* [PATCH] x86: Export _proxy_pda for gcc 4.2Andi Kleen2007-03-161-0/+1
| | | | | | | The symbol is not actually used, but the compiler unforunately generates a (unused) reference to it. This can happen even in modules. So export it. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>
* [PATCH] x86-64: Remove fastcall references in x86_64 codeGlauber de Oliveira Costa2007-02-131-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | Unlike x86, x86_64 already passes arguments in registers. The use of regparm attribute makes no difference in produced code, and the use of fastcall just bloats the code. * [PATCH] x86-64: Add __copy_from_user_nocacheAndi Kleen2007-02-131-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | This does user copies in fs write() into the page cache with write combining. This pushes the destination out of the CPU's cache, but allows higher bandwidth in some case. The theory is that the page cache data is usually not touched by the CPU again and it's better to not pollute the cache with it. Also it is a little faster. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>
* Remove all inclusions of <linux/config.h>Dave Jones2006-10-041-1/+0
| | | | | | kbuild explicitly includes this at build time. Signed-off-by: Dave Jones <davej@redhat.com>
* [PATCH] Fix zeroing on exception in copy_*_userAndi Kleen2006-09-261-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | - Don't zero for __copy_from_user_inatomic following i386. This will prevent spurious zeros for parallel file system writers when one does a exception - The string instruction version didn't zero the output on exception. Oops. Also I cleaned up the code a bit while I was at it and added a minor optimization to the string instruction path. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>
* [PATCH] x86_64: Move export symbols to their C functionsAndi Kleen2006-06-261-109/+5
| | | | | | | | Only exports for assembler files are left in x8664_ksyms.c Originally inspired by a patch from Al Viro Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] No arch-specific strpbrk implementationsKyle McMartin2006-04-111-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | While cleaning up parisc_ksyms.c earlier, I noticed that strpbrk wasn't being exported from lib/string.c. Investigating further, I noticed a changeset that removed its export and added it to _ksyms.c on a few more architectures. The justification was that "other arches do it." I think this is wrong, since no architecture currently defines __HAVE_ARCH_STRPBRK, there's no reason for any of them to be exporting it themselves. Therefore, consolidate the export to lib/string.c. * [PATCH] x86_64: Don't export strlen twiceAndi Kleen2006-04-091-2/+0

* [PATCH] unexport get_wchanAdrian Bunk2006-03-311-2/+0

* [PATCH] x86_64: Eliminate register_die_notifier symbol exportedKevin Winchester2006-03-251-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | register_die_notifier is exported twice, once in traps.c and once in x8664_ksyms.c. This results in a warning on build. Signed-off-by: Kevin Winchester <kwin@ns.sympatico.ca> Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

* [PATCH] multiple exports of strpbrkAndrew Morton2006-03-221-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Sam's tree includes a new check, which found that we're exporting strpbrk() multiple times. It seems that the convention is that this is exported from the arch files, so reove the lib/string.c export. * [PATCH] don't include ioctl32.h in driversChristoph Hellwig2006-01-101-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | These days ioctl32.h is only used for communication of fs/compat.c and fs/compat_ioctl.c and doesn't contain anything of interest to drivers. * [LIB]: Consolidate _atomic_dec_and_lock()David S. Miller2005-09-141-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | Several implementations were essentialy a common piece of C code using the cmpxchg() macro. Put the implementation in one spot that everyone can share, and convert sparc64 over to using this. Alpha is the lone arch-specific implementation, which codes up a special fast path for the common case in order to avoid GP reloading which a pure C version would require. Signed-off-by: David S. * [PATCH] x86_64: make string func definition work as intendedPaolo 'Blaisorblade' Giarrusso2005-05-051-13/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In include/asm-x86_64/string.h there are such comments: /* Use C out of line version for memcmp */ #define memcmp __builtin_memcmp int memcmp(const void * cs,const void * ct,size_t count); This would mean that if the compiler does not decide to use __builtin_memcmp, it emits a call to memcmp to be satisfied by the C out-of-line version in lib/string.c. What happens is that after preprocessing, in lib/string.i you may find the definition of "__builtin_strcmp". Actually, by accident, in the object you will find the definition of strcmp and such (maybe a trick intended to redirect calls to __builtin_memcmp to the default memcmp when the definition is not expanded); however, this particular case is not a documented feature as far as I can see. Also, the EXPORT_SYMBOL does not work, so it's duplicated in the arch. I simply added some #undef to lib/string.c and removed the (now duplicated) exports in x86-64 and UML/x86_64 subarchs (the second ones are introduced by another patch I just posted for -mm). Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
