"For 3.19, the I2C subsystem has to offer special candy this time.
Right in time for Christmas :)
- I2C slave framework: finally, a generic mechanism for Linux being
an I2C slave (if the bus driver supports that). Docs are still
missing but will come later this cycle, the code is good enough to
go.
- I2C muxes represent their topology in sysfs much more detailed.
This will help users to navigate around much easier.
- irq population of i2c clients is now done at probe time, not device
creation time, to have better support for deferred probing.
- new drivers for Imagination SCB, Amlogic Meson
- DMA support added for Freescale IMX, Renesas SHMobile
- slightly bigger driver updates to OMAP, i801, AT91, and rk3x
(mostly quirk handling, timing updates, and using better kernel
interfaces)
- eeprom driver can now write with byte-access (very slow, but OK to
have)

"Two small patches from the audit next branch; only one of which has
any real significant code changes, the other is simply a MAINTAINERS
update for audit.
The single code patch is pretty small and rather straightforward, it
changes the audit "version" number reported to userspace from an
integer to a bitmap which is used to indicate the functionality of the
running kernel. This really doesn't have much impact on the kernel,
but it will make life easier for the audit userspace folks.
Thankfully we were still on a version number which allowed us to do
this without breaking userspace"

This patch adds the new userspace header for nl802154. We don't place
this header in include/uapi now. This header could be modified in the

The include/net/nl802154.h file contains a lot of prototypes which are
not used inside of ieee802154 subsystem. This patch removes this file
and make the only one used prototype "ieee802154_nl_start_confirm" as
static declaration in ieee802154/nl-mac.c

The goal of this is to provide a possibility to support various switch
chips. Drivers should implement relevant ndos to do so. Now there is
only one ndo defined:
- for getting physical switch id is in place.
Note that user can use random port netdevice to access the switch.

During the discussion about adding clock handling code to simplefb, it became
clear that simplefb currently does not have an active maintainer.
I've discussed this with Stephen Warren <swarren@wwwdotorg.org>, the original
author of simplefb, and with his permisson I'm picking up maintainership of
simplefb.

Pull media updates from Mauro Carvalho Chehab:
- Two new dvb frontend drivers: mn88472 and mn88473
- A new driver for some PCIe DVBSky cards
- A new remote controller driver: meson-ir
- One LIRC staging driver got rewritten and promoted to mainstream:

- A new tuner driver (m88rs6000t)
- The old omap2 media driver got removed from staging. This driver
uses an old DMA API and it is likely broken on recent kernels.
Nobody cared enough to fix it
- Media bus format moved to a separate header, as DRM will also use the
definitions there
- mem2mem_testdev were renamed to vim2m, in order to use the same
naming convention taken by the other virtual test driver (vivid)
- Added a new driver for coda SoC (coda-jpeg)
- The cx88 driver got converted to use videobuf2 core
- Make DMABUF export buffer to work with DMA Scatter/Gather and Vmalloc
cores
- Lots of other fixes, improvements and cleanups on the drivers.

Amlogic Meson SoCs include a infrared remote control receiver that can
operate in two modes: "NEC" mode in which the hardware decodes frames
using the NEC IR protocol, and "general" mode in which the receiver
simply reports the duration of pulses and spaces for software
decoding.
This is a driver for the IR receiver that implements software decoding
of received frames.
