* powerpc/85xx: Add basic P1023RDS board supportRoy Zang2011-06-223-9/+177
| | | | | | | | | | The P1023 processor is an e500v2 based SoC that utilizes the DPAA networking architecture. This adds basic board support for non-DPAA functionality (device tree, board file, etc). * powerpc: Add a defconfig for 'corenet' 32-bit platformsKumar Gala2011-06-221-0/+183
| | | | | | | | The e500mc and e5500 based cores are only available on corenet based SoCs. We use this name for the P204x, P3040, P4040, P4080, P50x0 SoCs and any future processors in these families. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* powerpc: Rename e55xx_smp_defconfig to corenet64_smp_defconfigKumar Gala2011-06-221-0/+0
| | | | | | | | Rather than trying to use the core name we use corenet to distinquish the platform/core combo. corenet64 will be a 64-bit kernel build and we'll add a new defconfig for corenet32 for a 32-bit platforms. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* cgroup: remove the ns_cgroupDaniel Lezcano2011-05-262-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The ns_cgroup is an annoying cgroup at the namespace / cgroup frontier and leads to some problems: * cgroup creation is out-of-control * cgroup name can conflict when pids are looping * it is not possible to have a single process handling a lot of namespaces without falling in a exponential creation time * we may want to create a namespace without creating a cgroup The ns_cgroup was replaced by a compatibility flag 'clone_children', where a newly created cgroup will copy the parent cgroup values. The userspace has to manually create a cgroup and add a task to the 'tasks' file. This patch removes the ns_cgroup as suggested in the following thread: https://lists.linux-foundation.org/pipermail/containers/2009-June/018616.html The 'cgroup_clone' function is removed because it is no longer used. This is a userspace-visible change. Commit 45531757b45c ("cgroup: notify ns_cgroup deprecated") (merged into 2.6.27) caused the kernel to emit a printk warning users that the feature is planned for removal. Since that time we have heard from XXX users who were affected by this. Signed-off-by: Daniel Lezcano <daniel.lezcano@free.fr> Signed-off-by: Serge E. Hallyn <serge.hallyn@canonical.com> Cc: Eric W. | * powerpc/fsl: enable verbose bug outputScott Wood2011-05-1910-10/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This debug option has no overhead other than a slight increase in kernel size, and makes bug reports more useful. While some end users may prefer to save the space, as a default on a kernel config aimed primarily at development on reference boards, it should be enabled. | * powerpc/e5500: add networking to defconfigScott Wood2011-05-191-9/+29
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Even though support for the p5020's on-chip ethernet is not yet upstream, it is not appropriate to disable all networking support (including loopback, unix domain sockets, external ethernet devices, etc) in the defconfig. The networking settings are taken from mpc85xx_smp_defconfig, minus the drivers for ethernet devices not found on any current e5500 chip. The other changes are the result of running "make savedefconfig". Signed-off-by: Scott Wood <scottwood@freescale.com> Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>

* powerpc: Restore some misc devices to our configsStephen Rothwell2011-03-3015-0/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Uwe Kleine-König reported: while working on an defconfig (arm/mx27) I noticed that just updating it[1] results in removing CONFIG_EEPROM_AT24=y. The reason is that since commit v2.6.36-5965-g5f2365d (misc devices: do not enable by default) MISC_DEVICES isn't enabled anymore by default. So all defconfigs that have CONFIG_SOME_SYMBOL=y (or =m) (with SOME_SYMBOL depending on MISC_DEVICES) but not CONFIG_MISC_DEVICES=y suffer from the same problem. This restores those misc devices to the powerpc defconfigs. * | kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERTDavid Rientjes2011-01-2083-83/+83
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than only small devices. This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc). Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they are making should enable it.
