* [PATCH] x86_64: Generalize DMI and enable for x86-64Andi Kleen2006-01-111-8/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some people need it now on 64bit so reuse the i386 code for x86-64. This will be also useful for future bug workarounds. It is a bit simplified there because there is no need to do it very early on x86-64. This means it doesn't need early ioremap et.al. We run it as a core initcall right now. I hope it's not needed for early setup. I added a general CONFIG_DMI symbol in case IA64 or someone else wants to reuse the code later too. * [PATCH] fix: dmi_check_systemRobert Love2005-09-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Background: 1) dmi_check_system() returns the count of the number of matches. Zero thus means no matches. 2) A match callback can return nonzero to stop the match checking. Bug: The count is incremented after we check for the nonzero return value, so it does not reflect the actual count. We could say this is intended, for some dumb reason, except that it means that a match on the first check returns zero--no matches--if the callback returns nonzero. Attached patch implements the count before calling the callback and thus before potentially short-circuiting. * [PATCH] dmi: add onboard devices discoveryAndrey Panin2005-09-071-12/+90
| | | | | | | | | | This patch adds onboard devices and IPMI BMC discovery into DMI scan code. Drivers can use dmi_find_device() function to search for devices by type and name. * [PATCH] dmi: make dmi_string() behave like strdup()Andrey Panin2005-09-071-16/+23
| | | | | | | | | This patch changes dmi_string() function to allocate string copy by itself, to avoid code duplication in the next patch. Signed-off-by: Andrey Panin <pazke@donpac.ru> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] dmi: remove old debugging codeAndrey Panin2005-09-071-21/+0
| | | | | | | | DMI debugging code is unused for ages. This patch removes it. Signed-off-by: Andrey Panin <pazke@donpac.ru> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] dmi: remove uneeded functionAndrey Panin2005-09-071-45/+40
| | | | | | | | | | After elimination of central DMI blacklist dmi_scan_machine() function became a wrapper for dmi_iterate(). This patch moves some code around to kill unneeded function. * [PATCH] dmi: remove central blacklistAndrey Panin2005-06-251-44/+1
| | | | | | | | | Since last dmi quirk looks useless (it just prints 404 compliant url) we can finally remove central dmi blacklist. Signed-off-by: Andrey Panin <pazke@donpac.ru> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

* [PATCH] I8K: use standard DMI interfaceDmitry Torokhov2005-06-251-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | I8K: Change to use stock dmi infrastructure instead of homegrown parsing code. The driver now requires box's DMI data to match list of supported models so driver can be safely compiled-in by default without fear of it poking into random SMM BIOS code. DMI checks can be ignored with i8k.ignore_dmi option. Signed-off-by: Dmitry Torokhov <dtor@mail.ru> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
