* move die notifier handling to common codeChristoph Hellwig2007-05-081-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch moves the die notifier handling to common code. Previous various architectures had exactly the same code for it. Note that the new code is compiled unconditionally, this should be understood as an appel to the other architecture maintainer to implement support for it aswell (aka sprinkling a notify_die or two in the proper place) arm had a notifiy_die that did something totally different, I renamed it to arm_notify_die as part of the patch and made it static to the file it's declared and used at. avr32 used to pass slightly less information through this interface and I brought it into line with the other architectures. * [PATCH] i386: make functions staticAdrian Bunk2006-09-261-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | This patch makes the following needlessly global functions static: - nmi_int.c: profile_exceptions_notify() - nmi_timer_int.c: profile_timer_exceptions_notify() Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de> Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>
* [PATCH] i386/x86-64: Remove un/set_nmi_callback and ↵Don Zickus2006-09-261-8/+25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | reserve/release_lapic_nmi functions Removes the un/set_nmi_callback and reserve/release_lapic_nmi functions as they are no longer needed. The various subsystems are modified to register with the die_notifier instead. Also includes compile fixes by Andrew Morton. * [PATCH] i386: Add SMP support on i386 to reservation frameworkDon Zickus2006-09-261-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch includes the changes to make the nmi watchdog on i386 SMP aware. A bunch of code was moved around to make it simpler to read. In addition, it is now possible to determine if a particular NMI was the result of the watchdog or not. This feature allows the kernel to filter out unknown NMIs easier. * [PATCH] useless includes of linux/irq.h in arch/i386Al Viro2005-09-261-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Most of these guys are simply not needed (pulled by other stuff via asm-i386/hardirq.h). One that is not entirely useless is hilarious - arch/i386/oprofile/nmi_timer_int.c includes linux/irq.h... as a way to get linux/errno.h Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] Fix function/macro name collision on i386 oprofileDavid Gibson2005-09-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The i386 OProfile code has a function named nmi_exit(), which collides with the nmi_exit() macro in linux/hardirq.h. At the moment, we get away with it, because hardirq.h isn't included in the oprofile code. I hit this as a bug when working with a patch which (indirectly) adds a #include of hardirq.h to oprofile. Regardless, the name collision is probably not a good idea, so this patch fixes it, renaming the oprofile function to op_nmi_exit(). It also renames the nmi_init() and nmi_timer_init() functions similarly, for consistency. * [PATCH] Change synchronize_kernel to _rcu and _schedPaul E. McKenney2005-05-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | This patch changes calls to synchronize_kernel(), deprecated in the earlier "Deprecate synchronize_kernel, GPL replacement" patch to instead call the new synchronize_rcu() and synchronize_sched() APIs. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
