* [media] DocBook: media: update codec section, drop obsolete 'suspended' stateHans Verkuil2013-05-211-13/+22
| | | | | | | | | | | The Codec section in the V4L2 specification was marked as 'suspended', even though codec support has been around for quite some time. Update this section, explaining a bit about memory-to-memory devices and pointing to the MPEG controls section. * [media] v4l2: drop V4L2_CHIP_MATCH_SUBDEV_NAMEHans Verkuil2013-04-143-37/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | After using the new VIDIOC_DBG_G_CHIP_NAME ioctl I realized that the matching by name possibility is useless. Just drop it and rename MATCH_SUBDEV_IDX to just MATCH_SUBDEV. The v4l2-dbg utility is much better placed to match by name by just enumerating all bridge and subdev devices until chip_name.name matches. * [media] v4l2: put VIDIOC_DBG_G_CHIP_NAME under ADV_DEBUGHans Verkuil2013-04-141-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | Only enable this ioctl if the VIDEO_ADV_DEBUG config option is set. This prevents abuse from both userspace and kernelspace (some bridge drivers abuse DBG_G_CHIP_IDENT, lets prevent that from happening again with this ioctl). * [media] v4l2-ctrl: Add helper function for the controls range updateSylwester Nawrocki2013-02-053-1/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds a helper function that allows to modify range, i.e. minimum, maximum, step and default value of a v4l2 control, after the control has been created and initialized. This is helpful in situations when range of a control depends on user configurable parameters, e.g. camera sensor absolute exposure time depending on an output image resolution and frame rate. v4l2_ctrl_modify_range() function allows to modify range of an INTEGER, BOOL, MENU, INTEGER_MENU and BITMASK type controls.
