This is a first step in allowing people to by-pass udev for loading
device firmware. Current versions of udev will deadlock (causing us to
block for the 30 second timeout) under some circumstances if the
firmware is loaded as part of the module initialization path, and this
is causing problems for media drivers in particular.
The current patch hardcodes the firmware path that udev uses by default,
and will fall back to the legacy udev mode if the firmware cannot be
found there. We'd like to add support for both configuring the paths
and the fallback behaviour, but in the meantime this hopefully fixes the
immediate problem, while also giving us a way forward.

Follow up on commit c285f6ff6787 "firewire: remove global lock around
address handlers, convert to RCU":
- address_handler_lock no longer serializes the address handler, only
its function to serialize updates to the list of handlers remains.
Rename the lock to address_handler_list_lock.
- Callers of fw_core_remove_address_handler() must be able to sleep.
Comment on this in the API documentation.
- The counterpart fw_core_add_address_handler() is by nature something
which is used in process context. Replace spin_lock_bh() by
spin_lock() in fw_core_add_address_handler() and in
fw_core_remove_address_handler(), and document that process context
is now required for fw_core_add_address_handler().
- Extend the documentation of fw_address_callback_t.

Upper-layer handlers for inbound requests were called with a spinlock
held by firewire-core. Calling into upper layers with a lower layer
lock held is generally a bad idea.
What's more, since commit ea102d0ec475 "firewire: core: convert AR-req
handler lock from _irqsave to _bh", a caller of fw_send_request() i.e.
initiator of outbound request could no longer do that while having
interrupts disabled, if the local node was addressed by that request.
In order to make all this more flexible, convert the management of
address ranges and handlers from a global lock around readers and
writers to RCU (and a remaining global lock for writers). As a minor
side effect, handling of inbound requests at different cards and of
local requests is now no longer serialized. (There is still per-card
serialization of remote requests since firewire-ohci uses a single DMA
tasklet for inbound request events.)
In other words, address handlers are now called in an RCU read-side
critical section instead of from within a spin_lock_bh serialized
section.

Pull preparatory patches for user API disintegration from David Howells:
"The patches herein prepare for the extraction of the Userspace API
bits from the various header files named in the Kbuild files.
New subdirectories are created under either include/uapi/ or
arch/x/include/uapi/ that correspond to the subdirectory containing
that file under include/ or arch/x/include/.
The new subdirs under the uapi/ directory are populated with Kbuild
files that mostly do nothing at this time. Further patches will
disintegrate the headers in each original directory and fill in the
Kbuild files as they do it.
These patches also:
(1) fix up #inclusions of "foo.h" rather than <foo.h>.
(2) Remove some redundant #includes from the DRM code.
(3) Make the kernel build infrastructure handle Kbuild files both in
the old places and the new UAPI place that both specify headers
to be exported.
(4) Fix some kernel tools that #include kernel headers during their
build.
I have compile tested this with allyesconfig against x86_64,
allmodconfig against i386 and a scattering of additional defconfigs of
other arches. Prepared for main script

Plumb the UAPI Kbuilds into the user header installation and checking system.
As the headers are split the entries will be transferred across from the old
Kbuild files to the UAPI Kbuild files.
The changes made in this commit are:
(1) Exported generated files (of which there are currently four) are moved to
uapi/ directories under the appropriate generated/ directory, thus we
get:
include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h
arch/x86/include/generated/uapi/asm/unistd_32.h
arch/x86/include/generated/uapi/asm/unistd_64.h
arch/x86/include/generated/uapi/asm/unistd_x32.h
These paths were added to the build as -I flags in a previous patch.
(2) scripts/Makefile.headersinst is now given the UAPI path to install from
rather than the old path.
It then determines the old path from that and includes that Kbuild also
if it exists, thus permitting the headers to exist in either directory
during the changeover.
I also renamed the "install" variable to "installdir" as it refers to a
directory not the install program.
(3) scripts/headers_install.pl is altered to take a list of source file paths
instead of just their names so that the makefile can tell it exactly
where to find each file.
For the moment, files can be obtained from one of four places for each
output directory:
.../include/uapi/foo/
.../include/generated/uapi/foo/
.../include/foo/
.../include/generated/foo/
The non-UAPI paths will be dropped later.

Differentiate the generated UAPI and internal headers during generation such
that the UAPI headers can be installed elsewhere.
A later patch will use this to move the UAPI headers to:
arch/x86/include/generated/uapi/asm/
to make them easier to handle.
A previous patch added a -I for this path.

Set up uapi/asm/Kbuild.asm. This requires the mandatory headers to be
dynamically detected. The same goes for include/asm/Kbuild.asm. The problem
is that the header files will be split or moved one at a time, but each header
file in Kbuild.asm's list applies to all arch headers of that name
simultaneously.
The dynamic detection of mandatory files can be undone later.

Fix a build failure in the x86 insn_sanity program after the UAPI split. The
problem is that insn_sanity.c #includes arch/x86/lib/insn.c - which uses the
kernel string header. This leads to conflicts for various definitions against
the /usr/include/ headers.
linux/string.h can be replaced with the normal userspace string.h if __KERNEL__
is not specified.

