* ASoC: Add power supply widget to DAPMMark Brown2009-04-221-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Many modern CODECs have shared resources on chip which must be enabled for portions of the chip to work but which can be disabled at other times in order to achieve power savings. Examples of such resources include power supplies and some internal clocks. Since these widgets are dependencies for the audio path but do not carry audio signals they require slightly different handling to most widgets - they do not contribute to the audio path and so should not be counted as either inputs or outputs during path walks. Cases where one supply provides a supply for another will require additional work. There is also room for more optimisation of the graph walking to avoid repeated checks for the same thing. * ASoC: dapm: Allow explictly named mixer controlsIan Molton2009-01-071-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | This patch allows you to define the mixer paths as having the same name as the paths they represent. This is required to support codecs such as the wm9705 neatly without extra controls in the alsa mixer. Signed-off-by: Ian Molton <ian@mnementh.co.uk>

* ASoC: Rename snd_soc_card to snd_soc_machineMark Brown2008-11-211-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | One of the issues with the ASoC v1 API which has been addressed in the ASoC v2 work that Liam Girdwood has done is that the ALSA card provided by ASoC is distributed around the ASoC structures. For example, machine wide data such as the struct snd_card are maintained as part of the CODEC data structure, preventing the use of multiple codecs. This has been addressed by refactoring the data structures so that all the data for the ALSA card is contained in a single structure snd_soc_card which replaces the existing snd_soc_machine and snd_soc_device. Begin the process of backporting this by renaming struct snd_soc_machine to struct snd_soc_card, better reflecting its function and bringing it closer to standard ALSA terminology. * Documentation: fix the now deprecated reference to {set,reset}_scoop_gpioEric Miao2008-09-251-10/+2
| | | | | | | | | | Due to recent patches removing the now deprecated references to {set,reset}_scoop_gpio() and converting them to the generic GPIO API, the references in the documentation also need to be fixed. * [ALSA] ASoC documentation updatesMark Brown2008-01-318-93/+97
| | | | | | | | | | Update the ASoC documentation. Along with minor formatting and grammar cleanups it moves the ASoC overview into the present tense to reflect the fact that it has now been merged. * typo fixesMatt LaPlante2007-10-207-26/+27
| | | | | | | | | | | | Most of these fixes were already submitted for old kernel versions, and were approved, but for some reason they never made it into the releases. Because this is a consolidation of a couple old missed patches, it touches both Kconfigs and documentation texts. * [ALSA] ASoC documentation updatesLiam Girdwood2007-02-095-837/+48
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch updates the documentation for ASoC to reflect the recent changes in API between 0.12.x and 0.13.x Changes:- o Removed all reference to old API's. o Removed references and examples of automatic DAI config and matching. o Fixed 80 char line length on some files. * [ALSA] ASoC: Add support for BCLK based on (Rate * Chn * Word Size)Liam Girdwood2007-02-092-100/+271
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds support for the DAI BCLK to be generated by multiplying Rate * Channels * Word Size (RCW). This now gives 3 options for BCLK clocking and synchronisation :- 1. BCLK = Rate * x 2. BCLK = MCLK / x 3. BCLK = Rate * Chn * Word Size. (New) Changes:- o Add support for RCW generation of BCLK o Update Documentation to include RCW. o Update DAI documentation for label = value DAI modes. o Add RCW support to wm8731, wm8750 and pxa2xx-i2s drivers.
