* x86 module: merge the rest functions with macrosAmerigo Wang2009-06-121-133/+0
| | | | | | | | | Merge the rest functions together, with proper preprocessing directives. Finally remove module_{32|64}.c. Signed-off-by: WANG Cong <amwang@redhat.com> Cc: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au>
* x86 module: merge the same functions in module_32.c and module_64.cAmerigo Wang2009-06-121-61/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Merge the same functions both in module_32.c and module_64.c into module.c. This is the first step to merge both of them finally. Signed-off-by: WANG Cong <amwang@redhat.com> Cc: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au>

* PAGE_ALIGN(): correctly handle 64-bit values on 32-bit architecturesAndrea Righi2008-07-241-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On 32-bit architectures PAGE_ALIGN() truncates 64-bit values to the 32-bit boundary. For example: u64 val = PAGE_ALIGN(size); always returns a value < 4GB even if size is greater than 4GB. The problem resides in PAGE_MASK definition (from include/asm-x86/page.h for example): #define PAGE_SHIFT 12 #define PAGE_SIZE (_AC(1,UL) << PAGE_SHIFT) #define PAGE_MASK (~(PAGE_SIZE-1)) ... #define PAGE_ALIGN(addr) (((addr)+PAGE_SIZE-1)&PAGE_MASK) The "~" is performed on a 32-bit value, so everything in "and" with PAGE_MASK greater than 4GB will be truncated to the 32-bit boundary. Using the ALIGN() macro seems to be the right way, because it uses typeof(addr) for the mask. Also move the PAGE_ALIGN() definitions out of include/asm-*/page.h in include/linux/mm.h. * x86, 64-bit: patch paravirt inline replacements when loading modulesAnders H Kaseorg2008-06-301-1/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | small speedup. Paravirt replacements were added to the i386 module loader by commit 139ec7c416248b9ea227d21839235344edfee1e0. This adds the same code to the x86_64 module loader. Signed-off-by: Anders Kaseorg <andersk@mit.edu> Acked-by: "H. Peter Anvin" <hpa@zytor.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
