| * ACPICA: Move check for valid Thread ID structureDan Carpenter2009-12-151-9/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This change moves the check for a valid Thread ID structure up a few lines to insure that the check is made before the structure is actually used. Signed-off-by: Dan Carpenter <error27@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
| * ACPICA: Predefined name repair: automatically remove null package elementsBob Moore2009-12-153-78/+65
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This change will automatically remove embedded and trailing NULL package elements from returned package objects that are defined to containe a variable number of sub-packages. The driver is then presented with a package with no null elements to deal with. | * ACPICA: Module-level code: enable _REG execution in same scopeLin Ming2009-12-156-4/+36
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This change enables the execution of _REG methods that appear in the same scope as the module-level code, in resonse to an operation region declaration within the module-level code. | * ACPICA: Conditionally perform complex per-predefined-name repairsBob Moore2009-12-151-13/+24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Only attempt the "complex" repairs (package sorting, buffer expansion) if the previous "generic" validation and repair was successful. | * ACPICA: Update function headers and comments, no functional changeBob Moore2009-12-152-6/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Update comments for repair of _FDE and _GTM methods. Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
| * ACPICA: Remove messages if predefined repair(s) are successfulBob Moore2009-12-153-27/+36
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Repair mechanism was considered too wordy. Now, messages are only unconditionally emitted if the return object cannot be repaired. Existing messages for successful repairs were converted to ACPI_DEBUG_PRINT messages for now. | * ACPICA: Move Package-to-Buffer repair code into common ToBuffer functionBob Moore2009-12-153-49/+48
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move code specific to _FDE and _GTM into the generic repair code. Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
| * ACPICA: Fix mutex errors when running _REG methodsBob Moore2009-12-151-11/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fixes a problem where mutex errors can occur when running a _REG method that is in the same scope as a method-defined operation region or an operation region under a module-level IF block. This is rare, so the problem has not been seen before. ACPICA BZ 826. http://www.acpica.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=826 Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
| * ACPICA: Update function headers, no functional changeBob Moore2009-12-151-13/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fixed a few errors with the headers in utcopy.c Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
| * ACPICA: Add more conversions to predefined name repair moduleBob Moore2009-12-151-76/+327
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This change enhances the automatic repairs/conversions for predefined name return values to make Integers, Strings, and Buffers fully interchangeable. Also, a Buffer can be converted to a Package of Integers if necessary. The nsrepair.c module was completely restructured. | * ACPICA: Update internal namespace node/handle interfacesBob Moore2009-12-1512-77/+40
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This change deletes the unnecessary acpi_ns_convert_entry_to_handle interface and renames the acpi_ns_map_handle_to_node interface to acpi_ns_validate_handle. ACPICA BZ 798. http://www.acpica.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=798 Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
| * ACPICA: Add repair for bad _FDE/_GTM buffersBob Moore2009-12-152-11/+152
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The expected return value for both names is a Buffer of 5 DWORDS. This repair fixes two possible problems (both seen in the field): A package of integers is returned, or a buffer of BYTEs is returned. | * ACPICA: Fix two additional Scope override error messagesBob Moore2009-12-151-6/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These messages were using the internal path for the message instead of using the node name. Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
| * ACPICA: Fix two Scope type error messagesBob Moore2009-12-151-8/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Both messages incorrectly used the internal Path string instead of the node name. Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
| * ACPICA: Fix possible memory leak for module-level code executionLin Ming2009-12-151-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | An object can be leaked for each block of executed module-level code if the interpreter slack mode is enabled. The change deletes any implicitly returned object in this case. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The existing interface only has a pre-order callback. This change adds an additional parameter for a post-order callback which will be more useful for bus scans. ACPICA BZ 779. | * ACPICA: Change package length error message to an info messageBob Moore2009-11-241-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This message happens when the package element list is longer than the declared length of the package. Changed to an info message because this condition is not actually an error. It is caused by the BIOS attempting to truncate the package on the fly by adjusting the package element count at the start of the package definition. | * ACPICA: Remove possibility of executing _REG methods twiceLin Ming2009-11-241-5/+59
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If a custom address space handler is installed by the host before the "initialize operation regions" phase of the ACPICA initialization, any _REG methods for that address space could be executed twice. | * ACPICA: Add repair for bad _MAT buffersLin Ming2009-11-241-2/+21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | _MAT can inadvertently return an Integer instead of a Buffer if the return value has been read from a Field whose width is less than or equal to the global integer width (32 or 64 bits). * | ACPICA: Silence the warning about _BIF returning the bufferAlexey Starikovskiy2009-11-241-2/+3
|/ | | | | | | | | | _BIF was returning buffer instead of a string since day 1 of ACPI. Adding a warning for that is noble, but people don't like when someone cries wolf in a production system. * ACPICA: avoid "Info: mapping multiple BARs. Your kernel is fine."Bob Moore2009-11-052-12/+27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Ensure that memory mappings created for operation regions do not cross page boundaries. Crossing a page boundary while mapping regions can cause warnings if the pages have different attributes. | | * ACPICA: fix leak of acpi_os_validate_addressLin Ming2009-08-271-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13620 If the dynamic region is created and added to resource list over and over again, it has the potential to be a memory leak by growing the list every time. This patch fixes the memory leak, as below 1) add a new field "count" to struct acpi_res_list. When inserting, if the region(addr, len) is already in the resource list, we just increase "count", otherwise, the region is inserted with count=1. When deleting, the "count" is decreased, if it's decreased to 0, the region is deleted from the resource list. With "count", the region with same address and length can only be inserted to the resource list once, so prevent potential memory leak. 2) add a new function acpi_os_invalidate_address, which is called when region is deleted. This apparently can only happen if the BIOS changes the package size on the fly (seen in a _PSS object), as both iASL and the other compiler do not allow this. The interpreter will truncate the package to the defined size (and issue an error message), but can leave the extra objects undeleted if they have been pre-created during the argument processing (such is the case if the package consists of a number of sub-packages as in the _PSS.) | | * | ACPICA: Add repair for predefined methods that return nested packagesBob Moore2009-08-283-2/+84
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fixes a problem where a predefined method is defined to return a variable-length Package of sub-packages. If the length is one, the BIOS code occasionally creates a simple single package with no sub-packages. This code attempts to fix the problem by wrapping a new package object around the existing package. | | * | ACPICA: Fix: Predefined object repair executed only onceBob Moore2009-08-275-170/+277
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This fixes a problem where the code that attempts to repair/convert an object of incorrect type is only executed on the first time the predefined method is called. The mechanism that disables warnings on subsequent calls was interfering with the repair mechanism.
