| * frv/PCI: Add struct pci_ops member names to initializationRob Herring2015-01-221-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some instances of pci_ops initialization rely on the read/write members' location in the struct. This is fragile and may break when adding new members to the beginning of the struct. No functional change. * | frv/PCI: Clip bridge windows to fit in upstream windowsYinghai Lu2015-01-161-1/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Every PCI-PCI bridge window should fit inside an upstream bridge window because orphaned address space is unreachable from the primary side of the upstream bridge. If we inherit invalid bridge windows that overlap an upstream window from firmware, clip them to fit and update the bridge accordingly. * PCI: Turn pcibios_penalize_isa_irq() into a weak functionHanjun Guo2014-05-271-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | pcibios_penalize_isa_irq() is only implemented by x86 now, and legacy ISA is not used by some architectures. Make pcibios_penalize_isa_irq() a __weak function to simplify the code. This removes the need for new platforms to add stub implementations of pcibios_penalize_isa_irq(). * PCI: frv: replace now removed pci_bus_b() causing build failurePaul Gortmaker2014-02-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | In commit 94e6a9b93064 ("PCI: Remove pci_bus_b() and use list_for_each_entry() directly") the function pci_bus_b() was removed, but one instance of its usage was missed. Replace it in the same fashion that the original commit did. * frv/PCI: Remove pcibios_last_busBjorn Helgaas2013-10-292-37/+0
| | | | | | | | pcibios_last_bus was apparently copied from x86. On FR-V, it is statically initialized to -1 and never changed unless the user boots with "pci=lastbus=<X>". I doubt that option is used on FR-V, so this patch removes all the code related to pcibios_last_bus. Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com>
* frv/PCI: Mark pcibios_fixup_bus() as non-initBjorn Helgaas2013-07-251-1/+1

* | ARCH: drivers remove __dev* attributes.Greg Kroah-Hartman2013-01-031-3/+3
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This fixes up all of the smaller arches that had __dev* markings for their platform-specific drivers. CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers. | * frv/PCI: convert to pci_scan_root_bus() for correct root bus resourcesBjorn Helgaas2012-01-061-6/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Convert from pci_scan_bus() to pci_scan_root_bus() and remove root bus resource fixups. This fixes the problem of "early" and "header" quirks seeing incorrect root bus resources. Note that peer root buses are scanned with pci_scan_bus() (which is now deprecated), so they have the default ioport_resource and iomem_resource resources. This is unchanged from before, but these resources are incorrect, and I don't know how to discover the correct ones. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch removes frv's architecture-specific 'pcibios_set_master()' routine and lets the default PCI core based implementation handle PCI device 'latency timer' setup. | * PCI: Pull PCI 'latency timer' setup up into the coreMyron Stowe2012-01-062-8/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The 'latency timer' of PCI devices, both Type 0 and Type 1, is setup in architecture-specific code [see: 'pcibios_set_master()']. There are two approaches being taken by all the architectures - check if the 'latency timer' is currently set between 16 and 255 and if not bring it within bounds, or, do nothing (and then there is the gratuitously different PA-RISC implementation). There is nothing architecture-specific about PCI's 'latency timer' so this patch pulls its setup functionality up into the PCI core by creating a generic 'pcibios_set_master()' function using the '__weak' attribute which can be used by all architectures as a default which, if necessary, can then be over-ridden by architecture-specific code. No functional change. Signed-off-by: Myron Stowe <myron.stowe@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Jesse Barnes <jbarnes@virtuousgeek.org>
* | frv: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAPMichael S. Tsirkin2011-12-042-30/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | frv uses a version of pci_iomap that simply casts and returns back the start address. Looking closely, both ioremap and ioport_map seem to do this on this platform, so the generic pci_iomap will DTRT automatically. Signed-off-by: Michael S. Tsirkin <mst@redhat.com>
* mm: stack based kmap_atomic()Peter Zijlstra2010-10-261-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Keep the current interface but ignore the KM_type and use a stack based approach. The advantage is that we get rid of crappy code like: #define __KM_PTE \ (in_nmi() ? KM_NMI_PTE : \ in_irq() ? KM_IRQ_PTE : \ KM_PTE0) and in general can stop worrying about what context we're in and what kmap slots might be appropriate for that. The downside is that FRV kmap_atomic() gets more expensive. For now we use a CPP trick suggested by Andrew: #define kmap_atomic(page, args...) __kmap_atomic(page) to avoid having to touch all kmap_atomic() users in a single patch. * include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo2010-03-303-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | pci_dma_sync_single was obsoleted long ago. All the comments are generic, not architecture specific, simply describes some of the DMA-API (and frv has the same comments in three files). * frv: insert PCI root bus resources for the MB93090 devel motherboardDavid Howells2009-04-211-13/+50
