* powerpc/booke: Add kprobes support for booke style processorsKumar Gala2008-06-261-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | This patch is based on work done by Madhvesh. R. Sulibhavi back in March 2007. We refactor some of the single step handling since it differs between "classic" and "booke" powerpc cores. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>

* Kprobes: move kprobe examples to samples/Ananth N Mavinakayanahalli2008-03-041-238/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move kprobes examples from Documentation/kprobes.txt to under samples/. Patch originally by Randy Dunlap. o Updated the patch to apply on 2.6.25-rc3 o Modified examples code to build on multiple architectures. Currently, the kprobe and jprobe examples code works for x86 and powerpc o Cleaned up unneeded #includes o Cleaned up Kconfig per Sam Ravnborg's suggestions to fix build break on archs that don't have kretprobes o Implemented suggestions by Mathieu Desnoyers on CONFIG_KRETPROBES o Included Andrew Morton's cleanup based on x86-git o Modified kretprobe_example to act as a arch-agnostic module to determine routine execution times: Use 'modprobe kretprobe_example func=<func_name>' to determine execution time of func_name in nanoseconds. * kprobes: kretprobe user entry-handlerAbhishek Sagar2008-02-061-12/+69
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Provide support to add an optional user defined callback to be run at function entry of a kretprobe'd function. Also modify the kprobe smoke tests to include an entry-handler during the kretprobe sanity test. * jprobes: remove JPROBE_ENTRY()Michael Ellerman2007-07-191-7/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | AFAICT now that jprobe.entry is a void *, JPROBE_ENTRY doesn't do anything useful - so remove it .. I've left a do-nothing version so that out-of-tree jprobes code will still compile without modifications. * Kprobes: The ON/OFF knob thru debugfsAnanth N Mavinakayanahalli2007-05-081-3/+31
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch provides a debugfs knob to turn kprobes on/off o A new file /debug/kprobes/enabled indicates if kprobes is enabled or not (default enabled) o Echoing 0 to this file will disarm all installed probes o Any new probe registration when disabled will register the probe but not arm it. A message will be printed out in such a case. o When a value 1 is echoed to the file, all probes (including ones registered in the intervening period) will be enabled o Unregistration will happen irrespective of whether probes are globally enabled or not. o Update Documentation/kprobes.txt to reflect these changes. While there also update the doc to make it current. We are also looking at providing sysrq key support to tie to the disabling feature provided by this patch.
