* sched/headers: Prepare for new header dependencies before moving code to ↵Ingo Molnar2017-03-021-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | <linux/sched/debug.h> We are going to split <linux/sched/debug.h> out of <linux/sched.h>, which will have to be picked up from other headers and a couple of .c files. Create a trivial placeholder <linux/sched/debug.h> file that just maps to <linux/sched.h> to make this patch obviously correct and bisectable. Include the new header in the files that are going to need it. * treewide: Constify most dma_map_ops structuresBart Van Assche2017-01-241-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Most dma_map_ops structures are never modified. Constify these structures such that these can be write-protected. * dma-mapping: use unsigned long for dma_attrsKrzysztof Kozlowski2016-08-041-10/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The dma-mapping core and the implementations do not change the DMA attributes passed by pointer. Thus the pointer can point to const data. However the attributes do not have to be a bitfield. Instead unsigned long will do fine: 1. This is just simpler. Both in terms of reading the code and setting attributes. Instead of initializing local attributes on the stack and passing pointer to it to dma_set_attr(), just set the bits. 2. It brings safeness and checking for const correctness because the attributes are passed by value. Semantic patches for this change (at least most of them): virtual patch virtual context @r@ identifier f, attrs; @@ f(..., - struct dma_attrs *attrs + unsigned long attrs , ...) { ... } @@ identifier r.f; @@ f(..., - NULL + 0 ) and // Options: --all-includes virtual patch virtual context @r@ identifier f, attrs; type t; @@ t f(..., struct dma_attrs *attrs); @@ identifier r.f; @@ f(..., - NULL + 0 ) Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/1468399300-5399-2-git-send-email-k.kozlowski@samsung.com Signed-off-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <k.kozlowski@samsung.com> Acked-by: Vineet Gupta <vgupta@synopsys.com> Acked-by: Robin Murphy <robin.murphy@arm.com> Acked-by: Hans-Christian Noren Egtvedt <egtvedt@samfundet.no> Acked-by: Mark Salter <msalter@redhat.com> [c6x] Acked-by: Jesper Nilsson <jesper.nilsson@axis.com> [cris] Acked-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> [drm] Reviewed-by: Bart Van Assche <bart.vanassche@sandisk.com> Acked-by: Joerg Roedel <jroedel@suse.de> [iommu] Acked-by: Fabien Dessenne <fabien.dessenne@st.com> [bdisp] Reviewed-by: Marek Szyprowski <m.szyprowski@samsung.com> [vb2-core] Acked-by: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@citrix.com> [xen] Acked-by: Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk <konrad.wilk@oracle.com> [xen swiotlb] Acked-by: Joerg Roedel <jroedel@suse.de> [iommu] Acked-by: Richard Kuo <rkuo@codeaurora.org> [hexagon] Acked-by: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert@linux-m68k.org> [m68k] Acked-by: Gerald Schaefer <gerald.schaefer@de.ibm.com> [s390] Acked-by: Bjorn Andersson <bjorn.andersson@linaro.org> Acked-by: Hans-Christian Noren Egtvedt <egtvedt@samfundet.no> [avr32] Acked-by: Vineet Gupta <vgupta@synopsys.com> [arc] Acked-by: Robin Murphy <robin.murphy@arm.com> [arm64 and dma-iommu] Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
* x86/kernel: Audit and remove any unnecessary uses of module.hPaul Gortmaker2016-07-141-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Historically a lot of these existed because we did not have a distinction between what was modular code and what was providing support to modules via EXPORT_SYMBOL and friends. That changed when we forked out support for the latter into the export.h file. This means we should be able to reduce the usage of module.h in code that is obj-y Makefile or bool Kconfig. The advantage in doing so is that module.h itself sources about 15 other headers; adding significantly to what we feed cpp, and it can obscure what headers we are effectively using. Since module.h was the source for init.h (for __init) and for export.h (for EXPORT_SYMBOL) we consider each obj-y/bool instance for the presence of either and replace as needed. Build testing revealed some implicit header usage that was fixed up accordingly. Note that some bool/obj-y instances remain since module.h is the header for some exception table entry stuff, and for things like __init_or_module (code that is tossed when MODULES=n). * x86: enable DMA CMA with swiotlbAkinobu Mita2014-06-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The DMA Contiguous Memory Allocator support on x86 is disabled when swiotlb config option is enabled. So DMA CMA is always disabled on x86_64 because swiotlb is always enabled. This attempts to support for DMA CMA with enabling swiotlb config option. The contiguous memory allocator on x86 is integrated in the function dma_generic_alloc_coherent() which is .alloc callback in nommu_dma_ops for dma_alloc_coherent(). x86_swiotlb_alloc_coherent() which is .alloc callback in swiotlb_dma_ops tries to allocate with dma_generic_alloc_coherent() firstly and then swiotlb_alloc_coherent() is called as a fallback. The main part of supporting DMA CMA with swiotlb is that changing x86_swiotlb_free_coherent() which is .free callback in swiotlb_dma_ops for dma_free_coherent() so that it can distinguish memory allocated by dma_generic_alloc_coherent() from one allocated by swiotlb_alloc_coherent() and release it with dma_generic_free_coherent() which can handle contiguous memory. This change requires making is_swiotlb_buffer() global function. This also needs to change .free callback in the dma_map_ops for amd_gart and sta2x11, because these dma_ops are also using dma_generic_alloc_coherent().
