* blackfin/ptrace: call find_vma with the mmap_sem heldDavidlohr Bueso2014-06-061-2/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | Performing vma lookups without taking the mm->mmap_sem is asking for trouble. While doing the search, the vma in question can be modified or even removed before returning to the caller. Take the lock (shared) in order to avoid races while iterating through the vmacache and/or rbtree. * Blackfin: add new cacheflush syscallSonic Zhang2010-10-221-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | Flushing caches sometimes requires anomaly workarounds which require supervisor-only insns. Normally we don't need to flush caches from userspace so this isn't a problem, but when gcc generates trampolines on the stack, we do. So add a new syscall for gcc to use modeled after the mips version. Signed-off-by: Sonic Zhang <sonic.zhang@analog.com> Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>

* ptrace: unify FDPIC implementationsMike Frysinger2010-05-271-24/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Blackfin/FRV/SuperH guys all have the same exact FDPIC ptrace code in their arch handlers (since they were probably copied & pasted). Since these ptrace interfaces are an arch independent aspect of the FDPIC code, unify them in the common ptrace code so new FDPIC ports don't need to copy and paste this fundamental stuff yet again. * Blackfin: fix single stepping over system callsMike Frysinger2010-03-091-2/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | On Blackfin systems, the hardware single step exception triggers before the system call exception, so we need to save this info to process it later on. Otherwise, single stepping in userspace misses a few insns right after the system call. This is based a bit on the SuperH code added in commit 4b505db9c4c72dbd. * Blackfin: simplify SYSCFG code a bit and ignore attempts to change itMike Frysinger2010-03-091-18/+6
| | | | | | | | We don't want to let user space modify the SYSCFG register arbitrarily as the settings are system wide (SNEN/CNEN) and can cause misbehavior. The only other bit here (SSSTEP) has proper controls via PTRACE_SINGLESTEP. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
* Blackfin: use generic ptrace_resume codeChristoph Hellwig2010-03-091-44/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Use the generic ptrace_resume code for PTRACE_SYSCALL, PTRACE_CONT, PTRACE_KILL and PTRACE_SINGLESTEP. This implies defining arch_has_single_step in <asm/ptrace.h> and implementing the user_enable_single_step and user_disable_single_step functions, which also causes the breakpoint information to be cleared on fork, which could be considered a bug fix. Also the TIF_SYSCALL_TRACE thread flag is now cleared on PTRACE_KILL which it previously wasn't which is consistent with all architectures using the modern ptrace code. * Blackfin: mass clean up of copyright/licensing infoRobin Getz2009-10-071-25/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bill Gatliff & David Brownell pointed out we were missing some copyrights, and licensing terms in some of the files in ./arch/blackfin, so this fixes things, and cleans them up. It also removes: - verbose GPL text(refer to the top level ./COPYING file) - file names (you are looking at the file) - bug url (it's in the ./MAINTAINERS file) - "or later" on GPL-2, when we did not have that right It also allows some Blackfin-specific assembly files to be under a BSD like license (for people to use them outside of Linux). * Blackfin: add support for common FDPIC ptrace requestsMike Frysinger2009-09-161-2/+24

* Blackfin: convert ptrace to new memory functionsMike Frysinger2009-09-161-57/+72
| | | | | | | | | Now that we have a Blackfin memory function to figure out how to properly access the different regions, drop the custom memory range checks in our ptrace code and use that. It makes the code nicer and fixes bugs where the ptrace logic wasn't handling all the different regions. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>

