* gdb: Add missing runtime dependency for python optionAndreas Oberritter2015-07-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With python enabled, gdb refuses to start without core python modules: | Could not find platform independent libraries <prefix> | Could not find platform dependent libraries <exec_prefix> | Consider setting $PYTHONHOME to <prefix>[:<exec_prefix>] | ImportError: No module named site It also complains if python-codecs is missing. * gdb: add whitespace to _appendRoss Burton2015-03-101-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Add leading whitepace to EXTRA_OECONF_append so it doesn't rely on the original value ending with trailing whitespace. Spotted by Robert P. J. Day. * recipes: Delete superfluous assignments, S = ${WORKDIR}/${BP}Robert P. J. Day2015-02-241-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Given that bitbake.conf sets the default values: BP = "${BPN}-${PV}" S = "${WORKDIR}/${BP}" there are a number of recipes that set the variable S completely superfluously, so get rid of them. * arch-mips.inc: Change definition of TRANSLATED_TARGET_ARCHMark Hatle2015-01-291-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [YOCTO #7230] In certain system configurations TRANSLATED_TARGET_ARCH will not expand in the right order for gcc-cross-candian-mips64n32 to be generated properly. This will cause SDKs to fail to generate properly. Changing the global definition of TRANSLATED_TARGET_ARCH always expands the ABIEXTENSION, which causes the OVERRIDES to pick it up as well. This effectively defines a new class of overrides for the 'n32'. The side effect is that we need to duplicate some mips64 overrides, and redefine others that were previously 'n32' or 'mips64' exclusive to have the correct semantics. * gdb: disable GuileRoss Burton2014-12-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | GDB 7.8 added Guile support, and it will auto-detect if Guile is present (which is non-deterministic, so bad), and if it's present will fail to find the guild binary as it doesn't consider the sysroot. For now disable Guile support in GDB, if there is a need to have it enabled in the future then GDB/Guile can be fixed. * gdb: 7.7.1 -> 7.8.1Richard Purdie2014-11-097-61/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Drop patch merged upstream. Also drop old arm/thumb patch which breaks the compile on arm. We've had this since 2010 (or longer) and the issue has likely been fixed upstream by now. If not someone with more knowledge will need to figure out the fix against the current codebase. * gdb: add PACKAGECONFIG for babeltraceChen Qi2014-05-131-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add PACKAGECONFIG for 'babeltrace' so that we don't have the implicit dependency which might lead to problems when building images. As an example of showing what problem we might have without this patch, see the following steps which would lead to a failure. 1. IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " gdb" 2. bitbake babeltrace 3. bitbake gdb 4. bitbake babeltrace -ccleansstate 5. bitbake core-image-minimal The rootfs process would fail with the following error message. error: Can't install gdb-7.7-r0@i586: no package provides babeltrace >= 1.2.1+git0+66c2a20b43 (From OE-Core rev: 3c34d9391136b09bc2e7b0bda6cdc96507845c4b) Signed-off-by: Chen Qi <Qi.Chen@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
* Add texinfo.bbclass; recipes that use texinfo utils at build-time inherit it.Max Eliaser2014-05-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The class itself currently does nothing. The idea is to mark all recipes that make use of the texinfo utilities. In the future, this class could be used to suppress the generation/formatting of documentation for performance, explicitly track dependencies on these utilities, and eliminate Yocto's current dependency on the host system's texinfo utilities. * Replace one-line DESCRIPTION with SUMMARYPaul Eggleton2014-01-022-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | A lot of our recipes had short one-line DESCRIPTION values and no SUMMARY value set. In this case it's much better to just set SUMMARY since DESCRIPTION is defaulted from SUMMARY anyway and then the SUMMARY is at least useful. I also took the opportunity to fix up a lot of the new SUMMARY values, making them concisely explain the function of the recipe / package where possible. * gdb: Disable hard-coding of library rpathsPhil Blundell2013-04-291-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | GDB's configury has a tendency to hard-code the path where it found libexpat using "-Wl,--rpath". This is undesirable and leads to QA warnings. Fortunately, the helpful GDB maintainers have provided a "--disable-rpath" switch to turn this behaviour off. Let's use it and profit. * gdb-cross: Adjust ${datadir} to avoid file conflicts in sysrootPhil Blundell2013-04-291-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | GDB wants to install a bunch of files in ${datadir}/gdb/python/gdb and ${datadir}/gdb/syscalls. These pathnames are invariant with TARGET_ARCH which means that if you build gdb multiple times for different targets they will all try to write to the same location and you get a lot of warning spew about manifest conflicts. Prevent this by factoring the target specification into ${datadir} so that different copies of GDB install their files into different paths. * nativesdk: Switch to using nativesdk as a prefix, not a suffixRichard Purdie2012-09-021-3/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As discussed on the mailing lists, using a suffix to package names is hard and has lead to many recipes having to do PKGSUFFIX games. Its looking extremely hard to scale nativesdk much further without hacking many recipes. By comparison, using a prefix like multilib does works much better and doesn't involve "hacking" as many recipes. This change converts nativesdk to use a prefix using the existing multilib infrastructure. * gdb-cross-canadian: Fix linking issues when python support is enabledKhem Raj2012-03-232-4/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | gdb-cross-canadian was linking with static version of libpython and looking for build host python when run. This could be mismatch between python-nativesdk and build host provided python. So we make it consistent to always use python-nativesdk Instead of adding bunch of -L we add -rpath and -rpath-link so that gdb finds all needed libraries in SDK and does not reach out into host This should fix yocto PR# 2077 as well. * gdb-cross-canadian: build gdb with python supportEric BENARD2012-02-262-2/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * python support is needed for providing finer scripting control in gdb, and for remote controling gdb for example from qtcreator * gdb/configure tries to autodetect python using python executable with --includes --ldflags --exec-prefix to get the right flags As it's difficult to achieve in OE's context, we generate a script which will return the right values and make gdb's build system happy. This idea was taken from the following article : http://www.mentby.com/doug-evans-2/python-enabled-gdb-on-windows-and-relocation.html * tested using angstrom & armv7 target & qtcreator 201005 & 2.4.0 * MJ: updated paths to python as disscussed here http://lists.linuxtogo.org/pipermail/openembedded-core/2012-February/018222.html now it's easier with cross-canadian staging dir and SDKPATH fixed :) (From OE-Core rev: 73a90b88541c373aa5b83a939dd3b5f1fe05b9b8) Signed-off-by: Eric Bénard <eric@eukrea.com> Cc: fcooper@ti.com Signed-off-by: Martin Jansa <Martin.Jansa@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
