Pull x86 cache resource controller updates from Thomas Gleixner:
"An update for the Intel Resource Director Technolgy (RDT) which adds a
feedback driven software controller to runtime adjust the bandwidth
allocation MSRs.
This makes the allocations more accurate and allows to use bandwidth
values in understandable units (MB/s) instead of using percentage
based allocations as the original, still available, interface.
The software controller can be enabled with a new mount option for the

mba_sc is a feedback loop where we periodically read MBM counters and
try to restrict the bandwidth below a max value so the below is always
true:
"current bandwidth(cur_bw) < user specified bandwidth(user_bw)"
The frequency of these checks is currently 1s and we just tag along the
MBM overflow timer to do the updates. Doing it once in a second also
makes the calculation of bandwidth easy. The steps of increase or
decrease of bandwidth is the minimum granularity specified by the
hardware.
Although the MBA's goal is to restrict the bandwidth below a maximum,
there may be a need to even increase the bandwidth. Since MBA controls
the L2 external bandwidth where as MBM measures the L3 external
bandwidth, we may end up restricting some rdtgroups unnecessarily. This
may happen in the sequence where rdtgroup (set of jobs) had high
"L3 <-> memory traffic" in initial phases -> mba_sc kicks in and reduced
bandwidth percentage values -> but after some it has mostly "L2 <-> L3"
traffic. In this scenario mba_sc increases the bandwidth percentage when
there is lesser memory traffic.

This is a preparatory patch for the mba feedback loop. Add support to
measure the "bandwidth in MBps" and the "delta bandwidth". Measure it by
reading the MBM IA32_QM_CTR MSRs and calculating the amount of "bytes"
moved. There is no user space interface for this and will only be used by
the feedback loop patch.

Currently when user updates the "schemata" with new MBA percentage
values, kernel writes the corresponding bandwidth percentage values to
the IA32_MBA_THRTL_MSR.
When MBA is expressed in MBps, the schemata format is changed to have the
per package memory bandwidth in MBps instead of being specified in
percentage. Do not write the IA32_MBA_THRTL_MSRs when the schemata is
updated as that is handled separately.

When MBA software controller is enabled, a per domain storage is required
for user specified bandwidth in "MBps" and the "percentage" values which
are programmed into the IA32_MBA_THRTL_MSR. Add support for these data
structures and initialization.
The MBA percentage values have a default max value of 100 but however the
max value in MBps is not available from the hardware so it's set to
U32_MAX.
This simply says that the control group can use all bandwidth by default
but does not say what is the actual max bandwidth available. The actual
bandwidth that is available may depend on lot of factors like QPI link,
number of memory channels, memory channel frequency, its width and memory
speed, how many channels are configured and also if memory interleaving is
enabled. So there is no way to determine the maximum at runtime reliably.

The x86 platform operations are fairly isolated, so it's easy to change
them from using timespec to timespec64. It has been checked that all the
users and callers are safe, and there is only one critical function that is
broken beyond 2106:
pvclock_read_wallclock() uses a 32-bit number of seconds since the epoch
to communicate the boot time between host and guest in a virtual
environment. This will work until 2106, but fixing this is outside the
scope of this change, Add a comment at least.

Pull 'y2038: IPC system call conversion' from Arnd Bergmann:
"This is a follow-up to Deepa's work on the timekeeping system calls,
providing a y2038-safe syscall API for SYSVIPC. It uses a combination
of two strategies:
For sys_msgctl, sys_semctl and sys_shmctl, I do not introduce a completely
new set of replacement system calls, but instead extend the existing
ones to return data in the reserved fields of the normal data structure.
This should be completely transparent to any existing user space, and
only after the 32-bit time_t wraps, it will make a difference in the
returned data.
libc implementations will consequently have to provide their own data
structures when they move to 64-bit time_t, and convert the structures
in user space from the ones returned by the kernel.
In contrast, mq_timedsend, mq_timedreceive and and semtimedop all do
need to change because having a libc redefine the timespec type
breaks the ABI, so with this series there will be two separate entry
points for 32-bit architectures.
There are three cases here:
- little-endian architectures (except powerpc and mips) can use
the normal layout and just cast the data structure to the user space
type that contains 64-bit numbers.
- parisc and sparc can do the same thing with big-endian user space
- little-endian powerpc and most big-endian architectures have
to flip the upper and lower 32-bit halves of the time_t value in memory,
but can otherwise keep using the normal layout
- mips and big-endian xtensa need to be more careful because
they are not consistent in their definitions, and they have to provide
custom libc implementations for the system calls to use 64-bit time_t."

