* isdn/gigaset: drop unused ldisc methodsTilman Schmidt2015-07-151-24/+0
| | | | | | | | The line discipline read and write methods are optional so the dummy methods in ser_gigaset are unnecessary and can be removed. Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* isdn/gigaset: reset tty->receive_room when attaching ser_gigasetTilman Schmidt2015-07-151-1/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit 79901317ce80 ("n_tty: Don't flush buffer when closing ldisc"), first merged in kernel release 3.10, caused the following regression in the Gigaset M101 driver: Before that commit, when closing the N_TTY line discipline in preparation to switching to N_GIGASET_M101, receive_room would be reset to a non-zero value by the call to n_tty_flush_buffer() in n_tty's close method. With the removal of that call, receive_room might be left at zero, blocking data reception on the serial line. The present patch fixes that regression by setting receive_room to an appropriate value in the ldisc open method. * isdn/gigaset: enable Kernel CAPI support by defaultTilman Schmidt2014-12-101-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Kernel CAPI has been the recommended ISDN subsystem for the Gigaset driver since kernel release 2.6.34.2. It provides full backwards compatibility to the old I4L subsystem thanks to the capidrv module. I4L has been marked as deprecated for more than seven years. * isdn/gigaset: fix usb_gigaset write_cmd result raceTilman Schmidt2014-10-141-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | In usb_gigaset function gigaset_write_cmd(), the length field of the command buffer structure could be cleared by the transmit tasklet before it was used for the function's return value. Fix by copying to a local variable before scheduling the tasklet. Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* isdn/capi: handle CAPI 2.0 message parser failuresTilman Schmidt2014-10-141-23/+125
| | | | | | | | Have callers of capi_cmsg2message and capi_message2cmsg handle non-zero return values indicating failure. Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* isdn/gigaset: fix non-heap pointer deallocationTilman Schmidt2014-10-141-41/+70
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | at_state structures may be allocated individually or as part of a cardstate or bc_state structure. The disconnect() function handled both cases, creating a risk that it might try to deallocate an at_state structure that had not been allocated individually. Fix by splitting disconnect() into two variants handling cases with and without an associated B channel separately, and adding an explicit check. Spotted with Coverity. Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* isdn/gigaset: fix NULL pointer dereferenceTilman Schmidt2014-10-141-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | In do_action, a NULL pointer might be passed to function start_dial which will dereference it. Fix by adding a check for NULL before the call. Spotted with Coverity. Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* isdn/gigaset: limit raw CAPI message dump lengthTilman Schmidt2014-10-141-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | In dump_rawmsg, the length field from a received data package was used unscrutinized, allowing an attacker to control the size of the allocated buffer and the number of times the output loop iterates. Fix by limiting to a reasonable value. Spotted with Coverity. Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* isdn/gigaset: make sure controller name is null terminatedTilman Schmidt2014-10-141-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | In gigaset_isdn_regdev, the name field may not have a null terminator if the source string's length is equal to the buffer size. Fix by zero filling the structure and excluding the last byte of the name field from the copy. Spotted with Coverity. Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* isdn/gigaset: missing break in do_facility_reqTilman Schmidt2014-10-141-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | If we take the unsupported supplementary service notification mask path, we end up falling through and overwriting the error code. Insert a break statement to skip the remainder of the switch case and proceed to sending the reply message. Spotted with Coverity. Reported-by: Dave Jones <davej@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* isdn/gigaset: use USB API function usb_endpoint_num()Tilman Schmidt2014-10-051-7/+5
| | | | | | | | | Use function usb_endpoint_num() for the bulk endpoint and store the endpoint number in the cardstate structure instead of the raw endpoint address value. Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

|/ | | | | | | | | | | | It allows for cleaning up on a considerable amount of places. They did port_get, wakeup, kref_put. Now the only thing needed is to call tty_port_tty_wakeup which does exactly that. One exception is ifx6x60 where tty_wakeup was open-coded. We now call tty_wakeup properly there. | * tty: Added a CONFIG_TTY option to allow removal of TTYJoe Millenbach2013-01-181-0/+1

