* mv643xx_eth: Place explicit port number in mv643xx_eth_platform_dataDale Farnsworth2007-03-061-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | We were using the platform_device.id field to identify which ethernet port is used for mv643xx_eth device. This is not generally correct. It will be incorrect, for example, if a hardware platform uses a single port but not the first port. Here, we add an explicit port_number field to struct mv643xx_eth_platform_data. This makes the mv643xx_eth_platform_data structure required, but that isn't an issue since all users currently provide it already. * [POWERPC] Merge 32 and 64 bits asm-powerpc/io.hBenjamin Herrenschmidt2006-12-041-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | powerpc: Merge 32 and 64 bits asm-powerpc/io.h The rework on io.h done for the new hookable accessors made it easier, so I just finished the work and merged 32 and 64 bits io.h for arch/powerpc. arch/ppc still uses the old version in asm-ppc, there is just too much gunk in there that I really can't be bothered trying to cleanup. * [POWERPC] Make pci_read_irq_line the defaultBenjamin Herrenschmidt2006-12-043-11/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch reworks the way IRQs are fixed up on PCI for arch powerpc. It makes pci_read_irq_line() called by default in the PCI code for devices that are probed, and add an optional per-device fixup in ppc_md for platforms that really need to correct what they obtain from pci_read_irq_line(). It also removes ppc_md.irq_bus_setup which was only used by pSeries and should not be needed anymore. I've also removed the pSeries s7a workaround as it can't work with the current interrupt code anyway. I'm trying to get one of these machines working so I can test a proper fix for that problem. I also haven't updated the old-style fixup code from 85xx_cds.c because it's actually buggy :) It assigns pci_dev->irq hard coded numbers which is no good with the new IRQ mapping code. It should at least use irq_create_mapping(NULL, hard_coded_number); and possibly also set_irq_type() to set them as level low. * [POWERPC] Fix CHRP platforms with only 8259Benjamin Herrenschmidt2006-10-251-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | On CHRP platforms with only a 8259 controller, we should set the default IRQ host to the 8259 driver's one for the IRQ probing fallbacks to work in case the IRQ tree is incorrect (like on Pegasos for example). Without this fix, we get a bunch of WARN_ON's during boot. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

* [POWERPC] Add briq support to CHRPBenjamin Herrenschmidt2006-07-072-5/+64
| | | | | | | | | | | The support for Briq machines has been floating around as patches for ages. This cleans it up and adds it once for all. Some of this is based on initial code provided by Karsten Jeppesen <karsten@jeppesens.com> and mostly rewritten from scratch by me. * [POWERPC] Fix non-MPIC CHRPs with CONFIG_SMP setBenjamin Herrenschmidt2006-07-071-4/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | Pseudo-CHRP machines like Pegasos without an MPIC would crash at boot if CONFIG_SMP was set because the "smp_ops" pointer was set to MPIC related ops unconditionally. This patch makes it NULL on machines that don't support SMP and provides proper default behaviour in the callers when smp_ops is NULL. | * kbuild: introduce utsrelease.hSam Ravnborg2006-07-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | include/linux/version.h contained both actual KERNEL version and UTS_RELEASE that contains a subset from git SHA1 for when kernel was compiled as part of a git repository. This had the unfortunate side-effect that all files including version.h would be recompiled when some git changes was made due to changes SHA1. Split it out so we keep independent parts in separate files. Also update checkversion.pl script to no longer check for UTS_RELEASE. Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org>
* | [POWERPC] Add new interrupt mapping core and change platforms to use itBenjamin Herrenschmidt2006-07-033-54/+68
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This adds the new irq remapper core and removes the old one. Because there are some fundamental conflicts with the old code, like the value of NO_IRQ which I'm now setting to 0 (as per discussions with Linus), etc..., this commit also changes the relevant platform and driver code over to use the new remapper (so as not to cause difficulties later in bisecting). This patch removes the old pre-parsing of the open firmware interrupt tree along with all the bogus assumptions it made to try to renumber interrupts according to the platform. This is all to be handled by the new code now. For the pSeries XICS interrupt controller, a single remapper host is created for the whole machine regardless of how many interrupt presentation and source controllers are found, and it's set to match any device node that isn't a 8259. That works fine on pSeries and avoids having to deal with some of the complexities of split source controllers vs. presentation controllers in the pSeries device trees. The powerpc i8259 PIC driver now always requests the legacy interrupt range. It also has the feature of being able to match any device node (including NULL) if passed no device node as an input. That will help porting over platforms with broken device-trees like Pegasos who don't have a proper interrupt tree. * | [PATCH] powerpc: Kill _machine and hard-coded platform numbersBenjamin Herrenschmidt2006-03-281-1/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This removes statically assigned platform numbers and reworks the powerpc platform probe code to use a better mechanism. With this, board support files can simply declare a new machine type with a macro, and implement a probe() function that uses the flattened device-tree to detect if they apply for a given machine. We now have a machine_is() macro that replaces the comparisons of _machine with the various PLATFORM_* constants. This commit also changes various drivers to use the new macro instead of looking at _machine. * | powerpc: Fix event-scan code for 32-bit CHRPPaul Mackerras2006-03-272-20/+46
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On CHRP machines we are supposed to call into firmware (RTAS) periodically, to give it a chance to check for errors and other events. Under ppc we had some special code in timer_interrupt to do this, but that didn't get transferred over to arch/powerpc. Instead, we use an array of timer_list structs, one per CPU, and use add_timer_on to make sure each one gets called on the appropriate CPU. With this we can remove the heartbeat_* elements of the ppc_md struct. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

| | | | | | | | | | This makes 32-bit CHRP systems use the RTAS time-of-day routines if available. It fixes a bug in the RTAS time-of-day routines where they were storing a 64-bit timebase value in an unsigned long by making those variables u64. Also, the direct-access time-of-day routines had the wrong convention for the month and year in the struct rtc_time. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
* ppc/powerpc: workarounds for old Open Firmware versionsPaul Mackerras2005-11-101-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This adds code to work around some problems with old versions of Open Firmware, such as on the early powermacs (7500 etc.) and the "Longtrail" CHRP machine. On these machines we have to claim the physical and virtual address ranges explicitly when claiming memory and then set up a V->P mapping. The Longtrail has more problems: setprop doesn't work, and we have to set an "allow-reclaim" variable to 0 in order to get claim on physical memory ranges to fail if the memory is already claimed.