* NOMMU: Make VMAs per MM as for MMU-mode linuxDavid Howells2009-01-081-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Make VMAs per mm_struct as for MMU-mode linux. This solves two problems: (1) In SYSV SHM where nattch for a segment does not reflect the number of shmat's (and forks) done. (2) In mmap() where the VMA's vm_mm is set to point to the parent mm by an exec'ing process when VM_EXECUTABLE is specified, regardless of the fact that a VMA might be shared and already have its vm_mm assigned to another process or a dead process. A new struct (vm_region) is introduced to track a mapped region and to remember the circumstances under which it may be shared and the vm_list_struct structure is discarded as it's no longer required. This patch makes the following additional changes: (1) Regions are now allocated with alloc_pages() rather than kmalloc() and with no recourse to __GFP_COMP, so the pages are not composite. Instead, each page has a reference on it held by the region. Anything else that is interested in such a page will have to get a reference on it to retain it. When the pages are released due to unmapping, each page is passed to put_page() and will be freed when the page usage count reaches zero. (2) Excess pages are trimmed after an allocation as the allocation must be made as a power-of-2 quantity of pages. (3) VMAs are added to the parent MM's R/B tree and mmap lists. As an MM may end up with overlapping VMAs within the tree, the VMA struct address is appended to the sort key. (4) Non-anonymous VMAs are now added to the backing inode's prio list. (5) Holes may be punched in anonymous VMAs with munmap(), releasing parts of the backing region. The VMA and region structs will be split if necessary. (6) sys_shmdt() only releases one attachment to a SYSV IPC shared memory segment instead of all the attachments at that addresss. Multiple shmat()'s return the same address under NOMMU-mode instead of different virtual addresses as under MMU-mode. (7) Core dumping for ELF-FDPIC requires fewer exceptions for NOMMU-mode. (8) /proc/maps is now the global list of mapped regions, and may list bits that aren't actually mapped anywhere. (9) /proc/meminfo gains a line (tagged "MmapCopy") that indicates the amount of RAM currently allocated by mmap to hold mappable regions that can't be mapped directly. These are copies of the backing device or file if not anonymous. These changes make NOMMU mode more similar to MMU mode. The downside is that NOMMU mode requires some extra memory to track things over NOMMU without this patch (VMAs are no longer shared, and there are now region structs). * rename thread_info to stackRoman Zippel2007-05-091-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This finally renames the thread_info field in task structure to stack, so that the assumptions about this field are gone and archs have more freedom about placing the thread_info structure. Nonbroken archs which have a proper thread pointer can do the access to both current thread and task structure via a single pointer. It'll allow for a few more cleanups of the fork code, from which e.g. ia64 could benefit. * blackfin architectureBryan Wu2007-05-071-0/+430
This adds support for the Analog Devices Blackfin processor architecture, and currently supports the BF533, BF532, BF531, BF537, BF536, BF534, and BF561 (Dual Core) devices, with a variety of development platforms including those avaliable from Analog Devices (BF533-EZKit, BF533-STAMP, BF537-STAMP, BF561-EZKIT), and Bluetechnix! Tinyboards. The Blackfin architecture was jointly developed by Intel and Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) as the Micro Signal Architecture (MSA) core and introduced it in December of 2000. Since then ADI has put this core into its Blackfin processor family of devices. The Blackfin core has the advantages of a clean, orthogonal,RISC-like microprocessor instruction set. It combines a dual-MAC (Multiply/Accumulate), state-of-the-art signal processing engine and single-instruction, multiple-data (SIMD) multimedia capabilities into a single instruction-set architecture. The Blackfin architecture, including the instruction set, is described by the ADSP-BF53x/BF56x Blackfin Processor Programming Reference http://blackfin.uclinux.org/gf/download/frsrelease/29/2549/Blackfin_PRM.pdf The Blackfin processor is already supported by major releases of gcc, and there are binary and source rpms/tarballs for many architectures at: http://blackfin.uclinux.org/gf/project/toolchain/frs There is complete documentation, including "getting started" guides available at: http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/ which provides links to the sources and patches you will need in order to set up a cross-compiling environment for bfin-linux-uclibc This patch, as well as the other patches (toolchain, distribution, uClibc) are actively supported by Analog Devices Inc, at: http://blackfin.uclinux.org/ We have tested this on LTP, and our test plan (including pass/fails) can be found at: http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=testing_the_linux_kernel [m.kozlowski@tuxland.pl: balance parenthesis in blackfin header files] Signed-off-by: Bryan Wu <bryan.wu@analog.com> Signed-off-by: Mariusz Kozlowski <m.kozlowski@tuxland.pl> Signed-off-by: Aubrey Li <aubrey.li@analog.com> Signed-off-by: Jie Zhang <jie.zhang@analog.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
