* target-alpha: Move alarm to vm_clockRichard Henderson2013-07-183-6/+16
| | | | | | | | | | Basing the alarm off the rtc_clock was silly. It leads to horrible spinning in the guest after being suspended and resumed, as it tries to catch up with lost ticks. This requires adding an accessor for reading the vm_clock too. Signed-off-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net>
* target-alpha: Change gen_intermediate_code_internal() argument to AlphaCPUAndreas Färber2013-07-091-4/+5
| | | | | | | | | Also use bool argument while at it. Prepares for moving singlestep_enabled field to CPUState. Reviewed-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* cpu: Drop unnecessary dynamic casts in *_env_get_cpu()Andreas Färber2013-07-091-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A transition from CPUFooState to FooCPU can be considered safe, just like FooCPU::env access in the opposite direction. The only benefit of the FOO_CPU() casts would be protection against bogus CPUFooState pointers, but then surrounding code would likely break, too. This should slightly improve interrupt etc. performance when going from CPUFooState to FooCPU. For any additional CPU() casts see 3556c233d931ad5ffa46a35cb25cfc057732ebb8 (qom: allow turning cast debugging off). Reported-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com> Acked-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* linux-user: Move cpu_clone_regs() and cpu_set_tls() into linux-userPeter Maydell2013-07-091-16/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The functions cpu_clone_regs() and cpu_set_tls() are not purely CPU related -- they are specific to the TLS ABI for a a particular OS. Move them into the linux-user/ tree where they belong. target-lm32 had entirely unused implementations, since it has no linux-user target; just drop them. Signed-off-by: Peter Maydell <peter.maydell@linaro.org> Acked-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* cpu: Turn cpu_unassigned_access() into a CPUState hookAndreas Färber2013-06-283-6/+11
| | | | | | | Use it for all targets, but be careful not to pass invalid CPUState. cpu_single_env can be NULL, e.g. on Xen. Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* cpu: Change qemu_init_vcpu() argument to CPUStateAndreas Färber2013-06-281-3/+0
| | | | | | | | This allows to move the call into CPUState's realizefn. Therefore move the stub into libqemustub.a. Reviewed-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* cpu: Turn cpu_dump_{state,statistics}() into CPUState hooksAndreas Färber2013-06-283-2/+7
| | | | | | | | | Make cpustats monitor command available unconditionally. Prepares for changing kvm_handle_internal_error() and kvm_cpu_exec() arguments to CPUState. Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* target-alpha: Register VMStateDescription for AlphaCPUAndreas Färber2013-06-283-12/+22
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit b758aca1f6cdb175634812b79f5560c36c902d00 (target-alpha: Enable the alpha-softmmu target.) introduced cpu_{save,load}() functions but didn't define CPU_SAVE_VERSION, so they were never registered. Drop cpu_{save,load}() and register the VMStateDescription via DeviceClass. This operates on the AlphaCPU object instead of CPUAlphaState. Reviewed-by: Juan Quintela <quintela@redhat.com> Acked-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* cpu: Replace do_interrupt() by CPUClass::do_interrupt methodAndreas Färber2013-03-124-2/+6
| | | | | | | | | | This removes a global per-target function and thus takes us one step closer to compiling multiple targets into one executable. It will also allow to override the interrupt handling for certain CPU families. Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* cpu: Move halted and interrupt_request fields to CPUStateAndreas Färber2013-03-122-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | Both fields are used in VMState, thus need to be moved together. Explicitly zero them on reset since they were located before breakpoints. Pass PowerPCCPU to kvmppc_handle_halt(). Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* gen-icount.h: Rename gen_icount_start/end to gen_tb_start/endPeter Maydell2013-03-031-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | The gen_icount_start/end functions are now somewhat misnamed since they are useful for generic "start/end of TB" code, used for more than just icount. Rename them to gen_tb_start/end. Signed-off-by: Peter Maydell <peter.maydell@linaro.org> Reviewed-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> Signed-off-by: Blue Swirl <blauwirbel@gmail.com>
* cpu: Introduce ENV_OFFSET macrosAndreas Färber2013-03-031-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce ENV_OFFSET macros which can be used in non-target-specific code that needs to generate TCG instructions which reference CPUState fields given the cpu_env register that TCG targets set up with a pointer to the CPUArchState struct. * cpu: Add CPUArchState pointer to CPUStateAndreas Färber2013-02-161-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | The target-specific ENV_GET_CPU() macros have allowed us to navigate from CPUArchState to CPUState. The reverse direction was not supported. Avoid introducing CPU_GET_ENV() macros by initializing an untyped pointer that is initialized in derived instance_init functions. The field may not be called "env" due to it being poisoned. Acked-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* target-alpha: Update AlphaCPU to QOM realizefnAndreas Färber2013-02-162-4/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | Update the alpha_cpu_realize() signature and hook up to DeviceClass::realize. Set realized = true in cpu_alpha_init(). qapi/error.h is included through qdev now and no longer needed. Acked-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> [AF: Invoke parent's realizefn] Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* target-alpha: Catch attempt to instantiate abstract type in cpu_init()Andreas Färber2013-01-271-2/+6

* target-alpha: Detect attempt to instantiate non-CPU type in cpu_init()Andreas Färber2013-01-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | Check in alpha_cpu_class_by_name() whether the type found is actually (a sub-type of) TYPE_ALPHA_CPU. This fixes, e.g., -cpu typhoon-pcihost asserting. Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* cpu: Add model resolution support to CPUClassAndreas Färber2013-01-271-0/+8
| | | | | | | | | Introduce CPUClass::class_by_name and add a default implementation. Hook up the alpha and ppc implementations. Introduce a wrapper function cpu_class_by_name(). Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* cpu: Move cpu_index field to CPUStateAndreas Färber2013-01-151-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Note that target-alpha accesses this field from TCG, now using a negative offset. Therefore the field is placed last in CPUState. Pass PowerPCCPU to [kvm]ppc_fixup_cpu() to facilitate this change. Move common parts of mips cpu_state_reset() to mips_cpu_reset(). Acked-by: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> (for alpha) [AF: Rebased onto ppc CPU subclasses and openpic changes] Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* qemu-common.h: Make qemu_init_vcpu() stub static inlineAndreas Färber2013-01-081-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Turn the *-user macro into a no-op inline function to avoid unused-variable warnings and band-aiding #ifdef'ery. This allows to drop an #ifdef for alpha and avoids more for unicore32 and other upcoming trivial realizefn implementations.
