* Get rid of the RANDOM_IP_ID option and make it a sysctl. NetBSDdwmalone2004-08-141-9/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | have already done this, so I have styled the patch on their work: 1) introduce a ip_newid() static inline function that checks the sysctl and then decides if it should return a sequential or random IP ID. 2) named the sysctl net.inet.ip.random_id 3) IPv6 flow IDs and fragment IDs are now always random. Flow IDs and frag IDs are significantly less common in the IPv6 world (ie. rarely generated per-packet), so there should be smaller performance concerns. The sysctl defaults to 0 (sequential IP IDs). | | | | | | | This means that the kernel can be totally self contained now and is not dependent on the last buildworld to update /usr/share/mk. This might also make it easier to build 5.x kernels on 4.0 boxes etc, assuming gensetdefs and config(8) are updated.

* Make the long-awaited change from $Id$ to $FreeBSD$jkh1997-01-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | This will make a number of things easier in the future, as well as (finally!) avoiding the Id-smashing problem which has plagued developers for so long. Boy, I'm glad we're not using sup anymore. This update would have been insane otherwise.
* Per discussion on the mailing-lists, move LKMs from /sbin to /lkm, andwollman1994-09-161-0/+9
arrange for that directory to get created by mtree. Also, process secure directory after all the others, because the programs there may overlay ones installed from the main part of the tree.