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Insert PCI root bus resources for the FRV-based MB93090 development kit motherboard. This is required because the CPU's window onto the PCI bus address space is considerably smaller than the CPU's full address space and non-PCI devices lie outside of the PCI window that we might want to access. Without this patch, the PCI root bus uses the platform-level bus resources, and these are then confined to the PCI window, thus making platform_device_add() reject devices outside of this window. * PCI: remove unused arch pcibios_update_resource() functionsAdrian Bunk2008-06-271-30/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Russell King did the following back in 2003: <-- snip --> [PCI] pci-9: Kill per-architecture pcibios_update_resource() Kill pcibios_update_resource(), replacing it with pci_update_resource(). pci_update_resource() uses pcibios_resource_to_bus() to convert a resource to a device BAR - the transformation should be exactly the same as the transformation used for the PCI bridges. pci_update_resource "knows" about 64-bit BARs, but doesn't attempt to set the high 32-bits to anything non-zero - currently no architecture attempts to do something different. If anyone cares, please fix; I'm going to reflect current behaviour for the time being. Ivan pointed out the following architectures need to examine their pcibios_update_resource() implementation - they should make sure that this new implementation does the right thing. #warning's have been added where appropriate. ia64 mips mips64 This cset also includes a fix for the problem reported by AKPM where 64-bit arch compilers complain about the resource mask being placed in a u32. <-- snip --> This patch removes the unused pcibios_update_resource() functions the kernel gained since, from FRV, m68k, mips & sh architectures. * iomap: fix 64 bits resources on 32 bitsBenjamin Herrenschmidt2008-04-291-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Almost all implementations of pci_iomap() in the kernel, including the generic lib/iomap.c one, copies the content of a struct resource into unsigned long's which will break on 32 bits platforms with 64 bits resources. This fixes all definitions of pci_iomap() to use resource_size_t. I also "fixed" the 64bits arch for consistency. * PCI: remove pcibios_fixup_ghosts()Greg Kroah-Hartman2008-04-201-53/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This function was obviously never being used since early 2.5 days as any device that it would try to remove would never really be removed from the system due to the PCI device list being held in the driver core, not the general list of PCI devices. As we have not had a single report of a problem here in 4 years, I think it's safe to remove now. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* PCI: remove initial bios sort of PCI devices on x86Greg Kroah-Hartman2008-04-201-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We currently keep 2 lists of PCI devices in the system, one in the driver core, and one all on its own. This second list is sorted at boot time, in "BIOS" order, to try to remain compatible with older kernels (2.2 and earlier days). There was also a "nosort" option to turn this sorting off, to remain compatible with even older kernel versions, but that just ends up being what we have been doing from 2.5 days... Unfortunately, the second list of devices is not really ever used to determine the probing order of PCI devices or drivers[1]. That is done using the driver core list instead. This change happened back in the early 2.5 days. Relying on BIOS ording for the binding of drivers to specific device names is problematic for many reasons, and userspace tools like udev exist to properly name devices in a persistant manner if that is needed, no reliance on the BIOS is needed. Matt Domsch and others at Dell noticed this back in 2006, and added a boot option to sort the PCI device lists (both of them) in a breadth-first manner to help remain compatible with the 2.4 order, if needed for any reason. This option is not going away, as some systems rely on them. This patch removes the sorting of the internal PCI device list in "BIOS" mode, as it's not needed at all anymore, and hasn't for many years. I've also removed the PCI flags for this from some other arches that for some reason defined them, but never used them. This should not change the ordering of any drivers or device probing. [1] The old-style pci_get_device and pci_find_device() still used this sorting order, but there are very few drivers that use these functions, as they are deprecated for use in this manner. If for some reason, a driver rely on the order and uses these functions, the breadth-first boot option will resolve any problem. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | So I think the right solution is to simply make pci_enable_device just flip enable bits and move the rest of the work someplace else.
