* Input: wacom - switch from an USB driver to a HID driverBenjamin Tissoires2014-07-251-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | All USB Wacom tablets are actually HID devices. For historical reasons, they are handled as plain USB devices. The current code makes more and more reference to the HID subsystem like implementing its own HID report descriptor parser to handle new devices. From the user point of view, we can transparently switch from this state to a driver handled in the HID subsystem and clean up a lot of USB specific code in the wacom.ko driver. The other benefit once the USB dependecies have been removed is that we can use a tool like uhid to make regression tests and allow further cleanup or new implementations without risking breaking current behaviors. To match the current handling of devices in wacom_wac.c, we rely on the hid_type set by usbhid. usbhid sets the hid_type to HID_TYPE_USBMOUSE when it sees a USB boot mouse protocol declared and HID_TYPE_USBNONE when the device is plain HID. There is thus a one to one matching between the list of supported devices before and after the switch from USB to HID. * HID: wacom: Intuos4 battery charging changesPrzemo Firszt2013-07-041-1/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Intuos4 WL is separately reporting power supply and battery charging status - now hid-wacom is using that information. Previously hid-wacom was wrongly treating "battery charging" bit as "power supply connected". Now it should report battery charging, battery discharging, battery full and power supply status. Intuos4 WL sends reports when is in use (obvious) and when unplugging power supply. If means that if the device is being charged, but it's not being used it will never report "battery full". The same problem happens after the device has been connected, but it's not in use - the battery/ac status will be incorrect. Currently there is no mechanism to ask the device to send a report containing battery/ac status. Signed-off-by: Przemo Firszt <przemo@firszt.eu> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Paul Walmsley has implemented dynamic quirk handling back in 2007 through commits: 2eb5dc30eb ("USB HID: encapsulate quirk handling into hid-quirks.c") 8222fbe67c ("USB HID: clarify static quirk handling as squirks") 8cef908235 ("USB HID: add support for dynamically-created quirks") 876b9276b9 ("USB HID: add 'quirks' module parameter") and as such, his copyright rightly belongs to drivers/hid/usbhid/hid-quirks.c file. However when generic HID code has been converted to bus and individual quirks separated out to individual drivers on the bus, the copyright has been blindly transfered into all the tiny drivers, which actually don't contain any of Pauls' copyrighted code. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch unifies speed setting for both supported tablets. Functionality of "wacom_poke" (used only by Graphire) is now in "wacom_set_features". Reporting speed for both tablets can be changed by somethinkg like: echo 1 > /sys/class/bluetooth/hci0/hci0:1/{device No}/speed Accepted values: 0 - low speed, 1 - high speed. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch doesn't change the way battery/ac is reported, but the changes are required to facilitate battery reporting for Intuos4 WL. wdata->battery_capacity now stores actual battery capacity as opposed to raw value reported by wacom graphire previously. Power supply state is now stored in a separate variable - it used to be calculated on-the-fly in wacom_ac_get_property function. * HID: wacom: make sysfs permissions more strictJiri Kosina2010-11-181-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | It's not really dangerous in this driver, but it's against general practice and worth fixing. Wacom uses the attribute for changing the reporting speed of the tablet (and this actually requires poking the device in the background) (still I wouldn't consider it a security issue though). udev is a proper place to handle this. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change all call sites in drivers/input to not access the ABS axis information directly anymore. Make them use the access helpers instead. Also use input_set_abs_params() when possible. Did some code refactoring as I was on it. |/ | | | | | | | | | This reverts commit ed9eac5b493c679ef5fc52273758fe334de82714. As reported by Bastien Nocera, the device actually uses a completely different protocol, so simply adding VID/PID doesn't work and completely new driver will need to be written.