This saves space on systems that won't support TTY interfaces anyway. bloat-o-meter output is below. The bulk of this patch consists of Kconfig changes adding "depends on TTY" to various serial devices and similar drivers that require the TTY layer. Ideally, these dependencies would occur on a common intermediate symbol such as SERIO, but most drivers "select SERIO" rather than "depends on SERIO", and "select" does not respect dependencies. bloat-o-meter output comparing our previous minimal to new minimal by removing TTY. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more tty_port_tty_get in those paths. Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed: tty_flip_buffer_push. IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get at all yet. Also we move tty_flip_buffer_push declaration from include/linux/tty.h to include/linux/tty_flip.h to all others while we are changing it anyway. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | One point is to have less places where we actually need tty pointer. The other is that low_latency is bound to buffer processing and buffers are now in tty_port. So it makes sense to move low_latency to tty_port too. * TTY: call tty_port_destroy in the rest of driversJiri Slaby2012-11-151-4/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After commit "TTY: move tty buffers to tty_port", the tty buffers are not freed in some drivers. This is because tty_port_destructor is not called whenever a tty_port is freed. This was an assumption I counted with but was unfortunately untrue. So fix the drivers to fulfil this assumption. To be sure, the TTY buffers (and later some stuff) are gone along with the tty_port, we have to call tty_port_destroy at tear-down places. This is mostly where the structure containing a tty_port is freed. This patch does exactly that -- put tty_port_destroy at those places. * bas_gigaset: fix pre_reset handlingTilman Schmidt2012-10-261-3/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The delayed work function int_in_work() may call usb_reset_device() and thus, indirectly, the driver's pre_reset method. Trying to cancel the work synchronously in that situation would deadlock. Fix by avoiding cancel_work_sync() in the pre_reset method. If the reset was NOT initiated by int_in_work() this might cause int_in_work() to run after the post_reset method, with urb_int_in already resubmitted, so handle that case gracefully. This benefits processes that have very many mostly idle sockets, which is quite common. From Eric Dumazet. 10) Use up to 32K for page fragment allocations, with fallbacks to smaller sizes when higher order page allocations fail. Benefits are a) less segments for driver to process b) less calls to page allocator c) less waste of space. From Eric Dumazet. 11) Allow GRO to be used on GRE tunnels, from Eric Dumazet. 12) VXLAN device driver, one way to handle VLAN issues such as the limitation of 4096 VLAN IDs yet still have some level of isolation. From Stephen Hemminger. 13) As usual there is a large boatload of driver changes, with the scale perhaps tilted towards the wireless side this time around. * | TTY: use tty_port_register_deviceJiri Slaby2012-08-131-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently we have no way to assign tty->port while performing tty installation. There are two ways to provide the link tty_struct => tty_port. Either by calling tty_port_install from tty->ops->install or tty_port_register_device called instead of tty_register_device when the device is being set up after connected. In this patch we modify most of the drivers to do the latter. When the drivers use tty_register_device and we have tty_port already, we switch to tty_port_register_device. So we have the tty_struct => tty_port link for free for those. It's touches a lot of different parts of the kernel, all USB drivers, due to some API cleanups (getting rid of the ancient err() macro) and some changes that are needed for USB 3.0 power management updates. There are also lots of new drivers, pimarily gadget, but others as well. We deleted a staging driver, which was nice, and finally dropped the obsolete usbfs code, which will make Al happy to never have to touch that again. There were some build errors in the tree that linux-next found a few days ago, but those were fixed by the most recent changes (all were due to us not building with CONFIG_PM disabled.) | * USB: Disable hub-initiated LPM for comms devices.Sarah Sharp2012-05-182-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Hub-initiated LPM is not good for USB communications devices. Comms devices should be able to tell when their link can go into a lower power state, because they know when an incoming transmission is finished. Ideally, these devices would slam their links into a lower power state, using the device-initiated LPM, after finishing the last packet of their data transfer. If we enable the idle timeouts for the parent hubs to enable hub-initiated LPM, we will get a lot of useless LPM packets on the bus as the devices reject LPM transitions when they're in the middle of receiving data. Worse, some devices might blindly accept the hub-initiated LPM and power down their radios while they're in the middle of receiving a transmission. The Intel Windows folks are disabling hub-initiated LPM for all USB communications devices under a xHCI USB 3.0 host. In order to keep the Linux behavior as close as possible to Windows, we need to do the same in Linux. Set the disable_hub_initiated_lpm flag for for all USB communications drivers. I know there aren't currently any USB 3.0 devices that implement these class specifications, but we should be ready if they do.
