* [PATCH] powerpc: Move udbg code to arch/powerpcDavid Gibson2005-11-111-125/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since the udbg code in ppc64 has no ppc32 equivalent, move it straight over into arch/powerpc (and include/asm-powerpc for udbg.h). In time, we probably want to meld the various bits and pieces of 32-bit early debugging code into udbg, but for now only include it on CONFIG_PPC64=y builds. The only change during the move is to standardise the protecting #ifdef/#define in udbg.h, and move its banner comment above the initial #ifdef (which seems to be normal practice). Built and booted on POWER5 LPAR (ARCH=powerpc and ARCH=ppc64). Built for 32bit multiplatform (ARCH=powerpc). * [PATCH] powerpc: Kill ppcdebugDavid Gibson2005-11-071-55/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The ancient ppcdebug/PPCDBG mechanism is now only used in two places. First, in the hash setup code, one of the bits allows the size of the hash table to be reduced by a factor of 8 - which would be better accomplished with a command line option for that purpose. The other was a bunch of bus walking related messages in the iSeries code, which would seem to be insufficient reason to keep the mechanism. This patch removes the last traces of this mechanism. Built and booted on iSeries and pSeries POWER5 LPAR (ARCH=powerpc). Signed-off-by: David Gibson <dwg@au1.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
* [PATCH] ppc64: iSeries early printk breakageStephen Rothwell2005-09-091-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | The earlier commit 8d9273918635f0301368c01b56c03a6f339e8d51 (Consolidate early console and PPCDBG code) broke iSeries because it caused unregister_console(&udbg_console) to be called unconditionally. iSeries never registers the udbg_console. This just reverts part of the change. Signed-off-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

* [PATCH] ppc64: Take udbg out of ppc_mdMilton Miller2005-09-061-6/+10

* [PATCH] ppc64: Split SCC and 15550 udbg codeMilton Miller2005-09-061-224/+1
| | | | | | | | | Split scc and 15550 functions from udbg each into their own file. This makes them more symetric with the lpar and btext code. Signed-off-by: Milton Miller <miltonm@bga.com> Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

* [PATCH] ppc64: Clean up CR handlingMilton Miller2005-09-061-12/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Make the 16550 and real mode 16550 use tail recursion like the scc code instead of repeating the routine except for the character sent. Gcc recoginizes the tail recursion and handles it efficently without stack allocations. The maple real putc shrinks from 188 to 104 bytes of instructions. udbg_putc drops from 188 to 140 bytes. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