This extends the x86 copy of the sysvipc data structures to deal with
32-bit user space that has 64-bit time_t and wants to see timestamps
beyond 2038.
Fortunately, x86 has padding for this purpose in all the data structures,
so we can just add extra fields. With msgid64_ds and shmid64_ds, the
data structure is identical to the asm-generic version, which we have
already extended.
For some reason however, the 64-bit version of semid64_ds ended up with
extra padding, so I'm implementing the same approach as the asm-generic
version here, by using separate fields for the upper and lower halves
of the two timestamps.

Pull y2038 timekeeping syscall changes from Arnd Bergmann:
This is the first set of system call entry point changes to enable 32-bit
architectures to have variants on both 32-bit and 64-bit time_t. Typically
these system calls take a 'struct timespec' argument, but that structure
is defined in user space by the C library and its layout will change.
The kernel already supports handling the 32-bit time_t on 64-bit
architectures through the CONFIG_COMPAT mechanism. As there are a total
of 51 system calls suffering from this problem, reusing that mechanism
on 32-bit architectures.
We already have patches for most of the remaining system calls, but this
set contains most of the complexity and is best tested. There was one
last-minute regression that prevented it from going into 4.17, but that
is fixed now.

The series is directed at converting posix clock syscalls:
clock_gettime, clock_settime, clock_getres and clock_nanosleep
to use a new data structure __kernel_timespec at syscall boundaries.
__kernel_timespec maintains 64 bit time_t across all execution modes.
vdso will be handled as part of each architecture when they enable
support for 64 bit time_t.
The compat syscalls are repurposed to provide backward compatibility
by using them as native syscalls as well for 32 bit architectures.
They will continue to use timespec at syscall boundaries.
CONFIG_64_BIT_TIME controls whether the syscalls use __kernel_timespec
or timespec at syscall boundaries.
The series does the following:
1. Enable compat syscalls on 32 bit architectures.
2. Add a new __kernel_timespec type to be used as the data structure
for all the new syscalls.
3. Add new config CONFIG_64BIT_TIME(intead of the CONFIG_COMPAT_TIME in
[1] and [2] to switch to new definition of __kernel_timespec. It is
the same as struct timespec otherwise.
4. Add new CONFIG_32BIT_TIME to conditionally compile compat syscalls.

All the current architecture specific defines for these
are the same. Refactor these common defines to a common
header file.
The new common linux/compat_time.h is also useful as it
will eventually be used to hold all the defines that
are needed for compat time types that support non y2038
safe types. New architectures need not have to define these
new types as they will only use new y2038 safe syscalls.
This file can be deleted after y2038 when we stop supporting
non y2038 safe syscalls.
The patch also requires an operation similar to:

Pull x86 RAS updates from Thomas Gleixner:
- Fix a stack out of bounds write in the MCE error injection code.
- Avoid IPIs during CPU hotplug to read the MCx_MISC block address from
a remote CPU. That's fragile and pointless because the block
addresses are the same on all CPUs. So they can be read once and
local.
- Add support for MCE broadcasting on newer VIA Centaur CPUs.

We used rdmsr_safe_on_cpu() to make sure we're reading the proper CPU's
MISC block addresses. However, that caused trouble with CPU hotplug due to
the _on_cpu() helper issuing an IPI while IRQs are disabled.
But we don't have to do that: the block addresses are the same on any CPU
so we can read them on any CPU. (What practically happens is, we read them
on the BSP and cache them, and for later reads, we service them from the
cache).

Each of the strings that we want to put into the buf[MAX_FLAG_OPT_SIZE]
in flags_read() is two characters long. But the sprintf() adds
a trailing newline and will add a terminating NUL byte. So
MAX_FLAG_OPT_SIZE needs to be 4.
sprintf() calls vsnprintf() and *that* does return:
" * The return value is the number of characters which would
* be generated for the given input, excluding the trailing
* '\0', as per ISO C99."
Note the "excluding".

