* [PATCH] move capable() to capability.hRandy.Dunlap2006-01-111-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | - Move capable() from sched.h to capability.h; - Use <linux/capability.h> where capable() is used (in include/, block/, ipc/, kernel/, a few drivers/, mm/, security/, & sound/; many more drivers/ to go) Signed-off-by: Randy Dunlap <rdunlap@xenotime.net> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] driver core: replace "hotplug" by "uevent"Kay Sievers2006-01-041-23/+22
| | | | | | | | | Leave the overloaded "hotplug" word to susbsystems which are handling real devices. The driver core does not "plug" anything, it just exports the state to userspace and generates events. * [PATCH] fix leaks in request_firmware_nowaitmatthieu castet2005-11-131-4/+11
| | | | | | | | | Wasn't checking return error and forgot to free in some case. Signed-off-by: Matthieu CASTET <castet.matthieu@free.fr> Cc: Greg KH <greg@kroah.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] firmware: fix all kernel-doc warningsRandy Dunlap2005-10-301-28/+41
| | | | | | | | | Convert existing function docs to kernel-doc format. Eliminate all kernel-doc warnings. Fix some doc typos and a little whitespace cleanup. * [PATCH] modified firmware_class.c to support no hotplugAbhay Salunke2005-09-071-29/+50
| | | | | | | | | | | | Upgrade the request_firmware_nowait function to not start the hotplug action on a firmware update. This patch is tested along with dell_rbu driver on i386 and x86-64 systems. * [PATCH] request_firmware(): avoid race conditionsStanislaw W. Gruszka2005-06-281-3/+10
| | | | | | | | | | Avoid race occurs when some process have open file descriptor for class device attributes and already firmware allocated memory are freed. Don't allow negative loading timeout. * [PATCH] add TIMEOUT to firmware_class hotplug eventkay.sievers@vrfy.org2005-04-181-0/+3

Here we add a TIMEOUT value to the hotplug environment of the firmware requesting event. I will adapt udevd not to wait for anything else, if it finds a TIMEOUT key. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
