| * ARM: Orion: DT support for IRQ and GPIO ControllersAndrew Lunn2012-07-271-0/+23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Both IRQ and GPIO controllers can now be represented in DT. The IRQ controllers are setup first, and then the GPIO controllers. Interrupts for GPIO lines are placed directly after the main interrupts in the interrupt space. | * | MIPS: Octeon: Add device tree source files.David Daney2012-07-231-0/+49
| |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The two device tree files octeon_3xxx.dts and octeon_68xx.dts are trimmed by code in a subsequent patch to reflect the hardware actually present on the board. To this end several properties that are not part of the declared bindings are added to aid in trimming off unwanted nodes. Since the device tree and the code that trims it are bound into the kernel binary, these 'marker' properties never escape into the wild, and are purely an implementation detail of the kernel early boot process. This is done for backwards compatibility with existing boards (identified by a board type enumeration value by their bootloaders). New boards will always pass a device tree from the bootloader, the built-in trees are ignored in this case. The last change to the series was before the weekend the removal of an SPI patch which Grant - even though previously acked by himself - appeared to raise objections. So I removed it until the situation is clarified. Other than that all the patches have the acks from their respective maintainers, all MIPS and x86 defconfigs are building fine and I'm not aware of any problems introduced by this series. Among the key features for this patch series is a sizable patchset for Lantiq which among other things introduces support for Lantiq's flagship product, the FALCON SOC. It also means that the opensource developers behind this patchset have overtaken Lantiq's competing inhouse development team that was working behind closed doors. Less noteworthy the ath79 patchset which adds support for a few more chip variants, cleanups and fixes. Finally the usual dose of tweaking of generic code." | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Implements OF support and add code to load custom properties from the DT. The Serial To Parallel (STP) is found on MIPS based Lantiq socs. It is a peripheral controller used to drive external shift register cascades. At most 3 groups of 8 bits can be driven. The hardware is able to allow the DSL modem to drive the 2 LSBs of the cascade automatically. Newer socs are also able to automatically drive some pins via the internal PHYs. The driver currently only supports output functionality. Patches for the input feature found on newer generations of the soc will be provided in a later series. To my suprissed it is not the same as on PXA. The interrupt & gpio chip can be referenced from the device tree like from any other driver. Unfortunately the driver which uses the gpio interrupt has to use irq_of_parse_and_map() instead of platform_get_irq(). The problem is that the platform device (which is created from the device tree) is most likely created before the interrupt chip is registered and therefore irq_of_parse_and_map() fails. In theory the driver works as module. In reality most of the irq functions are not exported to modules and it is possible that _this_ module is unloaded while the provided irqs are still in use. The use of an IRQ domain ensures that any device tree node interrupts properties are correctly parsed. Describe interrupt-related properties in the device tree binding docs, and the contents of "child" node interrupts property. Update tegra*.dtsi to specify the required interrupt-related properties. Finally, remove the definition of TEGRA_GPIO_TO_IRQ; this macro no longer gives correct results since the IRQ numbers for GPIOs are dynamically allocated.
