* arm: delete __cpuinit/__CPUINIT usage from all ARM usersPaul Gortmaker2013-07-141-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The __cpuinit type of throwaway sections might have made sense some time ago when RAM was more constrained, but now the savings do not offset the cost and complications. For example, the fix in commit 5e427ec2d0 ("x86: Fix bit corruption at CPU resume time") is a good example of the nasty type of bugs that can be created with improper use of the various __init prefixes. After a discussion on LKML[1] it was decided that cpuinit should go the way of devinit and be phased out. Once all the users are gone, we can then finally remove the macros themselves from linux/init.h. Note that some harmless section mismatch warnings may result, since notify_cpu_starting() and cpu_up() are arch independent (kernel/cpu.c) and are flagged as __cpuinit -- so if we remove the __cpuinit from the arch specific callers, we will also get section mismatch warnings. As an intermediate step, we intend to turn the linux/init.h cpuinit related content into no-ops as early as possible, since that will get rid of these warnings. In any case, they are temporary and harmless. This removes all the ARM uses of the __cpuinit macros from C code, and all __CPUINIT from assembly code. It also had two ".previous" section statements that were paired off against __CPUINIT (aka .section ".cpuinit.text") that also get removed here. * ARM: mm: fix numerous hideous errors in proc-arm740.SWill Deacon2013-03-261-12/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The setup code in proc-arm740.S is completely broken and, as far as I can tell, always has been. I was >this< close to ripping it out, when a 740t core-tile materialised in the office, so I've had a crack at fixing things up: - Fix the ram/flash area calculations so that we actually set the condition flags before testing them... - Fix the proc_info structure so that __cpu_io_mmu_flags are defined as 0, placing the __cpu_flush pointer at the correct offset - Re-number the registers used during __arm740_setup so that we don't clobber the machine ID et al - Advertise Thumb support via the hwcaps, since 740T is the only 740 implementation. * ARM: cache: remove ARMv3 support codeWill Deacon2013-03-261-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This is only used by 740t, which is a v4 core and (by my reading of the datasheet for the CPU) ignores CRm for the cp15 cache flush operation, making the v4 cache implementation in cache-v4.S sufficient for this CPU. Tested with 740T core-tile on Integrator/AP baseboard. Acked-by: Hyok S. Choi <hyok.choi@samsung.com> Acked-by: Greg Ungerer <gerg@uclinux.org> Signed-off-by: Will Deacon <will.deacon@arm.com>
* ARM: proc-*.S: place cpu_reset functions into .idmap.text sectionWill Deacon2011-12-061-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | The CPU reset functions disable the MMU and therefore must be executed with an identity mapping in place. This patch places the CPU reset functions into the .idmap.text section, causing the idmap code to include them as part of the identity mapping. * ARM: pm: add generic CPU suspend/resume supportRussell King2011-02-221-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | This adds core support for saving and restoring CPU coprocessor registers for suspend/resume support. This contains support for suspend with ARM920, ARM926, SA11x0, PXA25x, PXA27x, PXA3xx, V6 and V7 CPUs. Tested on Assabet and Tegra 2. * ARM: hotplug cpu: Keep processor information, startup code & ↵Russell King2010-10-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | __lookup_processor_type When hotplug CPU is enabled, we need to keep the list of supported CPUs, their setup functions, and __lookup_processor_type in place so that we can find and initialize secondary CPUs. Move these into the __CPUINIT section. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
* ARM: Factor out common code from cpu_proc_fin()Russell King2010-07-271-5/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | All implementations of cpu_proc_fin() start by disabling interrupts and then flush caches. Rather than have every processors proc_fin() implementation do this, move it out into generic code - and move the cache flush past setup_mm_for_reboot() (so it can benefit from having caches still enabled.) This allows cpu_proc_fin() to become independent of the L1/L2 cache types, and eventually move the L2 cache flushing into the L2 support code. * ARM: 5727/1: Pass IFSR register to do_PrefetchAbort()Kirill A. Shutemov2009-10-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instruction fault status register, IFSR, was introduced on ARMv6 to provide status information about the last insturction fault. It needed for proper prefetch abort handling. Now we have three prefetch abort model: * legacy - for CPUs before ARMv6. They doesn't provide neither IFSR nor IFAR. We simulate IFSR with section translation fault status for them to generalize code; * ARMv6 - provides IFSR, but not IFAR; * ARMv7 - provides both IFSR and IFAR. Signed-off-by: Kirill A. * [ARM] Don't include asm/elf.h in asm codeRussell King2008-10-011-1/+1

* [ARM] fix 48d7927bdf071d05cf5d15b816cf06b0937cb84fCatalin Marinas2008-04-241-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | The proc-*.S files have the _prefetch_abort pointer placed at the end of the processor structure but the cpu-multi32.h defines it in the second position. The patch also fixes the support for XSC3 and the MMU-less CPUs (740, 7tdmi, 940, 946 and 9tdmi). * [ARM] Include asm/elf.h instead of asm/procinfo.hRussell King2006-11-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | These files want to provide/access ELF hwcap information, so should be including asm/elf.h rather than asm/procinfo.h Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
