* Merge branch 'next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/virt/kvm/kvmLinus Torvalds2012-05-241-0/+1

Outside x86 we have a small s390 and a very large ppc update. Regarding the new (for kvm) rebaseless workflow, some of the patches that were merged before we switch trees had to be rebased, while others are true pulls. In either case the signoffs should be correct now." Fix up trivial conflicts in Documentation/feature-removal-schedule.txt arch/powerpc/kvm/book3s_segment.S and arch/x86/include/asm/kvm_para.h. I suspect the kvm_para.h resolution ends up doing the "do I have cpuid" check effectively twice (it was done differently in two different commits), but better safe than sorry ;) * 'next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/virt/kvm/kvm: (125 commits) KVM: make asm-generic/kvm_para.h have an ifdef __KERNEL__ block KVM: s390: onereg for timer related registers KVM: s390: epoch difference and TOD programmable field KVM: s390: KVM_GET/SET_ONEREG for s390 KVM: s390: add capability indicating COW support KVM: Fix mmu_reload() clash with nested vmx event injection KVM: MMU: Don't use RCU for lockless shadow walking KVM: VMX: Optimize %ds, %es reload KVM: VMX: Fix %ds/%es clobber KVM: x86 emulator: convert bsf/bsr instructions to emulate_2op_SrcV_nobyte() KVM: VMX: unlike vmcs on fail path KVM: PPC: Emulator: clean up SPR reads and writes KVM: PPC: Emulator: clean up instruction parsing kvm/powerpc: Add new ioctl to retreive server MMU infos kvm/book3s: Make kernel emulated H_PUT_TCE available for "PR" KVM KVM: PPC: bookehv: Fix r8/r13 storing in level exception handler KVM: PPC: Book3S: Enable IRQs during exit handling KVM: PPC: Fix PR KVM on POWER7 bare metal KVM: PPC: Fix stbux emulation KVM: PPC: bookehv: Use lwz/stw instead of PPC_LL/PPC_STL for 32-bit fields ...

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When a host stops or suspends a VM it will set a flag to show this. * | Merge branch 'x86-fpu-for-linus' of ↵Linus Torvalds2012-05-231-2/+0
|\ \ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip Pull fpu state cleanups from Ingo Molnar: "This tree streamlines further aspects of FPU handling by eliminating the prepare_to_copy() complication and moving that logic to arch_dup_task_struct(). It also fixes the FPU dumps in threaded core dumps, removes and old (and now invalid) assumption plus micro-optimizes the exit path by avoiding an FPU save for dead tasks." Fixed up trivial add-add conflict in arch/sh/kernel/process.c that came in because we now do the FPU handling in arch_dup_task_struct() rather than the legacy (and now gone) prepare_to_copy(). * 'x86-fpu-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip: x86, fpu: drop the fpu state during thread exit x86, xsave: remove thread_has_fpu() bug check in __sanitize_i387_state() coredump: ensure the fpu state is flushed for proper multi-threaded core dump fork: move the real prepare_to_copy() users to arch_dup_task_struct()

I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can and made sure that they don't break. The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2(). This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h. The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg. memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()). These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces: (1) asm/barrier.h Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha. (2) asm/switch_to.h Move switch_to() and related stuff here. (3) asm/exec.h Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h. (4) asm/cmpxchg.h Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg(). (5) asm/bug.h Move die() and related bits. (6) asm/auxvec.h Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here. Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis." Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat weakened by that. | * PCI: Pull PCI 'latency timer' setup up into the coreMyron Stowe2012-01-061-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The 'latency timer' of PCI devices, both Type 0 and Type 1, is setup in architecture-specific code [see: 'pcibios_set_master()']. There are two approaches being taken by all the architectures - check if the 'latency timer' is currently set between 16 and 255 and if not bring it within bounds, or, do nothing (and then there is the gratuitously different PA-RISC implementation). There is nothing architecture-specific about PCI's 'latency timer' so this patch pulls its setup functionality up into the PCI core by creating a generic 'pcibios_set_master()' function using the '__weak' attribute which can be used by all architectures as a default which, if necessary, can then be over-ridden by architecture-specific code.
