* NetBSD rev. 1.10mtm2004-02-271-16/+51
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | successful [is spelled] with only one l NetBSD rev. 1.12 Implement ``one'' prefix to allow a "one shot" operation as if ${rcvar}=yes yet all the other prerequisite tests are still performed. The existing ``force'' prefix is a sledgehammer that ignores all the prerequisite checks and always returns a zero exit status; this is a more gentle approach to the problem of "manipulate this disabled service without editing rc.conf(5)". * Merge bsd.obj.mk's version of the _SUBDIR target with bsd.subdir.mk.ru2002-04-231-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Ensure all standard targets honor SUBDIR. Now `make obj' descends into SUBDIRs even if NOOBJ is set (some descendants may still need an object directory, but we do not have such precedents). Now `make install' in non-bsd.subdir.mk makefiles runs `afterinstall' target _after_ `install' in SUBDIRs, like we do in bsd.subdir.mk. Nothing depended on the wrong order anyway. Fixed `distribute' targets (except for the bsd.subdir.mk version) so that they do not depend on _SUBDIR; `distribute' calls `install' which already depends on _SUBDIR. De-standardize `maninstall', otherwise manpages would be installed twice. (To be revised later.)

* Quoting Peter Wemm, "At great personal risk, touch the sendmail startupgshapiro2002-04-052-0/+245
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | again." As an alternative to sendmail_enable=NONE, solve the boot time problem for non-sendmail users completely by moving all of the sendmail startup code from /etc/rc to /etc/rc.sendmail. The source for that script will be kept in src/etc/sendmail/rc.sendmail so make.conf's NO_SENDMAIL will prevent it from being installed. A new rc.conf variable, mta_start_script specifies the script to run to start the user's preferred MTA. For backward compatibility, it will default to /etc/rc.sendmail. The specified script is called out of /etc/rc after checking to make sure it exists. A new rc.sendmail.8 man page has also been added which now houses the sendmail_* variable descriptions formerly in rc.conf.5. Use /etc/rc.sendmail in /etc/mail/Makefile to reduce code duplication.
