* hwmon: convert drivers/hwmon/* to use module_i2c_driver()Axel Lin2012-03-181-12/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch converts the drivers in drivers/hwmon/* to use the module_i2c_driver() macro which makes the code smaller and a bit simpler. * module_param: make bool parameters really bool (drivers & misc)Rusty Russell2012-01-131-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | module_param(bool) used to counter-intuitively take an int. In fddd5201 (mid-2009) we allowed bool or int/unsigned int using a messy trick. It's time to remove the int/unsigned int option. For this version it'll simply give a warning, but it'll break next kernel version. * hwmon: replaced strict_str* with kstr*Frans Meulenbroeks2012-01-051-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | replaced strict_strtol with kstrtol and replaced strict_strtuol with kstrtuol This satisfies checkpatch -f Compile tested only: no warnings or errors given Signed-off-by: Frans Meulenbroeks <fransmeulenbroeks@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <guenter.roeck@ericsson.com>
* hwmon: (w83791d) rename prototype parameter from 'register' to 'reg'Chris Peterson2011-09-211-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | gcc -Wextra warns "register is not at beginning of declaration" because the compiler thinks the parameter has been marked as a 'register' variable, but the function prototype intended to name the parameter "register" (which is a reserved keyword). * i2c: Drop I2C_CLIENT_INSMOD_1Jean Delvare2009-12-141-2/+1
| | | | | | | | This macro simply declares an enum, so drivers might as well declare it themselves. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Tested-by: Wolfram Sang <w.sang@pengutronix.de>
* i2c: Get rid of struct i2c_client_address_dataJean Delvare2009-12-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | Struct i2c_client_address_data only contains one field at this point, which makes its usefulness questionable. Get rid of it and pass simple address lists around instead. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Tested-by: Wolfram Sang <w.sang@pengutronix.de>
* i2c: Drop the kind parameter from detect callbacksJean Delvare2009-12-141-2/+2
| | | | | | | | The "kind" parameter always has value -1, and nobody is using it any longer, so we can remove it. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Tested-by: Wolfram Sang <w.sang@pengutronix.de>
* hwmon: (w83791d) Clean up detect functionJean Delvare2009-12-091-42/+18
| | | | | | | As kind is now hard-coded to -1, there is room for code clean-ups. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Acked-by: Marc Hulsman <m.hulsman@tudelft.nl>
* hwmon: Don't overuse I2C_CLIENT_MODULE_PARMJean Delvare2009-01-071-1/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | I2C_CLIENT_MODULE_PARM is overkill for force_subclients. We really only use 4 out of the 48 slots, so we're better defining a custom variable instead. This change saves 92 bytes of data for each of the five drivers affected. * hwmon: (w83791d) fan 4/5 pins can also be used for gpioMarc Hulsman2008-10-171-3/+27
| | | | | | | | | Pins fan/pwm 4-5 can be in use as GPIO. If that is the case, do not create their sysfs-interface. Signed-off-by: Marc Hulsman <m.hulsman@tudelft.nl> Acked-by: Hans de Goede <j.w.r.degoede@hhs.nl> Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>

* hwmon: (w83791d) Use fan divisor bits from vbat registerMarc Hulsman2008-08-061-4/+20
| | | | | | | | | Update w83791d with fan bits in vbat mon register (7.48 of the datasheet). This change allows all fans to have a divisor of 128, and fixes a problem with incorrectly reported fan speeds. * hwmon: (w83791d) Convert to a new-style i2c driverJean Delvare2008-07-161-134/+71

* hwmon: VRM is not written to registersJean Delvare2008-02-071-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | What was true of reading the VRM value is also true of writing it: not being a register value, it doesn't need hardware access, so we don't need a reference to the i2c client. This allows for a minor code cleanup. As gcc appears to be smart enough to simplify the generated code by itself, this cleanup only affects the source code, the generated binaries are unchanged. * hwmon: VRM is not read from registersJean Delvare2007-10-091-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | The VRM value is not read from chip registers, so there's no need to update the device data cache before exporting the VRM value to user-space. * w83791d: Documentation updateCharles Spirakis2006-09-281-3/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | w83791d: Documentation update The alarm bits and the beep enable bits are in different positions in the hardware. Document the problem and leave it to the user-space code to handle the situation. When this driver is updated to the standardized sysfs alarm/beep methodology, this won't be a problem. This is a documentation only change. Signed-off by: Charles Spirakis <bezaur@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] HWMON: w83791d: New hardware monitoring driver for the Winbond W83791DCharles Spirakis2006-06-221-0/+1255
Add support for the w83791d sensor chip. The w83791d hardware is somewhere between the w83781d and the w83792d and this driver code is derived from the code that supports those chips.
