* isa: Split off instance_init for ISADeviceAndreas Färber2013-02-181-3/+9
| | | | | | | | | Prepares for assigning IRQs before QOM realize. Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de> Message-id: 1361010446-1427-1-git-send-email-afaerber@suse.de Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
* Make all static TypeInfos constAndreas Färber2013-01-101-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since 39bffca2030950ef6efe57c2fac8327a45ae1015 (qdev: register all types natively through QEMU Object Model), TypeInfo as used in the common, non-iterative pattern is no longer amended with information and should therefore be const. Fix the documented QOM examples: sed -i 's/static TypeInfo/static const TypeInfo/g' include/qom/object.h Since frequently the wrong examples are being copied by contributors of new devices, fix all types in the tree: sed -i 's/^static TypeInfo/static const TypeInfo/g' */*.c sed -i 's/^static TypeInfo/static const TypeInfo/g' */*/*.c This also avoids to piggy-back these changes onto real functional changes or other refactorings. * isa: Add isa_address_space_io()Julien Grall2012-12-041-0/+9
| | | | | | | | | This function permits to retrieve ISA IO address space. It will be usefull when we need to pass IO address space as argument. Signed-off-by: Julien Grall <julien.grall@citrix.com> Acked-by: Avi Kivity <avi@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
* Rename target_phys_addr_t to hwaddrAvi Kivity2012-10-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | target_phys_addr_t is unwieldly, violates the C standard (_t suffixes are reserved) and its purpose doesn't match the name (most target_phys_addr_t addresses are not target specific). Replace it with a finger-friendly, standards conformant hwaddr. Outstanding patchsets can be fixed up with the command git rebase -i --exec 'find -name "*.[ch]" | xargs s/target_phys_addr_t/hwaddr/g' origin Signed-off-by: Avi Kivity <avi@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
* isa: add a isa_vga_init() functionAurelien Jarno2012-10-061-0/+20
| | | | | | | This function create a ISA VGA device according to the value of vga_interface_type. It returns a ISADevice (and not a DeviceState). Signed-off-by: Aurelien Jarno <aurelien@aurel32.net>
* scsi, pci, qdev, isa-bus, sysbus: don't let *_get_fw_dev_path return NULLJim Meyering2012-10-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Use g_strdup rather than strdup, because the sole caller (qdev_get_fw_dev_path_helper) assumes it gets non-NULL, and dereferences it. Besides, in that caller, the allocated buffer is already freed with g_free, so it's better to allocate with a matching g_strdup. In one case, (scsi-bus.c) it was trivial, so I replaced an snprintf+ g_strdup combination with an equivalent g_strdup_printf use. * qdev: Convert busses to QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori2012-06-181-7/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is far less interesting than it sounds. We simply add an Object to each BusState and then register the types appropriately. Most of the interesting refactoring will follow in the next patches. Since we're changing fundamental type names (BusInfo -> BusClass), it all needs to convert at once. Fortunately, not a lot of code is affected. * qom: Unify type registrationAndreas Färber2012-02-151-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Replace device_init() with generalized type_init(). While at it, unify naming convention: type_init([$prefix_]register_types) Also, type_init() is a function, so add preceding blank line where necessary and don't put a semicolon after the closing brace. * qdev: kill off DeviceInfoAnthony Liguori2012-02-031-1/+1

* qdev: register all types natively through QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori2012-02-031-19/+17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This was done in a mostly automated fashion. I did it in three steps and then rebased it into a single step which avoids repeatedly touching every file in the tree. The first step was a sed-based addition of the parent type to the subclass registration functions. The second step was another sed-based removal of subclass registration functions while also adding virtual functions from the base class into a class_init function as appropriate. Finally, a python script was used to convert the DeviceInfo structures and qdev_register_subclass functions to TypeInfo structures, class_init functions, and type_register_static calls. We are almost fully converted to QOM after this commit. Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
* sysbus: apic: ioapic: convert to QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori2012-01-271-6/+13
| | | | | | | This converts three devices because apic and ioapic are subclasses of sysbus. Converting subclasses independently of their base class is prohibitively hard. Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
* isa: pic: convert to QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori2012-01-271-10/+28

