* HID: roccat: Rename header roccat.h -> hid-roccat.hStefan Achatz2011-02-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | It was desired that the header roccat.h should be named hid-roccat.h Signed-off-by: Stefan Achatz <erazor_de@users.sourceforge.net> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
* HID: roccat: Fix bug that prevented roccat chardev from removing devicesStefan Achatz2011-02-031-1/+4
| | | | | | | pointer to device was cleared too early. This is fixed now. Signed-off-by: Stefan Achatz <erazor_de@users.sourceforge.net> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
* HID: roccat: Add ioctl command to retreive report size from chardevStefan Achatz2011-02-031-10/+38
| | | | | | | | | | Roccat chardev was reworked to support only a defined report size per device and this can be retreived by an ioctl now to enable future changes in report definitions. Header was moved/renamed from drivers/hid to include/linux for accessibility. Signed-off-by: Stefan Achatz <erazor_de@users.sourceforge.net> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
* HID: roccat: use class for char device for sysfs attribute creationStefan Achatz2011-01-081-12/+5
| | | | | | | | | Adding sysfs attributes to an already created device raises no userland notification. Now the device drivers associate the devices attributes with a class and use this for roccat event char device creation. * HID: Add and use hid_<level>: dev_<level> equivalentsJoe Perches2010-12-101-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Neaten current uses of dev_<level> by adding and using hid specific hid_<level> macros. Convert existing uses of dev_<level> uses to hid_<level>. Convert hid-pidff printk uses to hid_<level>. Remove err_hid and use hid_err instead. Add missing newlines to logging messages where necessary. Coalesce format strings. Add and use pr_fmt(fmt) KBUILD_MODNAME ": " fmt Other miscellaneous changes: Add const struct hid_device * argument to hid-core functions extract() and implement() so hid_<level> can be used by them. Fix bad indentation in hid-core hid_input_field function that calls extract() function above. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
* HID: add hid_hw_open/close/power() handlersDmitry Torokhov2010-12-081-16/+10
| | | | | | | | Instead of exposing the guts of hid->ll_driver relationship to HID sub-drivers provide these helpers to encapsulate the details. Signed-off-by: Dmitry Torokhov <dtor@mail.ru> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
* llseek: automatically add .llseek fopArnd Bergmann2010-10-151-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | All file_operations should get a .llseek operation so we can make nonseekable_open the default for future file operations without a .llseek pointer. The three cases that we can automatically detect are no_llseek, seq_lseek and default_llseek. For cases where we can we can automatically prove that the file offset is always ignored, we use noop_llseek, which maintains the current behavior of not returning an error from a seek. New drivers should normally not use noop_llseek but instead use no_llseek and call nonseekable_open at open time. Existing drivers can be converted to do the same when the maintainer knows for certain that no user code relies on calling seek on the device file. The generated code is often incorrectly indented and right now contains comments that clarify for each added line why a specific variant was chosen. In the version that gets submitted upstream, the comments will be gone and I will manually fix the indentation, because there does not seem to be a way to do that using coccinelle. Some amount of new code is currently sitting in linux-next that should get the same modifications, which I will do at the end of the merge window. Many thanks to Julia Lawall for helping me learn to write a semantic patch that does all this. ===== begin semantic patch ===== // This adds an llseek= method to all file operations, // as a preparation for making no_llseek the default. // // The rules are // - use no_llseek explicitly if we do nonseekable_open // - use seq_lseek for sequential files // - use default_llseek if we know we access f_pos // - use noop_llseek if we know we don't access f_pos, // but we still want to allow users to call lseek // @ open1 exists @ identifier nested_open; @@ nested_open(...) { <+... nonseekable_open(...) ...+> } @ open exists@ identifier open_f; identifier i, f; identifier open1.nested_open; @@ int open_f(struct inode *i, struct file *f) { <+... * HID: roccat: propagate special events of roccat hardware to userspaceStefan Achatz2010-05-251-0/+428
Module roccat is a char device used to report special events of roccat hardware to userland. These events include requests for on-screen-display of profile or dpi settings or requests for execution of macro sequences that are not stored in device. The information in these events depends on hid device implementation and contains data that is not available in a single hid event or else hidraw could have been used. It is inspired by hidraw, but uses only one circular buffer for all readers. The device is as generic as possible so that the functionality is usable by all (kone and upcomming) roccat device drivers.
