Big change is new hot-replacement.
A slot in an array can hold 2 devices - one that
wants-replacement and one that is the replacement.
Once the replacement is built - either from the
original or (in the case of errors) from elsewhere,
the wants-replacement device will be removed.

hot-replace is a feature being added to md which will allow a
device to be replaced without removing it from the array first.
With hot-replace a spare can be activated and recovery can start while
the original device is still in place, thus allowing a transition from
an unreliable device to a reliable device without leaving the array
degraded during the transition. It can also be use when the original
device is still reliable but it not wanted for some reason.
This will eventually be supported in RAID4/5/6 and RAID10.
This patch adds a super-block flag to distinguish the replacement
device. If an old kernel sees this flag it will reject the device.
It also adds two per-device flags which are viewable and settable via
sysfs.
"want_replacement" can be set to request that a device be replaced.
"replacement" is set to show that this device is replacing another
device.
The "rd%d" links in /sys/block/mdXx/md only apply to the original
device, not the replacement. We currently don't make links for the
replacement - there doesn't seem to be a need.

'sampling_rate_max' was removed with commit ef598549 ("[...] Remove
deprecated sysfs file sampling_rate_max"), so its line can be dropped
from governors.txt. And 'show_sampling_rate_min' is a typo: the sysfs

Make the PM core execute driver PM callbacks directly if the
corresponding subsystem callbacks are not present.
There are three reasons for doing that. First, it reflects the
behavior of drivers/base/dd.c:really_probe() that runs the driver's
.probe() callback directly if the bus type's one is not defined, so
this change will remove one arbitrary difference between the PM core
and the remaining parts of the driver core. Second, it will allow
some subsystems, whose PM callbacks don't do anything except for
executing driver callbacks, to be simplified quite a bit by removing
those "forward-only" callbacks. Finally, it will allow us to remove
one level of indirection in the system suspend and resume code paths
where it is not necessary, which is going to lead to less debug noise
with initcall_debug passed in the kernel command line (messages won't
be printed for driverless devices whose subsystems don't provide
PM callbacks among other things).

There is no reason to export two functions for entering the
refrigerator. Calling refrigerator() instead of try_to_freeze()
doesn't save anything noticeable or removes any race condition.
* Rename refrigerator() to __refrigerator() and make it return bool
indicating whether it scheduled out for freezing.
* Update try_to_freeze() to return bool and relay the return value of
__refrigerator() if freezing().
* Convert all refrigerator() users to try_to_freeze().
* Update documentation accordingly.
* While at it, add might_sleep() to try_to_freeze().

Some drivers set PF_NOFREEZE in their kthread functions which is
completely unnecessary and racy - some part of freezer code doesn't
consider cases where PF_NOFREEZE is set asynchronous to freezer
operations.
In general, there's no reason to allow setting PF_NOFREEZE explicitly.
Remove them and change the documentation to note that setting
PF_NOFREEZE directly isn't allowed.

Based on recent discussions, we apparently want to do bindings even for
trivial i2c devices, even though they have for years just been added. So
start a table of the currently known ones for others to be added to
over time.
(I am intentionally letting lines go over 80 characters to make it easier
to sort the file).

This resolves the conflict in the arch/arm/mach-s3c64xx/s3c6400.c file,
and it fixes the build error in the arch/x86/kernel/microcode_core.c
file, that the merge did not catch.
The microcode_core.c patch was provided by Stephen Rothwell
<sfr@canb.auug.org.au> who was invaluable in the merge issues involved
with the large sysdev removal process in the driver-core tree.

Some debugfs file I deal with are mostly blocks of registers,
i.e. lines of the form "<name> = 0x<value>". Some files are only
registers, some include registers blocks among other material. This
patch introduces data structures and functions to deal with both
cases. I expect more users of this over time.

Almost every platform_driver does the three steps get_resource,
request_mem_region, ioremap. This does not only lead to a lot of code
duplication, but also a huge number of similar error strings and
inconsistent error codes on failure. So, introduce a helper function
which simplifies remapping a resource and make it hard to do something
wrong and add documentation for it.

In order to remove the build time variation between different SOCs with
regards to VMALLOC_END, the iotable mappings are now allocated inside
the vmalloc region. This allows for VMALLOC_END to be identical across
all machines.
The value for VMALLOC_END is now set to 0xff000000 which is right where
the consistent DMA area starts.
To accommodate all static mappings on machines with possible highmem usage,
the default vmalloc area size is changed to 240 MB so that VMALLOC_START
is no higher than 0xf0000000 by default.

This adds a device tree binding for the VIC based on the of_irq_init()
support. This adds an irqdomain to the vic and always registers all
vics in the static vic array rather than for pm only to keep track of
the irq domain. struct irq_data::hwirq is used where appropriate rather
than runtime masking.

The GIC support code is heavily using the fact that hardware
implementations are exposing banked registers. Unfortunately, it
looks like at least one GIC implementation (EXYNOS) offers both
the distributor and the CPU interfaces at different addresses,
depending on the CPU.
This problem is solved by allowing the distributor and CPU interface
addresses to be per-cpu variables for the platforms that require it.
The EXYNOS code is updated not to mess with the GIC internals while
handling interrupts, and struct gic_chip_data is back to being private.
The DT binding for the gic is updated to allow an optional "cpu-offset"
value, which is used to compute the various base addresses.
Finally, a new config option (GIC_NON_BANKED) is used to control this
feature, so the overhead is only present on kernels compiled with
support for EXYNOS.
Tested on Origen (EXYNOS4) and Panda (OMAP4).