* isa-bus: Remove bogus IRQ sharing checkJan Kiszka2011-02-211-13/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | Nothing prevented IRQ sharing on the ISA bus in principle. Not all boards supported this, neither each and every card nor driver and OS. Still, there existed valid IRQ sharing scenarios, (at least) two of them can also be found in QEMU: >2 PC UARTs and the PREP IDE buses. So remove this artificial restriction from our ISA model. * Make isa_create() terminate program on failureMarkus Armbruster2009-10-071-5/+3

* New qdev_init_nofail()Markus Armbruster2009-10-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Like qdev_init(), but terminate program via hw_error() instead of returning an error value. Use it instead of qdev_init() where terminating the program on failure is okay, either because it's during machine construction, or because we know that failure can't happen. Because relying in the latter is somewhat unclean, and the former is not always obvious, it would be nice to go back to qdev_init() in the not-so-obvious cases, only with proper error handling. I'm leaving that for another day, because it involves making sure that error values are properly checked by all callers. * Make qdev_init() destroy the device on failureMarkus Armbruster2009-10-071-1/+0

* qdev: add isa_create() functionGerd Hoffmann2009-09-101-2/+13
| | | | | | | Like isa_create_simple, but doesn't call qdev_init, so one can set properties after creating and before initializing the device. Signed-off-by: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel@redhat.com>
* qdev: tag isabus-bridge as no-userGerd Hoffmann2009-09-101-0/+1

* qdev: simplify isa irq assignmentsGerd Hoffmann2009-09-101-27/+11
| | | | | | | | | isa-bus owns the isa irqs now, so it can hand them out directly. There is no need for the separate isa_connect_irqs step, drop it. Also hard-code isa interrupts which can't be configured anyway. Signed-off-by: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel@redhat.com>
* qdev: drop iobase properties from isa busGerd Hoffmann2009-09-101-9/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Lot of ISA devices work at fixed addresses, so having iobase as bus property doesn't make much sense. Devices which can have different iobases will get a device property. Also simply hard-code stuff which can't be configured anyway. Signed-off-by: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel@redhat.com>

* qdev: add return value to init() callbacks.Gerd Hoffmann2009-08-271-3/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Sorry folks, but it has to be. One more of these invasive qdev patches. We have a serious design bug in the qdev interface: device init callbacks can't signal failure because the init() callback has no return value. This patch fixes it. We have already one case in-tree where this is needed: Try -device virtio-blk-pci (without drive= specified) and watch qemu segfault. This patch fixes it. With usb+scsi being converted to qdev we'll get more devices where the init callback can fail for various reasons. * Move isa_connect_irq calls into isa_create_simpleGerd Hoffmann2009-08-271-1/+6
| | | | | | | | Now with isa-bus maintaining the isa irqs we can move the isa_connect_irq() calls into isa_create_simple(). Signed-off-by: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
* Add isa_reserve_irq().Jes Sorensen2009-08-271-0/+21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce isa_reserve_irq() which marks an irq reserved and returns the appropriate qemu_irq entry from the i8259 table. isa_reserve_irq() is a temporary interface to be used to allocate ISA IRQs for devices which have not yet been converted to qdev, and for special cases which are not suited for qdev conversions, such as the 'ferr'. This patch goes on top of Gerd Hoffmann's which makes isa-bus.c own the ISA irq table. * isa bus irq changes and fixes.Gerd Hoffmann2009-08-271-7/+63
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Changes: (1) make isa-bus maintain isa irqs, complain when allocating already taken irqs. (2) note that (1) works only for isa devices converted to qdev already (floppy and ps2/kbd/mouse right now), so more work is needed to make this really useful. (3) split floppy init into isa and sysbus versions. (4) add sysbus->isa bridge & fix -M isapc breakage.
