* sparc: unify Kconfig.debugSam Ravnborg2008-12-041-44/+0
| | | | | | | Let sparc and sparc64 use the same Kconfig.debug Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* ftrace: rename FTRACE to FUNCTION_TRACERSteven Rostedt2008-10-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Due to confusion between the ftrace infrastructure and the gcc profiling tracer "ftrace", this patch renames the config options from FTRACE to FUNCTION_TRACER. The other two names that are offspring from FTRACE DYNAMIC_FTRACE and FTRACE_MCOUNT_RECORD will stay the same. This patch was generated mostly by script, and partially by hand. * [SPARC64]: Remove DEBUG_BOOTMEM.David S. Miller2008-02-131-4/+0
| | | | | | | We'll replace it in the future with better logging facilities that can be enabled at run time. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* Replace CONFIG_SOFTWARE_SUSPEND with CONFIG_HIBERNATIONRafael J. Wysocki2007-07-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | Replace CONFIG_SOFTWARE_SUSPEND with CONFIG_HIBERNATION to avoid confusion (among other things, with CONFIG_SUSPEND introduced in the next patch). Signed-off-by: Rafael J. Wysocki <rjw@sisk.pl> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
* [SPARC64]: Add irqtrace/stacktrace/lockdep support.David S. Miller2006-12-101-0/+4

* [PATCH] kconfig: clarify memory debug optionsAndrew Morton2006-03-251-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The Kconfig text for CONFIG_DEBUG_SLAB and CONFIG_DEBUG_PAGEALLOC have always seemed a bit confusing. Change them to: CONFIG_DEBUG_SLAB: "Debug slab memory allocations" CONFIG_DEBUG_PAGEALLOC: "Debug page memory allocations" Cc: "David S. Miller" <davem@davemloft.net> Cc: Hirokazu Takata <takata@linux-m32r.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] Move Kprobes and Oprofile to "Instrumentation Support" menuPrasanna S Panchamukhi2005-11-071-10/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Andrew Morton suggested to move kprobes from kernel hacking menu, since kernel hacking menu is in-appropriate for the Kprobes. This patch moves Kprobes and Oprofile under instrumentation menu. (akpm: it's not a natural fit, but things like djprobes and the s390 guys' statistics library need a home) Signed-of-by: Prasanna S Panchamukhi <prasanna@in.ibm.com> Cc: Philippe Elie <phil.el@wanadoo.fr> Cc: John Levon <levon@movementarian.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [SPARC64]: Add CONFIG_DEBUG_PAGEALLOC support.David S. Miller2005-09-251-0/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The trick is that we do the kernel linear mapping TLB miss starting with an instruction sequence like this: ba,pt %xcc, kvmap_load xor %g2, %g4, %g5 succeeded by an instruction sequence which performs a full page table walk starting at swapper_pg_dir. We first take over the trap table from the firmware. Then, using this constant PTE generation for the linear mapping area above, we build the kernel page tables for the linear mapping. After this is setup, we patch that branch above into a "nop", which will cause TLB misses to fall through to the full page table walk. With this, the page unmapping for CONFIG_DEBUG_PAGEALLOC is trivial. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [LIB]: Consolidate _atomic_dec_and_lock()David S. Miller2005-09-141-8/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | Several implementations were essentialy a common piece of C code using the cmpxchg() macro. Put the implementation in one spot that everyone can share, and convert sparc64 over to using this. Alpha is the lone arch-specific implementation, which codes up a special fast path for the common case in order to avoid GP reloading which a pure C version would require. Signed-off-by: David S. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