Partition the header include path flags into two sets, one for kernelspace
builds and one for userspace builds.
Add the following directories to build after the ordinary include directories
so that #include will pick up the UAPI header directly if the kernel header
has been moved there.
The userspace set (represented by the USERINCLUDE make variable) contains:
-I $(srctree)/arch/$(hdr-arch)/include/uapi
-I arch/$(hdr-arch)/include/generated/uapi
-I $(srctree)/include/uapi
-I include/generated/uapi
-include $(srctree)/include/linux/kconfig.h
and the kernelspace set (represented by the LINUXINCLUDE make variable)
contains:
-I $(srctree)/arch/$(hdr-arch)/include
-I arch/$(hdr-arch)/include/generated
-I $(srctree)/include
-I include --- if not building in the source tree
plus everything in the USERINCLUDE set.
Then use USERINCLUDE in building the x86 boot code.

Remove redundant DRM UAPI header #inclusions from drivers/gpu/.
Remove redundant #inclusions of core DRM UAPI headers (drm.h, drm_mode.h and
drm_sarea.h). They are now #included via drmP.h and drm_crtc.h via a preceding
patch.
Without this patch and the patch to make include the UAPI headers from the core
headers, after the UAPI split, the DRM C sources cannot find these UAPI headers
because the DRM code relies on specific -I flags to make #include "..." work
on headers in include/drm/ - but that does not work after the UAPI split without
adding more -I flags.

Only refer to the DRM UAPI headers (drm.h, drm_mode.h and drm_sarea.h) from
within drmP.h and drm_crtc.h, and use #include <...> to refer to them so that
when the UAPI split happens they can still be accessed.

In order to use a device as interrupt controller, it needs to be marked
with the DT interrupt-controller property. This commit adds rudimentary
documentation about the required standard properties and describes the
most commonly used interrupt specifiers.

This patch introduces of_get_child_by_name function to get a child node
by its name in a given parent node.
Without this patch each driver code has to iterate the parent and do
a string compare, However having of_get_child_by_name libary function would
avoid code duplication, errors and is more convenient.

Add support for specifying a generic "wakeup-source" property on i2c
clients, which will set the I2C_CLIENT_WAKE flag, thus configuring the
device to wake the system from suspend (via IRQ).
This obviously doesn't make sense on devices lacking IRQ, but since we
still allow that in the i2c_board_info case, I don't see a reason to
restrict it here.
Note: Since the generic i2c bindings aren't documented in the kernel,
I didn't find a good place to add documentation for this binding
extension. I still think it makes sense to have a generic property
instead of having each device do its own binding for the same.

When a bus specifies #address-cells > 2, of_bus_default_map() now
assumes that the mapping isn't for a physical address but rather an
identifier that needs to match exactly.
This is required by bindings that use multiple cells to translate a
resource to the parent bus (device index, type, ...).

It's quite legitimate for a DT node to specify #size-cells=0. One example
is a node that's used to collect a number of non-memory-mapped devices.
In that scenario, there may be multiple child nodes with the same name
(type) thus necessitating the use of unit addresses in node names, and
reg properties:

However, #size-cells=0 prevents translation of reg property values into
the parent node's address space. In turn, this triggers the kernel to
emit error messages during boot, such as:
prom_parse: Bad cell count for /regulators/regulator@0
To prevent printing these error messages for legitimate DT content, a
number of changes are made:
1) of_get_address()/of_get_pci_address() are modified only to validate
the value of #address-cells, and not #size-cells.
2) of_can_translate_address() is added to indicate whether address
translation is possible.
3) of_device_make_bus_id() is modified to name devices based on the
translated address only where possible, and otherwise fall back to
using the (first cell of the) raw untranslated address.
4) of_device_alloc() is modified to create memory resources for a device
only if the address can be translated into the CPU's address space.

This patch adds support for the two linux interfaces of the discard/TRIM
command for SSD devices and sparse/thinly-provisioned LUNs.
JFS will support batched discard via FITRIM ioctl and online discard
with the discard mount option.

There's no caller of pcibios_assign_resources() in the tree. It is
exported, so an out-of-tree module *could* call it, but no other arch
exports pcibios_assign_resources(), so it would have to be a CRIS-specific
module. I doubt such a caller exists.

prom_printf() takes printf style arguments. Specifing GCC's format
attribute reveals that there are several wrong usages of prom_printf().
This fixes those wrong format strings and arguments, and also leaves
format attributes in order to detect similar mistakes at compile time.

It gets clobbered by the kernel's VISEntryHalf, so we have to save it
in a different register than the set clobbered by that macro.
The instance in glibc is OK and doesn't have this problem.

When we do an FLR, or D0->D3_hot we may lose the BARs as the
device has turned itself off (and on). This means the device cannot
function unless the pci_restore_state is called - which it is
when the PCI device is unbound from the Xen PCI backend driver.
For PV guests it ends up calling pci_enable_device / pci_enable_msi[x]
which does the proper steps
That however is not happening if a HVM guest is run as QEMU
deals with PCI configuration space. QEMU also requires that the
device be "parked" under the ownership of a pci-stub driver to
guarantee that the PCI device is not being used. Hence we
follow the same incantation as pci_reset_function does - by
doing an FLR, then restoring the PCI configuration space.
The result of this patch is that when you run lspci, you get
now this:
- Region 0: [virtual] Memory at fe8c0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128K]
- Region 1: [virtual] Memory at fe800000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512K]
+ Region 0: Memory at fe8c0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128K]
+ Region 1: Memory at fe800000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512K]
Region 2: I/O ports at c000 [size=32]
- Region 3: [virtual] Memory at fe8e0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
+ Region 3: Memory at fe8e0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
The [virtual] means that lspci read those entries from SysFS but when
it read them from the device it got a different value (0xfffffff).