Pull irq updates from Thomas Gleixner:
- Consolidation of softirq pending:
The softirq mask and its accessors/mutators have many implementations
scattered around many architectures. Most do the same things
consisting in a field in a per-cpu struct (often irq_cpustat_t)
accessed through per-cpu ops. We can provide instead a generic
efficient version that most of them can use. In fact s390 is the only
exception because the field is stored in lowcore.
- Support for level!?! triggered MSI (ARM)
Over the past couple of years, we've seen some SoCs coming up with
ways of signalling level interrupts using a new flavor of MSIs, where
the MSI controller uses two distinct messages: one that raises a
virtual line, and one that lowers it. The target MSI controller is in
charge of maintaining the state of the line.
This allows for a much simplified HW signal routing (no need to have
hundreds of discrete lines to signal level interrupts if you already
have a memory bus), but results in a departure from the current idea
the kernel has of MSIs.

Use the updated memcpy_mcsafe() implementation to define
copy_user_mcsafe() and copy_to_iter_mcsafe(). The most significant
difference from typical copy_to_iter() is that the ITER_KVEC and
ITER_BVEC iterator types can fail to complete a full transfer.

In preparation for using memcpy_mcsafe() to handle user copies it needs
to be to handle write-protection faults while writing user pages. Add
MMU-fault handlers alongside the machine-check exception handlers.
Note that the machine check fault exception handling makes assumptions
about source buffer alignment and poison alignment. In the write fault
case, given the destination buffer is arbitrarily aligned, it needs a
separate / additional fault handling approach. The mcsafe_handle_tail()
helper is reused. The @limit argument is set to @len since there is no
safety concern about retriggering an MMU fault, and this simplifies the
assembly.

Machine check safe memory copies are currently deployed in the pmem
driver whenever reading from persistent memory media, so that -EIO is
returned rather than triggering a kernel panic. While this protects most
pmem accesses, it is not complete in the filesystem-dax case. When
filesystem-dax is enabled reads may bypass the block layer and the
driver via dax_iomap_actor() and its usage of copy_to_iter().
In preparation for creating a copy_to_iter() variant that can handle
machine checks, teach memcpy_mcsafe() to return the number of bytes
remaining rather than -EFAULT when an exception occurs.

The memcpy_mcsafe() implementation handles CPU exceptions when reading
from the source address. Before it can be used for user copies it needs
to grow support for handling write faults. In preparation for adding
that exception handling update the labels for the read cache word X case
(.L_cache_rX) and write cache word X case (.L_cache_wX).

Sometimes it is useful to see which user opcode bytes RIP points to
when a fault happens: be it to rule out RIP corruption, to dump info
early during boot, when doing core dumps is impossible due to not having
a writable filesystem yet.
Sometimes it is useful if debugging an issue and one doesn't have access
to the executable which caused the fault in order to disassemble it.
That last aspect might have some security implications so
show_unhandled_signals could be revisited for that or a new config option
added.

The code used to iterate byte-by-byte over the bytes around RIP and that
is expensive: disabling pagefaults around it, copy_from_user, etc...
Make it read the whole buffer of OPCODE_BUFSIZE size in one go. Use a
statically allocated 64 bytes buffer so that concurrent show_opcodes()
do not interleave in the output even though in the majority of the cases
it's serialized via die_lock. Except the #PF path which doesn't...
Also, do the PAGE_OFFSET check outside of the function because latter
will be reused in other context.

This was added by
86c418374223 ("[PATCH] i386: add option to show more code in oops reports")
long time ago but experience shows that 64 instruction bytes are plenty
when deciphering an oops. So get rid of it.
Removing it will simplify further enhancements to the opcodes dumping
machinery coming in the following patches.

Kbuild uses the first file as the name for KBUILD_MODNAME.
mtrr uses main.c as its first file, so rename that file to mtrr.c
and fixup the Makefile.
Remove the now duplicate "mtrr: " prefixes from the logging calls.

dev_err is becoming a macro calling _dev_err to allow prefixing of
dev_fmt to any dev_<level> use that has a #define dev_fmt(fmt) similar
to the existing #define pr_fmt(fmt) uses.
Remove this dev_err macro and convert the existing two uses to pr_err.
This allows clean compilation in the patch that introduces dev_fmt which
can prefix dev_<level> logging macros with arbitrary content similar to
the #define pr_fmt macro.

Also improve the comments and some other details while at it:
- Don't mix same-line and previous-line comment style on otherwise
identical code patterns within the same function,
- capitalize 'BPF' and x86 register names consistently,
- capitalize sentences consistently,
- instead of 'x64' use 'x86-64': x64 is a Microsoft specific term,
- use more consistent punctuation,
- use standard coding style in macros as well,
- fix typos and a few other minor details.
Consistent coding style is not optional, at least in arch/x86/.
No change in functionality.
