of code duplicty (amongsth each other), as they all copy the same generic usb webcam code instead of using some sort of framework. They also have not seen any updates for more then 2 years, where as the gspca drivers are actively maintained. So it is time for the non gspca versions of these drivers to go away, marking them as deprecated is the first step in this. | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since internal to v4l2 the ioctl prototype is the same regardless of it being called through .ioctl or .unlocked_ioctl, we need to convert it all to the long return type of unlocked_ioctl. * V4L/DVB (10135): v4l2: introduce v4l2_file_operations.Hans Verkuil2009-01-021-11/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce a struct v4l2_file_operations for v4l2 drivers. Remove the unnecessary inode argument. Move compat32 handling (and llseek) into the v4l2-dev core: this is now handled in the v4l2 core and no longer in the drivers themselves. Note that this changeset reverts an earlier patch that changed the return type of__video_ioctl2 from int to long. This change will be reinstated later in a much improved version. * V4L/DVB (9521): V4L: struct device - replace bus_id with dev_name(), ↵Kay Sievers2008-12-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | dev_set_name() This patch is part of a larger patch series which will remove the "char bus_id[20]" name string from struct device. The device name is managed in the kobject anyway, and without any size limitation, and just needlessly copied into "struct device". To set and read the device name dev_name(dev) and dev_set_name(dev) must be used. If your code uses static kobjects, which it shouldn't do, "const char *init_name" can be used to statically provide the name the registered device should have. At registration time, the init_name field is cleared, to enforce the use of dev_name(dev) to access the device name at a later time. We need to get rid of all occurrences of bus_id in the entire tree to be able to enable the new interface. Please apply this patch, and possibly convert any remaining remaining occurrences of bus_id. We want to submit a patch to -next, which will remove bus_id from "struct device", to find the remaining pieces to convert, and finally switch over to the new api, which will remove the 20 bytes array and does no longer have a size limitation. * V4L/DVB (9327): v4l: use video_device.num instead of minor in video%dHans Verkuil2008-10-211-12/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The kernel number of a v4l2 node (e.g. videoX, radioX or vbiX) is now independent of the minor number. So instead of using the minor field of the video_device struct one has to use the num field: this always contains the kernel number of the device node. I forgot about this when I did the v4l2 core change, so this patch converts all drivers that use it in one go. Luckily the change is trivial. * V4L/DVB (8880): PATCH: Fix parents on some webcam driversHans de Goede2008-09-041-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | While doing some testing using Luca Risolia's sonix driver I noticed that the video device did not get ACL's set to allow access by locally logged in users, nor does it show up as a video device in lshal, causing cheese to not see it. * V4L/DVB (5502): Sn9c102: more efficient register writing codeTrent Piepho2007-04-2713-537/+320
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There were many places in the driver which had long sequences of constant register initializations. These were done with one function call per register. The register address and value were immediate values in the function calls. This is very inefficient, as each register and value take twice the space when they are code, as each includes a push instruction to put it on the stack. There there is the overhead, both size and time, for a function call for each register. It's also quite a few lines of C code to do this. The patch creates a function that writes multiple registers from a list, and a macro that makes it easy to construct a such a list as a const static local to send to the function. This gets rid of quite a bit of C code, and shrinks the driver by around 8k, while at the same time being more efficient.
