Many things have been changing in the kernel since mid-1996, so there's
quite some amount of diffs here already. It compiles, but i cannot
test it anywhere here.
2.2 candidate?

This will make a number of things easier in the future, as well as (finally!)
avoiding the Id-smashing problem which has plagued developers for so long.
Boy, I'm glad we're not using sup anymore. This update would have been
insane otherwise.

here is a fix for a silly bug in the scsiconf I just sent out
and a similar fix for st.c
